JBE. After the Feds closed the CG station they removed the two KME Engines that had the Top Mount Pump panels. The one you see was sent to them and there was another one in a warehouse. The Mini Attack was replaced by the FDNY Brush unit, not sure what happened to the Mini. I know they guys missed it because you could drive it into one of the old forts unlike the brush rig.

The Department of Health, Bureau of EMS considers on-scene operations, or the positioning of an ambulance/EMS response vehicle in designated locations within a community, as a component of a planned emergency response system, to be emergency operation

The photo's you see are from about a week or two prior to FDNY take over. At the the time of the photos GI was still being covered by the Feds. Now that I look back I wish I had taking more photos that day. Some of the buildings were in great shape and others falling apart. I was able to get access to a few homes which I would move into tomorrow if I could. On the other hand the sports building which had a large gym was in bad shape due to water damage from the roof. The new hospital never opened and is sitting as is. There are a few new apartment buildings on the island. It's a shame that the island is vacant at this point. IF you look at map the island is cut in two sides, one new and one old. When any work starts they can't touch anything on the side of the road that covers the old side of the island which has the forts and stuff.

Now add something like PCAnyware and then you can control the PC remotely. So if it crashes or needs to be changed you can also do that. Just make sure you can ping the pc from the outside world as well as have any routers set right.

You can use Windows Media Encoder, It's free.

If I can remember correctly that is a "Robert P. Mitts" Photo. As well if memory serves me the photo is fake in that it was done for training and not at a Fire. Also please don't post photos unless credit is giving or it's your photo.

FDNY has three stages. Fire is Doubtful will hold Probably will hold Under Control. Along with giving an idea of fire conditions it will also trigger events. For example you have a fire in the first due area of a Squad. The Squad is now and Engine and the normaly assigned Squad is not availble for the 10-75. Add to that Rescue is also out of service due to a Pin Job. So when the 10-75 was giving you get no Rescue or Squad, however when you give the All Hands with DWH you then get the next squad and Rescue. If they gave the PWH then you wouldn't get the extra units.

No it only means they can start turning repeaters on and continue with the build out. Was able to lock onto the control channel last night. Some system info you will need. Scanner programming info: Motorola Type II UHF Offset 1 setup Base: 470.3000 Spacing: 12.5 Offset: 380 Offset 2 setup Base = 476.0000 Spacing = 12.5 Offeset = 570 The uniden 250 can take upto 3 offset tables, I setup only the two listed above and was able to lock on the system. No activity on the system when I was looking at it. You reception from my house so I will only be able to do limited testing.

The Crazy subway plan is for Roosevelt Island. Both Governor's Island and Roosevelt Island have reserve ambulances stationed on them. Roosevelt Island has the bus stored at the firehouse (SOC). If the bridge is up and gets stuck, EMS takes the subway onto the island and SOC picks them up and brings them to the firehouse to staff the ambulance. They can then remove the patient via, subway, tram, helo, boat. Governor's Island was staffing one FDNY EMS unit during tour hours when the Governor's Island FD was still out there. Since FDNY took over and now they have the CFR' out there I think they stopped all of that and now just have the reserve ambulance out there. Not sure if it's in the warehouse or firehouse. The pre-plans for EMS aren't that good for Governor's Island, pretty much they don't have any. Ran into this problem with liberty Island, Guy hanging from the side. Marine 6 was used to bring the chiefs over, Marine 1 used for Rescue, Engine and Ladder. Had to fight to hold Marine 6 for the bus. Makes no sense to send over all this without sending EMS with it. So there are some plans to deal with these Islands, some could be better. I uploaded some photos if anyone want to take a look. There are from prior to FDNY take over. Only FDNY units working the Island at the time was EMS. http://nycfire.net/gallery/album50

