  4. As Eli points out the must be EASV and meet part 800. This also includes the name on the vehicle You can get waivers so I don't know what they have or have not done.
  5. 70 means you meet minimum qualifications. You have to look at the noe to see what gives you the extra points such as work experience. Also if they are still doing things like when I was there. Some of the people in front of you could be hired already. But that is the order they call people. Also there could be people who have moved on to other jobs such as PD or something so it's hard to determine when you will be called
  6. Officer side is the intake just like the 1994 series. ECC side has the normal discharge and the new larger discharge
  7. The system is not edacs. Same is the county system just 800mhz. There are several different levels and contact avenues for mural aid. For example FDNY can contact REMSCO, GNYHA or the state and regional levels. One thing we have done in the past is to use paid transportation ambulance company's such as AMR might be why empress has radio when you would think the county should.
  8. That should be on the nyc 800mhz trunked system. Regional ems council
  9. Guys from out of town have jumped in the back of groups but someone tends to chase them out at some point.
  10. Fdny Has 4 means of subway communications 1 hardwired sound powered phones installed with the standpipe 2 a two channel repeter system in each station 3 the 40watt post radios 4 the radio relay called CORE. Chauffeur, ov, roof, and engine boss
  11. Not far from my house. Took a quick swing by when I got a chance. http://nycfire.net/gallery/action/2012/nrfd_01/
  12. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=1884 Has all the info
  13. Pro164 is on sale for 150. Simple to use will get the job done. Watch some of the used ones, they don't do. The 6.25step that you would need for the city.
  14. http://www.nycfire.net/node/1106 The first two video looking boxes have the audio.
  15. Dispatch. And fireground audio posted on nycfire.net
  16. As far as gear. You should be at least reporting in with trauma bag / o2, defib, and board.
  17. Underground has it own problems. Salt
  18. FDNY at times will release a vehicle and driver from the rock. You may have seen Ladder 62 or Engine 99 at the rock. The movie prop rigs are not old FDNY rigs, they come from other places and repainted to look like ours. We have many members who are members of the Screen Actors Guild that work the Tv shows and movies. You will find that these members will bring along of FF's when needed but you can only work so many hours until you are required to join the SAG. Currently there are FDNY FF's working the movie Magnus rex? as extras playing cops. Side note. All the FF's in Bronx Tale were FDNY members.
  19. Another nice feature is channel announcement. Works very well
  20. No I repeat No fireground communications should be on a repeater or trunked system. It should be simplex and analog.. end of story.. Can you use repeaters and other things to enhance communications sure. As far as departments who want a dispatcher to listen, Simple solution is a vehicle repeaters. Look up Phoenix fire's reports on the issue. http://phoenix.gov/FIRE/radioreport.pdf At last check they use VHF simplex radios linked to the trunked system using vehicle repeaters/ One of the units tested http://www.futurecom.com/uploaded/tiny_mce/File/8Q100X07-Rev-1-DVR-Fire.pdf
  21. FDNY had a very restricted policy at one time however Some ems union members took them to court and won. Free speech. Now there the restrictions that cover HIPAA type stuff and if you try to represent the department.
  22. Note the ACU1000 this is a great unit and in the SUV a great idea. Now if you have multiple departments on scene you can link channels together to setup command freqs for interop. You can even take a portable and link it into the system. Have worked with these setups, they work very well. Today at the penn station incident FDNY deployed true Interop channels. They were able to use UTAC channels to speak across river with North Hudson, however only the BC radios have this. So if we had deployed the ACU we could link UTAC and FDNY TAC to allow the members in the tunnels to speak with each other.
  23. Added a live audio feed for New Rochelle Fire. It's setup with radioreference so you can listen from your smart phones or the rr site. It's a dedicated feed for only nrfd.
  24. It's funny that people mention about family members riding in the crew cab. When I was on the bus we would never do this. If the patient has an airborne disease, good chance family might have it also If the patient was bleeding all over the place. Good chance the family member has blood on them. We kept all of our personal stuff up front and some of.these family members were very dirty. Lice, bugs of all types, and sticky fingers. Ride in the back or ask the police for a ride. If it wasn't practical due to patient care they went in the back of another bus when pd wasn't there.
