  1. four HideAway LEDs in the rear taillights, as reported in the description of the vehicle. Another nice vehicle by SWS.
  2. He is not from my department and we are the closet Mutual Aid to them. We have no problems working with him at all. As Chris31 (who is also their Asst. Chief) posted, he knows his limitations and so do we and we will leave it at that. As I stated before he is an excellent Firefighter and I welcome him to any and all of my calls any day.
  3. Anyone that is around Richie truly knows that he usually knows more about what is going on than any of us. He truly is an asset to our battalion and the Amenia FD. Keep up your excellent work Richie.!!!!!! Plus he is now our official assistant phototog. Here is Richie giving me some tips on the CAFS line the other night, you can't see him well but his hand, but he was there for me. And in the background (on right) watching our explorers manage the handline, ensuring they were operating safely and correctly.
  4. Now who would be passing on those stories, JHK3605 SR.
  5. Amenia hosted a CAFS training session last evening for the members of the Northeast Training Association. Those that have not experienced CAFS it gave them the chance to handle a line and see the difference between a water line and a line using CAFS. I missed the initial crews extinguishing the fires in full PPE with SCBA as I was going through the CAFS pump operations on Amenia new 31-11. I have some pictures of our explorers operating a CAFS line but doing no extinguishment thus no SCBA before anyone chimes in about it, they were a safe distance from the fires. Thank you Amenia for providing us this training. Amenia 31-1 Chief Howard at the pump panel of 31-11 Members gather to see the CAFS line put into service. 6. Aaron thanks for sharing, great stuff, the turnouts, the smoking of cigarettes, pipes and everything else, classic classic stuff. My dad was one of the reported Firefighters trapped that day, man did he have some stories. They were inside and they could hear the building starting to fail, the creaks and cracking and they bailed and just in time. All I remember from that day was I had a baseball game at the elementary school and all the smoke and sounds were unreal. For those that know the area the area we call the four corners of Amenia, this fire is the current location of the Four Brothers Rest. One other thing, mind if I copy these to our website?
  7. Dan me either until I put my hands on the line and have seen what the CAFs can do. Thanks Aaron for sharing the pics.
  8. Here is one I just found, I guess I was moving to fast.
  9. I'm sure when the weather gets a bit warmer we will do another. I will keep you informed and you would be welcome to come up and join us.
  10. Nice to see it lettered with the Town of Beekman as well, looks so much better and professional than some of the ones I have seen with those lovely magnetic signs stuck randomly on the rig.
  11. Wassaic Explorers Bradley Whalen on the nozzle backed up by Terran Mace being instructed by Wassaic Lt. Matt Marshall and Capt. Kenny Elliott. And yes this is me on the nozzle Our newest explorer member Lakesha Simone striking a pose Big Blue 69-31

The Thouand Islands Rescue Squad was responding to an unidentified call on the corner of Broadway and Esselstyne streets in their village....the call was for a run at an apartment....and the first report that shots were fired came just before midnight Saturday (this morning). The alleged gunman was taken into custody right after the shooting. posted from the secretlist from firefightersclosecalls.com Story from nezjunky.com http://www.newzjunky.com/police/coplog090131sp.htm video and story of report from News 10 http://news10now.com/Video/video_pop.aspx?...83&rid=1013

  21. A three-year-old girl was tragically killed this evening (Friday evening) after an crash involving fire apparatus in Trenton, New Jersey. Conflicting reports indicate the apparatus reportedly struck a pickup truck which then hit a light pole that fell on and killed the child. Another report states that the apparatus apparently "t-boned" the pickup truck at the intersection, and the pickup truck then careened onto the center median, striking the child. The fire apparatus then hit a light pole, knocking it down and injuring several other pedestrians. All reports however, confirm the tragic loss of the child. Several firefighters and others were injured but all are non life threatening. Additional details will follow. Here is a link to local media video: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Fire-Truck-Strikes-Pole-Kills-3-Year-Old.html posted from the secretlist from firefirefighterclosecalls.com and video is from NBC in Philly.
