What WAS is talking about goes for just about any "charitable" work where you use your own car. A good example would be Scouting (driving kids on trips, summer camp, etc) or an after school program you might volunteer for (kids helping kids...). Always a good idea to keep a mileage log just in case.

It said 21 at time of appointment.....

FDMV sends 1 Engine, 1 Truck, and the Rescue to a reported MVA on the highway.

Listen, if you can read and understand the English language you can pass this test. Just take your time while doing the written parts. Worry about the listening and typing parts. You only hear each simulated call once and have to jot down as much key info as possible. And typing is typing, be quick but accurate. Good luck to all.

You would need an interoperability control unit. The unit would require a dedicated portable and a dedicated nextel to be connected to it. Then it more or less acts as a cross band repeater. Check this out. The ACU1000 is a great example of one of these units.

WAS, It was run in house in MV, by the guys who do the NR classes. BTW #344*** Thanx again to all.

Sorry DOC it was worth a shot.

Wolf, It wasn't the Sprint merger, it was Boost Mobile. They didn't expect the pre-paid to take off the way it did. That is what is overwhelming the network. Doc, As for getting "service restricted" try just turning off your phone and turning it back on a minute later. It works for me most of the time. The phone just needs to recycle for some reason.

Everyone who saw the crash said that the cabbie was speeding to try and pass another car. They say he didn't even hit the brakes. But yet and I qoute, "The cabdriver was not charged". What's wrong with this picture?? Freaking cabbies...I can't stand them.

Unfortunatly not many grow up around it anymore. And it shows, when I was appointed the guy I came on with struggled at things that were second nature to me because I had seen it my entire life.

Free speech motherf***ers....just kidding Zuki you are right about the cursing. Being not that old I actually had a converstion about that with a friend of mine who is 22. I told him not to curse around my neighbors kids and he looked at me and said "when did I curse?" He had no idea. But back to the topic at hand. x635, If you gotta close a road for any reason, don't get PO'ed if someone stops and asks you for directions. Not everyone will know to make three lefts and turn around...

Thanx to all for the congrats. RWC130: I'll get back to you I don't remember off hand. Pudge: We'll have to talk over a beer one day soon and I'll get into the details. x635 & JustSomeGuy: I love training!! :-) TPWS: I'm always available for OT!!! :-) (oh and you never answered my question from the PM I sent you) 20y2: The goal is to have everyone be an EMT and provide a better level of service to the community. If you want a better answer then that call 914-665-2626 and ask for the Chief.

Could be very useful out west. Or even upstate in mountainous (wonder if I spelled that right) areas.

Wasn't this idea called Westchester 2000...or something like that???

Well folks, after weeks of waiting and wondering I couldn't wait any longer. So I called the NYS EMS office in NYC today and spoke to a kind lady who informed me that I scored a 91% on my EMT Written exam. That's right folks CAM502 is now a NYS EMT. Thought I would post this info here for my friends on the board who knew that I was anxiously waiting for my results. Thanks to Donny Softball and all the other instructors that gave the MV class. Now I just have to go buy my EMT Badge...lol just kidding .

Think he meant that nobody cares about them anymore.

Forgot to mention, I do agree that M/A is way to overused. And I do agree that every department should be able to handle a Bread and Butter job. All I can say is: Gotta Love Politcs!!!

This topic again......

TPWS, Man I can't believe you really want to bring up that Mt Vernon Ave job again...lol. All that BS aside, If I send you out on M/A and we need you back, we have to request that you be released by whomever you went to cover. I know if someone else is in qtrs covering us, I expect them to be there ready to go when I gotta send them on other runs. Remember when we had two jobs at once a few months ago. If you are en route to anything and you come across another alarm you gotta make a judgement call man. If you are on the way to New Ro and you come across a job then stop and go to work. Just make sure to radio it in so we can fill it out and tell 60 that we're not sending the 1&1 anymore. If you find a wire down, radio Fire Alarm tell them where it is and proceed on your way. If you are out on M/A and they say sorry we can't release you right now then we will call 60 and get more M/A.
