It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow to announce the passing of J.H. Ketcham Past President and Life Member Bridget Sartori this morning. Bridget is the wife of Dutchess County Car-16 Robert Sartori and mom to sons Robert and JHK Firefighter Ryan Sartori (emtbravo member ATV300). I can truly say it was an honor and a privledge to have Bridget and the Sartori family as neighbors. It was a great comfort knowing Bridget was right around the corner if needed. From the many skinned knees from the park kids to the senior citizens that may have needed a caring hand or just someone to talk to; Bridget was ALWAYS there for ALL of US. The Sartori family, the brothers and sisters of J.H. Ketcham and the residents of Powell Park have lost a great person and friend, Bridget you will be missed by all of those you have touched, may you rest in peace. Wake services will be held at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22 in Dover Plains on Wednesday April 22, 2009 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm with firematic services at 7pm.

Millerton was dispatched for a reported car into a pole on Route 22 in the area of the Round Tuit, 51-3 arrived and advised that extrication was needed and requested man power to the scene. Due to numerous calls in the district at the time, manpower was limited, Amenia was dispatched with their Rescue 31-52, however they were cancelled while enroute. Patient was extricated and transported to St. Francis by NDP. Central Hudson was on the scene for pole replacement. Extrication was completed when I arrived and they were placing the victim into NDP's rig.

pretty close to a complete break, hanging on by a few splitters. Yes Josh, 51 L-2 made quick work of the doors.
-
We had the valley for manpower, Millerton, Amenia, Wassaic, Dover and NDP provided it, thanks Johnnie B and Andy. ,
-
Mark you are welcome anytime.

I was headed to the Millerton town hall when you guys were dispatched, I met 31-52 returning by Tractor Supply. Car was headed South on 22 went off the East side of the road and struck a stump which directed it into the pole and down the embankment. As Dan said the dirt area is for the farm equipment that travels that area.

Chuck it looks like it's an open event, only members are getting shirts as posted above.

From OFPC: it doesn't give the practial information, just the requirements NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAMINATIONS The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control has been accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. National certification is now available in the following disciplines: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Service Instructor I, and Fire Service Instructor II. Additional certification levels are anticipated. Receiving this national certification means that a candidate has successfully completed a comprehensive examination process of both written and performance-based evaluations. This examination, while closely connected to, is completely independent of the training a fire service member receives. Certification is an excellent means by which individuals may measure their knowledge, skills, and abilities against a national standard and those of their peers throughout the country. Certification provides for recognition, credibility, and documentation of the tremendous commitment one has made in training as a fire service professional. Certification examinations are available at the Academy of Fire Science (see the schedule) and at regional examination centers. Regional examinations are conducted upon request of a county fire coordinator once a sufficient number of candidates exists. Announcements and advertisements for these regional exams are provided through the County Fire Coordinators' offices. The Office of Fire Prevention and Control is excited about this venture and hopes that fire service members across the state take advantage of this valuable program. Questions regarding this program can be directed to your County Fire Coordinator or the Academy at (607) 535-7136. Requirements for Certification: A candidate shall be a member of a duly organized fire department, fire district, or industrial fire brigade as specified by New York State law.The requirements for various levels of certification shall be in accordance with the specific parts of the National Certification Procedures Section of the New York State Outreach Training Program Administrative Guide. Firefighter I Designed For: All fire service personnel Prerequisite: Students must be physically capable of wearing SCBA and possess current medical clearance for SCBA use. Students not possessing this prerequisite will not be allowed to participate for their own safety. A completed "Training Authorization Letter" mailed with your application will meet this requirement. Hey now that will be a $5.00 royality fee for using my pictures of the Sag Harbour rig.
-
Thanks for sharing the shots of the new rig, may it serve Grahamsville for many years.
-
As I stated in the 2nd post, thanks for adding the law section, I was actually looking through the Town law this morning regarding the % allowed for non-resident members of a company/department which cannot exceed 45%.
-
good point Chris but it happens every day, all of our commissioners are in our fire company, with one also on the board of directors
-
I had these in our roadtrip thread but thought they should be a stand alone thread, this was a nice rig, first one that Firematic Supply in Shirley NY delivered of this type. It has a front mount Hale 1250 pump, 500 gallon booster tank, International 7400 series 4 door 4x4 chassis, Foam Pro system with a 50 gallon foam cell. Whelen LED light package, 1600 of 5" LDH, Warn 9.5 portable winch with front and rear receivers and also has the super single rear wheel conversion.
-
Sounds like many of us will be busy tomorrow afternoon, stay safe!
-
Excellent point, the only thing a commissioner cannot hold is Chief or 1st Asst. Chief, Deputy or whatever title one my use for the second in line. All other titles are up for grabs. Is it in my opinion a conflict if this person sits on both the board of fire commissioners and the board of directors of the company I would say YES, but the state law has no such provision as far as I know. We currently have this very situation in my district.

You got that right
