Some old photos I dug up from the Archives my dad John F. Bendick. This set of photos are Hi-Res scans of slides, which came out great. I had them scanned in at photo lab and it was worth it, they saved them all onto CD for me. If you can ID anyone in the photos please E-mail the info. View the set of photos here

Look into the Pro-97 from Radio Shack. I just picked one up. Does everthing but digital and tends to be on sale around $150

There is more to come.. I have two sets almost ready to go. Also have a few more shots from the last day in the old Station 3 with the rig parked outside. Now that I have a good system for the old slides I will have to look for more at his house.

Cutty, if you have the FEMA online course and want to convert them to College credits, go back to the site. FEMA has links to the college credits the online courses, I don't think you can get those from any college.

Are we all taking about Scott masks? If so then yes I have been having problems with the HUD's. Between not working at all, not working right, the do also seem to go dead quick. I just put two pack OOS my last tour due to problems. As far as keeping air in the line which would keep the HUD's on, most packs have the intergrated PASS so this shouldn't be a problem, you need to bleed it, to shut down the pass.

The new system is made by a few diffrent companys. Gemtor is making the harness. It's a newer style with a added D ring and new hook on it. Petzel makes the descender which is hooked in with a Carabiner to the D ring. Not sure who makes the hook, rope and bag to hold it. As far as people buying them, I don't know how you would go about that. I am not aware of any one vendor having a cotract on the items. I think it you would have to contact each vendor, unless one of the local fire stores buys the parts and puts them together. Most units now have the new harness, not all are using them. Ropes are issued along with the training which will still take some time.

Yonkers OEM runs a searchlight units. However the dedicated truck died sometime ago and now has been replaced by a light trailer which is towed by a pickup.

Snapshot, Just got one of there Raincovers for Xmas, haven't had to use it yet, but looks great. It's the 702, in fits my 20D great with the 28-300lens. I have looked at many styles and will say this is the only one I have liked so far. It's too big to carry in my normal bag, so I have to put it in another bag that I carry in the car.

I know they have been testing with good luck even with the FCC keep the watts down in the repeater. Does anyone know if they have installed radios in the rigs yet? I wasn't aware that this was going to be going online anytime soon.

IzzyEng4, you have that a little confused. High Pressure Units = 6, 10, 26, 34, 54, 65, 258 Engines 6, 10 placed in downtown . Engines 26, 34, 54, 65 cover midtown. Engine 258 in Queens near the CityCorp building. These units are designed to supply 700psi with the third stage which will get you upto the 110fl. They are only 1000gpm pumper and not used as a water supply. The Satelite Engines are 2000gpm pumpers used for water supply Engines 9, 72, 159,207, 284, 324 This units are all teamed up with the Satellite units. The pumpers also have added connections for the LDH and foam ops.

There is no LIST like there is for NYPD of FF. You call up and go on a list in ordered that you called. As they go down the list you get called, I am not aware of them getting rid of the list of names and any point.

The DCAS stuff has nothing to do with hiring. FDNY EMS hires as needed on a provisional basis. DCAS then does the Civil Service status.

From my last visit to Philly the info they gave me about Pipeline Engines is that they come from the old 2 piece Engines. One Engine was a pumper and one was a wagon carrying all the supply house. When they changed to just one Engine, a bunch were designed as "Pipelines" carrying the LDH. They even call the pipeline over the radio and everything. They kinda of remind me of a FDNY 2000gpm merged with the satelittle.

I use this one in a training classes. I had a student one time that stated that had locks on the gates to the fire escape window. Blindfolded the student gave them a set of keys and put a lock on a window in the classroom (hanging from a rope, shut in the window). Played the tape and said now go and unlock the window. Only 10' from the window in room that she spends 5 days a week in and it took over 4minutes.

Here is the old Engine 284 2000gpm pumper. There are a few older ones laying around as foam rigs. This is a 1979 Mack I think it's the oldest in service rig that I have a photo of. Shops number on it is MF7952

Just a note N2nov.net as started up a forums section to go along with the Freqs of NYC that he has..
-
Squads have a lot of changes on the rigs. One major one as far as hose goes is that they only have three beds. One 1 3/4, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2. They also have a much diffrent compartment layout. If you goto code3's website you can look at some of the models and see the changes.
-
Give me this nuts address. I will park infront of her house everyday at all times... Side note. Try to secure what ever you can, when you can. Working in NYC we tried to keep things locked up like fort knox. All the compartents were spec'ed that you could never leave the doors unlocked. You had to use a key to open them and when you removed the key the door locked. Also now they use the automatic started style system, allowing you to remove the key and leave the engine on. If anyone tries to move or mess with the ambulance everything shuts down.

The white plastic cabienet is FDNY spec for CFR-D storage. Also the front discharge is something you see on the FDNY Satellite Engines aka 2000gmp pumpers. Used for supplying the LDH.
-
Besides the colors and the light bars there are almost no changes to the FDNY Spec that you can see. I am sure there are a bunch of changes such as Pump type/size, etc. Even the CFR-D compartment is on the new rigs. Side note if this is a FDNY Spec then this would be the first FDNY Spec Engine thats not High Pressure.
