  1. No link for Westchester that I know of, but the same site that had FDNY also has Putnam County. I have already downloaded it, and have Putnam Co., Monroe County (Rochester) and Middlesex Co. CT installed, all working perfectly. The same program also has a record function, so if you wanted to you could record live audio and save it for later.
  2. I will second this support for Advocates For EMS. I'm on my way home from the NAEMSP (National Association of EMS Physicians) meeting right now and spoke with a lot of the leadership from Advocates, and they are doing an awful lot for the EMS community. They are lobbying for things like greatly increasing the funding for EMS, providing LODD benefits for non-fire EMS workers, and correcting the Ryan White Act error. One of their founders this morning told us how it first started at a meeting in 2001. He was in a room with a lot of big wigs and kept pushing for EMS support when a fire chief told him "stop talking about EMS; this money only goes for guns and hoses". That was how Advocates was born; please support them!
  3. As of a couple of months ago, New Haven ERS now has a direct CAD to CAD link with AMR dispatch. ERS takes the 911 call, and as the info is entered into the computer it automatically appears on the AMR dispatchers screen. Now FD and AMR get dispatched simultaneously and both call out with CMED enroute. This step has cut several minutes off the ambulance response times in the city; definitely a great step forward.
  4. When I was a volunteer EMT in Western NY many years ago, we executed a traffic stop on a drunk driver. My partner happened to be the District Attorney for the county, so I believe he did had the legal authority to execute an arrest. We were dispatched on a shared frequency with PD, so it was very easy for him to call for a marked car to complete the process. I'm not sure if it's something I'd recommend outside of extenuating circumstances like that.
