http://www.westchestergov.com/emergserv/ipage.htm What is I/Page??? I/Page is a secondary means of alarm notification via a digital device, such as a cell phone or blackberry device. Notification is automatically sent upon dispatch of a unit. The format that is sent cannot be modified "on the fly", it will appear on your digital device in the same format each time a page is generated. ** This feature should not be relied on as your primary means of dispatch. It is only as reliable as your commercial paging service. 60-Control will not be held liable for delay or missed pages via this network. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frequently Asked Questions: Is there a charge for this service?? - Not from 60 Control, however your commercial carrier text messaging rates do apply. Check with your local carrier for rates. Who Can receive I/Pages?? - This service is only available to agencies that are exclusively dispatched through 60-Control. It is up to the discretion of the local Chief or Commanding Officer to sign up the individuals who will be authorized to receive this service. How do I sign up for this service?? - The form to sign up can be downloaded by clicking on the link above. It must be signed by the authorizing Chief or Officer and faxed to CAD Operations at (914) 231-1840. No verbal requests will be accepted. How many units can be signed up?? - Each department is allotted 36 slots (10 Officers & 26 Members). Primary Response members should receive I/Page. How do I make Changes?? - A new form with updated changes should be faxed to CAD Operations at (914) 231-1840. Changes will not be accepted verbally. Ok Everyone, I am getting ready to move ahead with the Westchester County EMS Mobile Field Guide. This is a spin off of the NYC EMS Mobile Field Guide, www.nycfire.net/pda Currently I have a demo version setup and want to go ahead and make a final version. What I am looking for are people with PDA's that would be willing to test the system, provide feed back and comments on what to add, change or remove. I am also looking for people who could put together content for the system. Thanks Tommy

The UHF channel seems to be working fine.. Maybe a setting in the new scanner.. Do you have an old one to try and compare? I get the UHF loud and clear in New Rochelle. The FCC info shows 110watt repeaters 118 LOCKWOOD AVE 215 SEMINARY AVE. (ITV Tower) 46.500 150 Watt per FCC 53 SHONNARD PL 5 LOCKWOOD AVE & DARTMOUTH

That does sound right. Talking to the shops guys the other day, they said one of the drivers was bring a rig to queens when the engine or something blew and caught fire. Could not remember the unit number he said. If they find something faulty in the design that would mean big $$$ to fix all the rigs which have that same design work..

The tones that you hear on Yonkers High band 484.7125 are Motorola Quick Call tones. Used to page the higher ups and people like MSU. If I can remember correctly There is a 10-30, 2nd alarm, 3rd alarm and all tone. I had a list at one time, But I can't seem to find it anymore.

I don't think that has anything to do with a new CAD system.. If you read the text. it talks about linking it to the CAD system.. Given increased demands on deployment of both Fire and EMS resources, the Department needs to improve efficiencies and productivity through the use of new technologies. The Department’s current unit deployment and tracking model for Fire resources can predict response times, but cannot be used to analyze or improve deployment in real time. It also lacks an interface with EMS, which currently operates without a computer model. The ability to use a deployment and tracking model that includes EMS in real time is critical for modernizing the Department’s planning and response capacity. • By March 15, 2005, the Department will seek and obtain grant funds to purchase a stateof- the-art, computerized unit tracking and deployment model that will use dispatch data to optimize response to and coverage of routine operations and large-scale incidents. Integrating computer analytical capabilities, which reflect real-time response data and identify available specialized manpower and apparatus resources, will greatly improve the safety of both emergency responders and the public.

There person who was Public Safety #5 had a very active roll in the fire. Upon his arrival he assumed Command of the fire and had the chief enter the fire building as "Operations". I would have to say he was doing a lot more then this based on the radio transmisions.

Well here is the link to the standard list of Westchester 10-codes... http://www.westchestergov.com/emergserv/fo.../10%20Codes.pdf After a meeting about the new CAD system. I had requested that the county maintain a current list of 10-codes on the website. They posted it the next day. If anyone see's anything wrong with this list. I am sure one E-mail to DES can fix that. Also note that 10-84 is a vaild code for onscene. Tommy

Treating a patient after the RMA?? Well why not??? If we look at what is done, we perform a assessment and the patient can give us informed consent. If the patient would like to refuse treatment, they should be able to refuse one treatment but not another. I had patients sign RMA's all the time and still treat and transport. NYC ACR report (PCR) has a section for RMA that states to list what the patient signed the RMA for. However I don't think anyone should encourage an RMA "I have been advised and I understand that medical assistance on my behalf is necessary and that refusal to accept prehospital care and transportation to a designated ambulance destination may imperil my health or result in death. Having read the above, I refuse to accept: o Pre-hospital care (Specify): _______________________ o Transportation to the hospital_________________"

We all know that there is major problems with the way the radio systems work.. It seems that many dept's want to do things one way and not follow and sort of plan. For example Many Depts have the UHF fireground radios in use to clear the lowband but then they put a pac/rt in the Engine. So now you have a UHF fireground that hears everthing thats goes on 46.260. The other problems I hear is Depts sending tones at from thier firehouse. 60 Send the tones and then the first FF to get to the station sends tones out from the firehouse. 60-Control is the dispatcher let them to it. No body should be trying to dispatch from a firehouse unless there is a failure. It is important to have the ablity but to use it on a regular basis is something else.

http://www.sageauthoring.com/fdny/ft&p/ftpeng09.pdf Standpipe Ops http://www.sageauthoring.com/fdny/ft&p/ftpeng08.pdf Rope Stretch Above are links to the FDNY SOP's. As far as removing the PRV's if the Dept is small then they might have the ability to pre plan buildings with standpipes. However we all know that sometimes we just can't plan for it. One recent event I heard of in Midtown on Christmas day. Engine Company brings 3 lengths of 2 1/2 hose one with nozzle and tip attached. Control FF begins to hook up to standpipe as other two FF's begin to place the hose line. Control FF was able to loosening the PRV but unable to remove it due to an occupant hose hooked up. Solution was to cut the occupant hose near the PRV. Ok now here is the funny part. Fire was in a fireplace, however the fireplace was fake with no chimney, owner didn’t know.
