Did they laugh Pete Lund out of the kitchen? Was he a tool? No he wasn't he was probably the best fireman the FDNY will ever see. If you don't know people from Kentland don't bash anyone from Kentland. My best friend ran down there a few years ago and he's the nicest most down to earth person I have ever met. Don't get the wrong impression from videos that have been surfacing from 3 or 4 years ago. Get to know the people before you judge them.

I'd pay the bill to get the car out of the lot, no matter how much money I spend over time to get the car out my life is still alot better than those I was trying to help. Could you imagine telling a family you couldn't save their loved one's life because you didn't have any where for the medic to intercept the ambulance because you're not allowed in that church's parking lot?
-
As a weekly church goer, I would really not care if they said I couldn't use their facilities or not I'm going to use them.
-
Are the engines and rescue also going to be ALFs?
-
Are you sure these are going to Newark.... they're red? ^that was a joke

Why don't they keep them back at quarters? They have 4 chaplains volunteering for the position, keep them on a 4 day 24 hour rotation give them a car with lights and a siren and then you can special call them. Why do you need a chaplian at a call for a kid who broke his leg playing football? Have him automaticly respond to calls such as serious MVAs, Cardiac Arrests, fires, the more serious calls. Thats just more room being taken up on an already tight ambulance. I'm not saying having a Chaplain is a bad idea, but I think they can find a better place for them on the scene of an incident.

Hows that irrelevant? I'm comparing the tower ladders to trucks that are pretty much falling apart and still going on 10-15 runs a day across a city to tower ladders that don't seem as beat up and are being replaced 5 to 10 years after they were put in service. All I was trying to get was an answer to why they need to be replaced when they are not too old and worn out.
-
Are these really necessary? I have seen some rigs that were heavily beat up and still being used...IE the FDNY rescues (2, 3, 4, & 5). Ladder 71 is only a 98 and Ladder 75 is a 2002, they don't seem like their in bad shape.

As a Giants fan, I didn't really care where he went, although I did always like him becasue he was a quiet player you never really heard much of... I have to say though after the last month or so I was so sick of hearing about Brett Favre I didn't even want to turn the TV on. But atleast its another great player coming into the NYC area I might even go see a Jets game now... in GIANTS stadium

Thats weird that this was brought up... about 5 minutes ago I was reading a brochure about this at my firehouse. Looks like fun but not practical.

All the bad things aside from what comes out of this county, I think what we are all trying to make here is what we actually already have, its called... Prince George's County MD. My god the place sees more fire than (no offense to anyone) alot of us will see in our entire careers, in a single week. And they are a county department. with alot of mixed paid/volunteer, and like I said we have seen some bad "publicity" come from this place but at the same time we see some of the world's best firefighters.
-
Instead of a "Department" I'm going do more of a "Company" or single firehouse. I'd have 1 engine, 1 Ladder, 1 Rescue. All of which will be staffed by 3 shifts. A, B, & C. Each Co. will have 3 officers 1 Capt. & 2 Lt.'s Plus 1 driver and 3 FFs. It doesn't matter if its a paid Co. or not staffed 24/7. Plus 3 cheifs Chief A, B, & C all of the same rank. Each FF/ Driver will have to have FF1, Hazmat, Survival, & pumps/EVOC, plus whatever else they may want. - The Rescue guys and even the truck guys may want to get alittle more "Rescue" training The officers will need to Have FF1/FF2, Hazmat Tech, Survival, Pumps/EVOC, Officer 1, -anything else you'd rather have different or add feel free to post

Future Fireman, first off the house is almost fully involved on arrival I'm sorry to break it to you but your teddy bear is burnt to a crisp, believe me I know people who were at the scene they did all they could have done it was going to be a total loss, and its safe to say that house wasn't running all of it's appliances off of a grill sized propane tank.
-
The reason they went to exterior attack at this fire was due to the fact that the fire was being fed by propane. As some of you know Delaware County has had some tragic event happen at fires in the past year to year and a half, and with deteriorating conditions they didnt want to risk any lives when it would have been a total loss anyway. I suggest you look at Green Ridge Fire Co.'s website it has some pictures of different angels and some video of the fire. Green Ridge Fire Company

Thats a horrible idea, its not uncommon for some one to say "my house is on fire" and hang up the phone just for a food on the stove call, or some one to say my neighbor fell outside although they fell because they went into cardiac arrest, it seems that this will get very confusing and will actually put more people at risk.

Out here in Eastern PA my station got hit out for a reported house fire about 30 seconds after it started raining and we ran non-stop for the next 3 hours, calls starting slowing down once it got to about 11 and they started back up again this morning. We're still going out on transformer fires and trees and wires calls. All in all we had 4 reported house fires 3 transformer fires and 6 trees and wires calls just last night alone. Busy night but still fun.
