  1. bct15 is more like the 996, very hard to progam with out a computer. Are you using a software program to do the programming? If not you need to create a new system and then a new site. It will be a pain to do it from the radio.
  2. If they are assigned 1st due, the have the 1st hose line. 2nd due they backup and help the 1st Engine 3rd due they have the 2nd hose line. 4th due would backup the 3rd/2nd line. (Not sure if they would go 4th) As a Squad they have pretty much nothing to due with a hose line and would being doing searchs and truck work, unless the IC needs them to start another hose line.
  3. Also along with doing drags, haiving so old bunker gear helps as well. During proby school we tore up alot of the gear doing drags and stuff. In the firehouse we are not allowed to use in service SCBA's and bunker gear for drags. They do have dummies in our Divisions but out my house we made a few out of old hose.
  4. I had a case like this sometime back. Lady called 911 from the corner outside the hospital, we found her standing there with here chart. She was waiting a long time and getting no help. So she ended up getting into a verbal fight with one of the nurses, she then picked grabed her chart and left. I wanted to take her to another hospital, but a supervisor said to bring her back inside. I felt she would have been giving better care in another hospital, were they didn't know her..
  5. 1. The EMS Operations SUV doesn't have two light bars.. It's the highway lights that go up on end. It's the newer style FDNY went to after 9/11, I hate them, way to heavy. 2. As far as SUV's FDNY will not be going to gas anytime soon. They are already looking at pickups with caps on the back as a replacement. I would expect if they do have to go with the pickup it will be a ford F-350 with a cap or maybe some form of box.
  6. Maspeth is still up and running. However alot of stuff has been moved to other location. EMS operations is loacted on the 7th Floor of Metrotech. EMS Communications is at 11? Metrotech EMS Medical Control Moved out can't remember the location Main thing there now is the Small Vehicle Shops. Ambulances and SUV's. There has been a lot of talk over the recent years to demo the building and build a new one. Main thing it would be used for would still be a shops but more modern and larger. If anyone has ever been there, you would notice that there are a lot of problems with the foundation. The buidling is on a swamp or something and there are a lot of cracks and other problems.

  8. Just an fyi. Rocklandfires.com Onthejobny.com nycfire.net All run from the same server. On Thursday a memory problem began to develop and we worked all day on Friday trying to head it off. However as you may see we couldn't stop the crash before it occured. There has been no loss of data and as soon as the problem is fixed things we go back to normal. It seems at this time that a possible bug in one of the server files is causing the crash and has been a sitting time bomb. I am working with the host today to get this file replaced.
  9. They are to read your plates..
  10. Not sure about refueling.. However when needed Yonkers DPW can bring out Drums with Gas or Diesel and a hand pump. It's done many times in the past, and it's too much of a problem getting stuff refueled.
  11. Extrication class... They have been getting some larger trucks and old engines for training..
  12. The "Ever Ready First Aid & Medical Supply Corp" Sterile Burn Sheets are starting to fall apart and turn to confetti. This is the same problem that occurred with the GAM industries burn sheets a few years ago. We sent this up the chain of command and never heard back. Tell the Junior guy checking the rig to look for these and get rid of them... If you want to see what the problem is just grab one of the rig thats been there for a few months and it will just fall apart. One of units in the Battalion pulled 3 of the truck and all of them pretty much turned to dust when opened. REMOVE these items.. "Ever Ready First Aid & Medical Supply Corp" Burn Sheets LOT #102500
  13. In the city NYPD is in charge of EDP's, it's a non-emergency no lights no sirens call for FDNY. When EMS transports PD always rides in the back. However in Westchester I have never had PD ride in the back, I guess it's because of the One man cars or something. I can remember picking up an EDP we found on 1st Av near Bellevue Hosp only to get to CPEP and tell us that the patient had just been transfered by a Private Ambulance. Once the Ambulance hit 1st Av the patient had bailed out. They were driving around looking when we got the call. Was pretty funny, low speed so the EDP hit the ground running.
  14. Just a side note... Before you start touching the breakers, make sure you don't have any CO. Have had a few incidents in the city, with a eletrical fire and someone shutdowns the breakers causing an explosion.
  15. Some more info on it with photos of the dedication. http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...61&sectionId=46 Interesting stuff here? http://www.cstone.net/~sfcav/2004News/nn_fireboat11.htm
  16. FDNY Tactical Support Units replaced the old searchlight units. So this one part of it's job as well as many others. It carry’s many tools that are not on the Rescues and Squads, such as small boat, all sorts of Air tools. One thing they use a lot is the transient to watch if a wall is starting to lean. MERV’s are a mobile treatment area. It’s an official Ambulance and is stocked like on, only that it can treat a lot of people. It’s not used for Red tag patients, but for the Green’s and things like that. During extreme weather it is used as part of rehab to keep FF’s out of the heat or cold when they are being checked out..
  17. JBE. Opps my bad.. Quick question have they put the monitors in the CO's for the GPS yet?
  18. It was a 65-2 for Fall Back Step 3 if I am not mistaking. They had two hi-Rise jobs going on today.
  19. Well, I have some tricks of the trade I would like to pass along. Here is the first one I put together, the standard 35mm file canister. http://nycfire.net/ems/tricks/35mm If anyone has anything else to add to this please do so. I have a bunch more to add, but I want to make sure people can get the stuff first. No sense in showing something that you can't get your hands on.
  20. Also note the County wide UHF firegrounds are 2Watts not 5 Watts..
  21. Just so everyone knows, Uniden does make a scanner that can use the Fire Tones. This is why you are seeing request such as this more and more.. But as far as tones for evey Dept is just a little much.. There are so many combinations.. If you can hook up your scanner to you computer you can figure it out with no problem..
  22. millwood127.. If you are looking for the tones for programming the new Uniden Scanners which have the two tone system. If you have an audio clip you can use a program called cooledit 96 to figure out the tones.
  23. They are the repair trucks which keep the Rigs on the street going..
  24. Guys let me try to break this down a little. Lets look at this as if there are no radios currently turned on and active on the system. When a radio turns on it will talk to nearest tower (North or South) once it has said hello to the tower the talkgroup will turn on. When the radio is keyed and you talk you audio will go over all sites in the zone you are in. So if you are talking into the South Zone, you audio will go over all south zone towers at the same time. It will not go over the north system. So if you have a scanner you will hear this user only on the south zone. So if you are in yorktown you won't hear anything. Now lets say this user is from pelham. Audio is only on the south zone. Now someone from Pelham is in Yorktown and turns on a radio. Well that radio will talk to the nearest tower (North Zone) and it will then turn on the talkgroup on the north zone. So if you have a scanner you will now hear the audio on borth zones, because there are radios on that talkgroup talking to towers in both zones.