This has to be documented for many reasons. One this will need to be forward to the DOH. Two, this could be a problem with this equipment, and if it goes unreported maybe the problem will not get resolved. As well as a Agency you need to take responsiblity for your actions and the results of them. This should be documented on the end of the PCR as well as needed reports being filed. I would even go as far as taking the equipment out of service for inspection. This way you did you part to resolve and prevent another occurrence. 800.21.q upon discovery by or report to the governing authority of the ambulance service, report to the Department's Area Office by telephone no later than the following business day and in writing within 5 working days every instance in which: 1. a patient dies, is injured or otherwise harmed due to actions of commission or omission by a member of the ambulance service; 2. an EMS response vehicle operated by the service is involved in a motor vehicle crash in which a patient, member of the crew or other person is killed or injured to the extent requiring hospitalization or care by a physician; 3. any member of the ambulance service is killed or injured to the extent requiring hospitalization or care by a physician while on duty; 4. patient care equipment fails while in use, causing patient harm 800.21.r On or in a form approved by the Department, maintain a record of all unexpected authorized EMS response vehicle and patient care equipment failures that could have resulted in harm to a patient and the corrective actions taken. A copy of this record shall be submitted to the Department with the EMS service's biennial recertification application.

As far as them working well. This is a Yes/ No Answer. Yes they do thaw the hydrants. Biggest problem is that most of the hydrants that they are thawing are ones they don't shut down all the way and leak. So on Monday they could thaw every hydrant but by Tuesday night they are all frozen again.

Some not all of the EMT's went in. There was a group that was left back.

Think it stop but it was going on the other day. 46.260 was being repeater over EMS Citywide 1 on the same PL. They couldn't use for two days and had to use the backup citywide 2.

There is no Freq's for the rock.. They use almost anything, starting at FG4 and up. If you are in the area scan all the channels, they might be using many at one time.

As of now, NYPD Members and correction get proby pay while in school (Grade 6) After that they then get there time back. So they could jump to top pay (Grade 1) and be able to take the Lt's test. So if they did 5 years at NYPD then moved over they keep the 5 years and get full pay and everything that comes with Grade 1.

New Hires: For employees hired subsequent to the class in mid-January 2006, a modified starting salary of $25,100 shall apply. Also note that this is not for the duration of the probationary period. This for 13weeks of proby school. Goto 34k after proby school.

Probies will start at 25k and they do get the raise. I will post the numbers when I get them.

Best bet is to get a digital camera and take some photos of a building in your area. Start with a photo from down the block and keep moving towards the building. Get all sorts of angels and everyside. This way the people will also learn about a building in your area. As well you can find out about the building and add to what they see on the screen.

I think this is just a stop gap like the Ryder trucks were. If I can remember right this truck was used by EMS to exchange O2 at the stations, that's why it never had lights. Also this rebreather thing is new to the FDNY and it seems they just want to get it on the road. One aspect on the system is that you need to keep part of it on ice in a freezer, in the photo you will see the portable generator which is hooked up to the freezer in the back of the truck. I would have to say if they like the concept and willing to make it work you will see a custom truck in the future. Something with a built in generator and freezer that runs all the time like an ice cream truck.

The Rebreather was called out today for the 3rd in Manhattan at the Subway station on 6av and w8st. It was escourted by a FDNY SUV.

This is the treatment area and it does match up to the START System. It's not a triage area as the patients would be triage and then moved to the color code area for treatment.

I allways give me unit number when talking on the radio no matter who I am talking to... As far as HEAR radio stuff I give both such as Valhalla 82B1 to Westchester Medical Center. I find this is helpful when we come in and they see Valhalla they know it is us. Also while we mention HEAR stuff. Another one of my things they kinda drives me a little crazy. When giving trauma notifications the sooner the better I feel. For us in Westchester not such a big deal as I find it more so in the city. I know people who would work on that bad trauma pined in a car for 20 minutes, they are 5 minutes for the ER and wait till they start drive for the note. Why not give it sooner so that the ER can start thinking of what they want to do, get blood, etc.

Was thinking the same thing that it was a big response. However not know all the facts such as the prep states he is going to blow the place up or has turn the gas on. As far as EMS I don't know any PD who doesn't call for a EMS response to these calls.
