Dover and NDP were dispatched for a rollover tractor trailer accident involving possible unknown chemicals with the driver reported to be trapped on the "S" turns on Pleasant Ridge Road in the Dover Station #2 area. While enroute DC-911 advised all units that the driver was no longer pinned and was out of the cab, which was confirmed by Dover Command, 36-3 upon his arrival, truck was carrying food products.

Where to start; Ed Duncan was one of those guys that once you met him you would also remember him. I had the pleasure of having Ed as County Coordinator when I was Chief. We did not always see eye to eye on some things but one thing was for sure you always knew where you stood him Ed, he was a straight shooter all the way. I also had the honor to be a member with Ed in JHK, sat many days in the basement rec. room surrounded by him and the other "old timers" and listened to the many stories they told and just took it all in. Eddie you will be missed by so many people, more than you will ever know. My thoughts and prayers are with the Duncan family, the members of JHK and the staff at DC-911. RIP Eddie. The following was sent to me tonight by Vinny Galvin. Edward J. Duncan: Dover Plains, New York May 24, 2009 Edward J. Duncan, 64, a lifelong Dover resident, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his home in Dover Plains, NY. Mr. Duncan was a fire safety engineer at IBM Corporation for 27 years retiring in 1992. Born on June 29, 1944 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Grace O'Dell Duncan. From September 1962 to September 1965, he served in the United States Army. On April 29, 1967 in Dover Plains, NY, he married Judith A. Ciferri who survives at home. Mr. Duncan was a life member and past chief of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company and from 1984 to 2004 he served as deputy coordinator of the Dutchess Co. Department of Emergency Response. He was a member of the Dutchess Co. Fire Chief's Council, the Volunteer Fireman's Association of New York State and the Royal Order of Red Vests. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Order # 275 in Poughkeepsie, NY. A member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club in Dover Plains, NY, he also enjoyed hunting with his dogs at the Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club.

Seth, The NYS Facility is still open in Wassaic called Taconic DDSO and it sits on a 375 acre campus, it used to be 800 acres but 1/2 was sold off several years ago. It is my place of employment in the Safety Dept, kinda like an emergency services dept. that provides EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement duties to the residents and staff. Most of the TDDSO operations are now in the community, spread over 5 counties (Dutchess, Putnum, Ulster, Greene and Columbia) and there over of 90 state operated locations as well as 150 family care homes. The purchase of the snorkel was a mixed one but the facility was one reason for it. It was housed at our current firehouse in the rear bay after we cut out the floor about a foot to get her to fit. Here are a few shots of the snorkel in operation, a few shots are x129's: The signman on the turntable: Structure fire on Firehouse Road:

It is an Arrow chassis, unless it was refurbed I highly dought that Pierce would send a chassis to Ranger for a body, it looks like a Pierce pump panel as well, guess it the end does it really matter, No I don't think so, bottom line it is for sale and looks like it has many more years of service.
-
Chief thanks for sharing, it's great to see such a proactive dept that seems to train endlessly, it is refreshing to see.
-
nice looking rig, hope it serves Somers well and for many years, we are seeing more and more apparatus being delivered with blue lights on the rear.

Never heard of a Pierce Ranger, it looks to be an Arrow. Great shots of the apparatus, we have been waiting to see the Timberwolf ourselves, maybe at the NYS show.
-
I really have no problem with the project but I will say I have never been to the exempts location on Mansion Street nor will I probably go there, not for me.

All the pictures were taken by Donna Whalen, mom to our member Brian Whalen.

We also went to Sag Harbor to take a look at their recent delivery of the Firematic 4x4 pumper. Thank you to David Horton for the time and hospitality. A Ford 550 BRAT being constructed.
