any chance of getting interior or cabenet shots or the rescue trucks...the next time someone is out and about
-
Yes it is over $200, and no that does not inc any equipment. We got it from PL CUstom, but once you ask them to do custom work in changing the standard interior just say CA-CHING. The Pioneer lights are $4k each installed and there are 4 + the 2 HID lights on the back ect.. ect.... it adds up quickly. The EVS 5 point belts are not cheep either added about $5-7k to the cost for 5 positions in the back. Also if you have not speced a vehicle with LED's hang on to your hat.. Again once you change the standard layouts it gets costly, we adjusted almost all interior areas to meet our needs for equipment storage and safety. And we are well supported by the towns people, and currently have an overabundance of daytime help on most calls 6-10 is not out of the question for a daytime response. We run about 200 runs a year

No we dont bill, We send a beg letter once a year. The Town also kicked in $100k that is less than half of the overall cost. This is the first Line item in the town budget for Ambulance service in 40 years

Most services in Western CT from the coast up to te Mass line are using EMS Charts. CT is requireing all services to be on E-Pcrs. The nice thing with EMScharts from a Volunteer side is that you do not need to go to the bay to complete a chart, just log on to any computer and you can write your form. It takes a little getting used to but it is ot that bad we are using CF19's provided by the State of CT, but all of our hospitals have work stations set up for EMS charts, we rarely use the laptop. You can still use a paper form for signatures if you want and upload it to the chart. Also the cost is very reasonable we have the basic version with no billing runs about $1200 a year I think thats up to 1000 calls or something

"Don't you think that you could spend 10k on something else other than a stretcher? I mean how lazy to you have to get? I just don't understand it and I don't want to hear about getting hurt either. If you can't lift correctly then get out OF EMS. Spending 10K on something is RIDICULOUS." Then I guess spending $4k on a co meter is too much or $20k for a LP12 IS too MUCH AS WELL? or how about $25k on the upcomming LP15? My service can't spend money fast enough. I guess if you are comming from a career EMS world that dosent have money for pay checks than you dont complain about not having the best equipment available to do the job, your just glad the ambulance has fuel in it.......

From wikapedia for Putnam County NY "Putnam County is one of the most affluent counties in America, ranked 11th by median household income, and 47th by per-capita income, according to the year 2000 census." "The median income for a household in the county was $72,279, and the median income for a family was $82,197" Lets look to Litchfield County in CT Similar Population for the land area. There are at least 8 Towns that pay to staff there Ambulance when the Volunteers are not schedualed, the Town of Morris population 2500 pays 2 EMTS 6-6 every day and has for 4-5 years now....Putnam County's disregard for the Public Safty of its citizens baffles me...The largest hinderance to the EMS system in Putnam County seems to be the Fire Department control over most of it......If Mahopac can spend $6Million or more on the Huge new firehouse why can they not staff there ambulance? Putnam Valley sounds like its the Dimond in the Rough in Putnam County for providing Ambulance service
-
$10-11k is what they cost What does 1 lower back inj cost? all of that and then some We were the First Service in CT to order The stryker I have now seen at least 5-6 others with them in western CT . ALL of them were the Stryker

Putnam should look to Dutchess Cty.....There are plenty of towns that have Commercial providers that handle the calls, or the Commercial provider is started out on most runs and if the Volies cant get out then the commercial provider handles the call....Furthermore Putnam County is a VERY affluent County if the citezenship knew that they are essentillay without an Ambulance for the most part, do you think there would be an uproar? Many towns in CT have Hired crews and charge for service and MAKE money doing it.....Between billing and a County/town budget line there is no reason 4 or more staffed Ambulances can not handle most calls in the county with vol back up on busy days.

Dont you thinkg Putnam county should fix the BLS system first...? The BLS system has been dead for years and no one want to do anything about it........Why do we have to call 3-4 ambulances for every call that comes in???? And NY only requires 1 EMT? and a driver or am I wrong? The FD's should give up the EMS system as they have failed to properly staff and address the lack of not just daytime coverage but complete lack of 24 hr volunteer EMS in Putnam county......

We have had the Stryker in Roxbury for 1 1/2 years and love it. Yes its heavy, but you just need to adjust how you work with your pt's bring the pt to the cot using the stair chair and not the cot ..I would not buy a Ferno due to the battery issue the Stryker we have a second battery, and there is an override for the rare case its dead.....Stryker is the only cot to look at we tested them all even the air powered one.....
