TL-78 is featured in the January 06 issue of Firehouse magazine on Page 71

E193 is a 1981 Hahn (The "Yellowbird"). The current E192 (1987 Sutphen) will most likely become E193 in a year or so when the new Seagrave engine arrives (which will be similar to Harrison's Engine 10, except of course for the color.) L26 is a 1985 Spartan Tractor/1955 Maxim 85' Aerial. The City's approved 2006 budget does include money for a new Ladder Truck-- although only time will tell if we get one or not-- if we do then it is probable that the current L25 (2001 Seagrave 100' RM) would become L26. As far as rigs that are not currently housed in a firehouse... due to construction at the Locust Ave Firehouse, L26 is in a tent at DPW, and U39 (1989 International/Saulsbury Generator/Patrol Truck) is also there in one of the garages.

Poppy's Cafe on Purchase Street in Rye (around the corner from Fire HQ) Home-made soups every day. Chicken Dumpling, Lentil and Chicken Pastina are my favorites. They also make Chili that the devil himself would find hot.

In Westchester County a Rescue is... "A support vehicle, not designed for patient transport but contains tools for life support, extrication, emergency medical care."
-
For those who don't know-- These kids are from both Port Chester and Rye. They have continually shown a lot of interest and initiative! Many former "Post" members have gone on to become active members and officers in various companies throughout the two jurisdictions... Plus, this spaghetti dinner is historically a good time (and delicious)... (The preceeding is not a paid endorsement)

Speaking of Sutphen and the SFRD... Truck 3 is featured on Sutphen's website, under Products>Aerial Ladders>SL104 (Although the site seems to be having an issue properly displaying the image...)

Greenwich doesn't carry ANY shotguns? Forget the crime factor for a sec-- what do they do when they have an injured deer?
-
So... if I was a resident of Greenwich, who had no knowledge of emergency services, dispatch, etc-- this article might leave me wondering about the pros and cons of this transition. I might say to myself "How do they know this will work?" Maybe the author should have mentioned the multitude of neighboring communities (Westchester County, Stamford, Norwalk...) who have been successfully using civilian dispatchers for years-- not to mention the thousands of other dispatch centers throughout the country (and world) that are not solely operated by "uniformed" personnel. If you have non-buff friends in Greenwich-- ensure them that this is not some radical new idea! Don't mean to be grumpy, but I dislike bad journalism.

heard Bedford Hills and Mt. Kisco a couple of times and they had a few chiefs call in earlier...

Rye Engine 191 has one... Its especially good to use as a step-ladder in a drop-ceiling situation where you need to pop out a tile here and there to look around. I dunno about you smaller guys, but if I tried leaning an attic ladder into the grid of a drop-ceiling, there would probably be a major failure!

almost forgot... Village of Mamaroneck, Ladder 20, 1995 Sutphen 105' Tractor-Drawn Aerial This was the first tiller rig ever built by Sutphen, if I remember correctly. http://www.vmfd.org/Ladder_20_pictures.asp

Rye Engine 192, 1987 Sutphen Pumper... This rig has been a real work-horse, and will soon be replaced with a new Seagrave pumper (by Fall of 2006), and then will most likely move into the Engine 193 spot, replacing the 1981 Hahn "Yellowbird". Sutphen has a location in White Lake, NY (On Rte. 17B near the Sullivan County Airport) I believe this facility deals with pumpers only, and the trucks are built elsewhere.

Get well soon, Chief!
