I just heard from someone that Wallkill will have a medic on each rig, maybe contracted through EMStar, but that Wallkill is now an ALS agency and that EMStar is backup? Do you know what it actually is?
-
That is how NJ does EMD. The long version is a particular company
-
Is this the first case of a department going away from EMD/ProQA protocols?
-
What is the staffing on the unit? Also what are the dispatch protocols that it gets sent on? Any possible stroke symptoms within the window of time? If you have multiple pts with those symptoms, which one gets the unit?

http://www.lohud.com/article/20140201/NEWS/302010057/Westchester-Medical-Center-won-t-accept-ACA-patients They would still have to treat in an emergency, but it might make some people hesitant to go there
-
But are there other level 1 trauma centers/pediatric trauma centers etc in the hudson valley area?
-
Why? It's all about the money. The hospitals don't feel they are getting enough reimbursement under these systems
-
Does anyone know of any local places to get EMD CDE's. My certification expires the end of the year and I need to get it renewed.
-
I haven't followed Statter but I did follow the old watchdesk forums. Based on that, Ellerbe (DCFEMS chief) needs to go, NOW. Everyone should be calling for his immediate resignation
-
On one of the other websites, some higher-up said that the person was "a brand new probationary employee" based on that, I wonder if maybe the person they flagged down was a mechanic or janitor or someone else who might have been confused for a firefighter.
-
Or maybe they wanted that Engine to be replaced anyway and are looking for a convienent excuse

So, I was on I-684 today for the first time and noticed that by the Westchester County Airport it actually enters the State of Connecticut for a mile or two. My question is who responds to incidents on this section of road, as it seems to be pretty far from where the closest Greenwich units would be coming from? Is there mutual aide agreements in place for fire/EMS and what about police

I got my list number for Dispatcher. I didn't take PSD so no idea on that situation
-
I'm not sure about the CON and who holds it exactly. I do know that there the Village of Chester mayor (different from the Town of Chester supervisor) apparently said CVAC could still respond to calls in the village, but that never happened because of the confusion it would create
-
Just to correct some information: It is my understanding that CVAC was not "dissolved" per say. What happened was that the Town of Chester cancelled their contract for them to provide EMS service, evicted them from their town owned ambulance building and repossessed two of their ambulances which were town owned and is no longer going to pay insurance etc on the vehicles. In a purely technical sense, CVAC still has its Certificate of Need from NYSDOH and one ambulance that they own themselves. In theory they could give out a seven digit number and have people call them instead of 911, like some of the volunteer agencies in NYC and Hatazolah do

I just got my results today for the Dispatcher test. Everyone's should be coming soon
-
Orange County told me the results for the dispatcher test will be mailed early next week
-
I guess it is okay because she is a political appointee, but can someone jump the ranks from Captain to Commissioner? That alone should be enough of a challenge .
-
Probably the fact that a lot of agencies are going for the traditional black and white cars.
-
No, I haven't gotten anything since the letter to take the typing test, back in October. Someone should call civil service after the new year and try to find out what the deal is.
-
Yes, the year of service is also on the plate, at least in the cars I have seen
-
Minimum age for police officer in NYS is 20. Very rare, but it can happen. In that case the department either buys their guns or they may be able to on their shield, I'm not too sure on that. New Jersey and some other states you can be an officer at 18, although you need to be 21 to buy a gun. I do agree though that something might be fishy about this article though. Politics? Ticked off the wrong people and were looking at an excuse to get rid of him? General screw up on his last legs?
-
The plates I'm not sure about, but the command is 99.9% of cases on the rear quarter panels. The only thing about the license plates I do know is that NYPD highway cars have numbers in a specific series in the 2000's. (2500-2899 maybe?)
-
The other thing to keep in mind here is the fact that according to the article he was trained and qualified by Mobile Life to drive an ambulance. It's not like he had never done it before. That should be considered a mitigating factor.

I heard it was to try to get people to think that there are more police cars on the road then there are really are. Previously, actual police cars would say POLICE on the front and back. Civilian cars would say either NYPD TRAFFIC, NYPD SCHOOL SAFETY or NYPD AUXILIARY. Now that the police cars say NYPD POLICE, the public will be inclined to think any car that says NYPD XXXXX on it is an actual police car. At least that is the rumor I've heard
