yeah I agree that's a good one ← I disagree with this for only one reason. More people than just Westchester Co. will be using this site (I assume at least) unless I am mistaken, and it is intended for just Westchester.

Link to old thread: http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=10431 The video has FINALLY (thank God) been made and posted online This research tool is available to any and all to download and use in any presentation they would like. Thank you to the DCC Fire Science Procram, the DCC Emergency Services Club, and most importantly, Mr. Dave Walsh, for spearheading this whole thing. **NOTE: Be forewarned, this is a LARGE file, and a high speed connection is highly recommended. Please, feel free to contact either Mr. Walsh directly, through email or phone, and tell him how you feel about the video, good points, bad points, and what could have been better, as he, and the students are striving to improve upon, and complete another test burn this upcoming semester. If not, leave your comments here, and they will make their way back to him! Thank you ALL for your patience, I know there was a lot of interest, and it took a while!!! The newer generations of LEDs are ages ahead of the older ones. In the past, LEDs were only really intense from a direct, head-on approach, but from a combination of either reflectors, and or just the advances in the lights, they have a much broader viewing field nowadays. They are insane at night, and extremely visible in the daytime, not being washed out by the sunlight. Also, as was stated earlier, they have a much, much greater life than strobes, the generally accepted time being 100,000 hours of continuous use (over 10 YEARS)!!! The power draw for LEDs is insanely small as compared to what is required for strobes. The need to create extra juice to power them is not necessary, such as beefed up alternator, or extra battery packs, power supplies, etc... LEDs can also be left running for quite a while before one has to even consider worrying about draining a battery (without engine running). Their intensity rivals that of strobes, and just are cooler. I started out with a strobe light in my POV, and moved onto LEDs, and never looked back. I have been pleased by LEDs since the first day of use, and love to see apparatus outfitted (appropriately of course) with "sufficient" amount, and type of LEDs. The cost may be a bit higher in the beginning, for the cost of them, but in the long run, I can safely say that the cost will be minimal, due to a lack of maintenance, and lack of a need for constant replacement, like dead and or blown bulbs (halogen or strobe).

All it takes is once to throw everyone into a frenzy. Sitting here and trying to look back on past instances, is more retroactive than proactive. Why take the risk? Sure it was fine yesterday. I am sure some departmenst still do it today, but why continue such a dangerous trend, when the risk can be avoided althogether? Riding on the back step has gone by the way of open cabs, and open cab jumpseats. If not, it should be. Just my two cents.

I believe that whether or not ACTUALLY on the committee itself, a hearing, or the aforementioned suggestion box idea should be in place. Have those that actually do use the apparatus day-in and day-out, be able to say what they want, or see fit to have on the rig. From there, the committee can weed out the either most common requests, or most practical. If you have 10 people all asking for the same thing, chances are there is a reason for that. While there may be some discontent with the idea of a younger, more inexperienced member being on a committee like this, you have to think down the line (the point of a committee, no?) and see who WILL be using this apparatus in 5, 10 years. Sometimes, chances are that the "old-timers" may not be around to be using it, but the younger members at the moment, will be the seasoned guys using these rigs in a few years.

Guess I am going to have to keep my eyes open, and camera at the ready.

Sounds like a toughie! I have heard of this in the past for District Courts, but when I got called for local jury duty, there was no excuse on there for volunteers. I suppose there are those out there who couldn't mind being a juror for a prolonged period, but idk, I think I wouldn't mind the whole excuse idea.

So, when, where, and who is organizing the bachelor party? Seriously though, best wishes from up by the way of Dutchess County, Seth! It is nice to hear such wonderful news, best wishes, and hopes for the future of the both of you!!

Ok, I guess everyone is chiming in their two cents here and there. Are there younger members out there who think they know it all? Sure there are. Was I one of those at one point in time? Sure I was. Is it fair to make a rash generalization about the younger generation making posts of an off color or taste, or with attitudes? That is where I step in. When I first entered the fire service, I certainly was the "6-20". Six months in, twenty years experience. We all start out that way, its just to what degree. Are there those who know a lot, and pick up on everything extremely fast? Most definitely. In most cases it is how you present what you know, or what you think. As best I can tell, I do not think that too many of the younger crowd in here handle themselves inappropriately. Maybe one or two things here and there are presented wrong, but everyone in here contributes (hopefully) toward the better good of the fire service, and their brethren. Being somewhat closely associated with the "youth" of this forum, I think you should know that not everyone has, or will produce an attitude, or have a big mouth. If anyone finds anything inappropriate about what we say, it is pointed out, and most often scrutinized, and for the most part, they do not repeat themselves. This is a learning experience for EVERYONE. I think in part, the youth DO come here for advice, counsel, and to learn. I have learned a lot from the postings in this forum. This is the first, and only forum I am a member of, and I am on here daily. I hate to see a lot of smart, youthful, energetic, and maybe overzealous (at times) generation being put down as such. Am I attacking Pressure's opinion? I certainly do not hope anyone thinks I am, I am just trying to look out for those of us, who think that it is unfair to generalize about a group of individuals. -xfirefighter484x

Same situation with the Hyde Park drive-in, the transmission through the stereo system. A good time is had by all. I have only had the fortune to go to a drive-in once, but I am thinking I may more often this upcoming summer!

Yea, I agree, that original promo was set very well to that song.

If memory serves me correctly, you are right. I believe Jorge actually stated it was Torre's jersey, and it was #6.

You hit it right on the nose ex67-1, rear-step riding is strictly forbidden. NYS is one of 22 states, and 2 US territories to have state OSHA plans, and PESH is just the NYS division of OSHA.

Thanks for posting that image!! That was precisely what I had meant in my posing earlier, but I did not have any images to reference!!

Hahaha, I am not too worried about it. I had figured most guys (and gals) would get theirs in if they really wanted it that badly. I just hope I do as well as I did last time, if not better this time!
