So after EVERY type of fire you're supposed to wash your turnout gear, take a shower, wash your uniform, and do all that stuff. Some departments are too busy for that and firehouses not set up for that. Can't even go get a cup of coffee after a run without having to perform a big decon operation on yourself first.

It was only for an EDP, not a medical emergency. That can wait shouldn't be going by ambulance anyway. And the title shouldn't read Sleepy Hollow refusing mutual aid if it was only one call and they didn't refuse anything.

You'd have to redesign firehouses to be able to do all that.

In an ideal world everybody wears their mask. In the real world these guys are working from the outside so you're going to suck smoke. Can't wear a mask all the time. Good job knocking it down with a can.

Can the employer legally ask for the money back if it's their mistake, or is it the employee's responsibility to report it?

This was from the original LoHud article. Do they have a separate fire company that handles fundraising and social functions, or is that included in the department?

My department still shares masks and keeps them on the trucks. Wasn't there an OSHA or NFPA directive at some point that everyone was to be issued their own mask? Isn't it better that way?

But we don't share turnout gear, helmets, hoods, gloves, etc. The mask is fitted to us, so why is it any different then the rest of the PPE?

Are they keeping the 2009 Sutphen 100' MM Tower as well?

Does TMFD assume the liability from LFD when this situation happens?
