  1. He's under contract. Its not an option for him.
  2. Who cares what they think in Washington? While "they" might have been "his people" before, they're not any longer. Its the Mayor of Chicago Richard Daley that people should be directing their angst towards.
  3. Agreed, but it was stated "flashing red lights" which exactly is what hazard lights in the rear of a car are. If they meant "revolving red lights" or "alternating red lights" in the rear, then that would be a different story.
  4. Having duty crews roster at the firehouse is a very sound idea. Some volunteer departments are shifting over to this system; the big question is how long will it take for a majority of the departments to make the switch?
  5. US Department of Transportation for starters tho' I can't cite exact section since I don't have it in front of me. Think about it for a second; if flashing red lights were not permitted on pov's, you'd have no four way flashers, which to the best of my knowledge are red and flash and all vehicles since the 1970's are required to have them.
  6. See post #13. Key words here: "If you don't like a member"...... Thanks for validating my post!
  7. I was not referring to you as a hypocrite; please re-read the post. Then if you feel you were wrong, you may retract what you referred to me as. As for the rest of your remarks, I'll PM you to discuss them rather then get into a pissing match in here.
  8. I commend you for your honesty. My next question to you is if your enrolled in your departments LOSAP program, are you going to collect your benefit when you become of age? or are you going to refuse the benefit? I think many of the people in here who bash LOSAP will be the same people who line up with their hands outstretched for the monies when they turn 65 and you people know who you are. You are more of a hypocrite then those who admit they solely join for the LOSAP benefit. At least they are being honest about their intentions.
  9. You are correct when it comes to flashing red lights; It's a national standard and as such is legal in all 50 states.
  10. I couldn't tell you; I don't use a blue light.
  11. That's nothing new....it makes no difference who's in office; all politicians are like that.
  12. I guess as long as he has permission from the supervisor on duty and/or the chief, it probably isn't much of an issue. I'm sure if the town he works for was concerned about it, they'd have told him no from the get go.
  13. Favorite: Ahrens Fox Least Favorite: Ward LaJunk
  14. Why don't you raise the question with your board of fire commissioners if your concerned?
  15. They should lock it down. It serves no purpose to continue discussing it.
  16. Relax! your getting all bent out of shape; I have a suggestion; why don't we agree to disagree ok?
  17. Precisely; if I had an issue or questions as to why the chiefs car was allegedly in Rhode Island, i'd take it up with the fire district; not on EMT Bravo. Bringing it up here is going to solve nothing. As one poster indicated earlier, we've beat this topic to death. There is nothing to be gained by revisiting it IMHO.
  18. If in fact the picture was taken in Rhode Island, I'd tend to give the chief the benefit of the doubt. While one of the purposes of this forum is to express opinions, i'm sure the owners of this forum would rather you give informed opinions rather then those that are uninformed.
  19. Do you have first hand knowledge that its not there on department/district business? Your making a lot of assumptions without any evidence other then a picture of a chief's car you allegedly snapped in Rhode Island. For all we know, you might have taken the picture somewhere in Long Island and posted it here just to generate some controversy. Either way if you have any issues with it; you should direct your questions/concerns to the Board of Fire Commissioners of the fire district in question.
  20. Goose I don't think thet the AFL-CIO would deny affiliation with them because the IAFF wants all the EMS work particularly in view of the Change to Win Federation (AKA the Great Labor Schism of 2005) which was created by 6 unions unhappy with the AFL-CIO's policies. The IAFF only represents a small part of the Executive BoardEMS could always affiliate under a union like CWA, Teamsters, RDWU, local 1199, etc. There is plenty of unions that have EMS representation that are part of the AFL-CIO and Change to Win Federation. If the AFL-CIO wouldn't take you, the Change To Win Federation would.
