I know it is a little off topic, and I apologize ahead of time, so if there is an issue with the posting of this here in this thread, please let me know, and I can/will start a new thread. I just figured I would answer a previous question someone had posted. -xfirefighter484x

I GOT IT!!! If all 5,073 members of this board throw down a few bucks each (a mere $13,798.54), we could all get in on this $70 mil baby!! We would have to think of a way to work it out for visitations though. We could make it a timeshare so everyone could enjoy it, and each person could get to spend 1 hour, 43 minutes, and 36 seconds in there a year! Either that, or we make it into the new EMTBravo HQ, and we all have access anytime (Members Club type deal). I'm down! Anyone else??

You know, you beat me to it! I was going to say something along those lines. So here it goes! In a day where people can raise a hell-storm about one man who pokes fun (or just a plain disregard for) at their own ethnic background (Borat), people have become way too uber-sensitive about some of the most stupid things. In a place where we are, as the original author even said "ball busters" people have to take this into account, and not just fly off the handle every time someone makes a joke. If it is offensive to you, DON'T WATCH IT! If it gives a department or something along those lines a bad name (like having it on a department website) take measures to resolve such issues, but come on people, grow up. It is/was a joke. Live with it.

Such a manly man holding those Jaws. Who is he?? Great video Seth! Always look forward to the video productions from members, and any buff alike.

Everything depends. If he is acting as an IC, there is a need for them to remain outside. Remember though, a fire chief is still a firefighter. We all know and have our duties, and no matter what is comes down to, if you need another guy, why not? Just because someone is a chief does not make them incapable of handling the physical attributes of being a firefighter, just because they are more administrative, and managerial due to their position.

I wouldn't know for sure, but chances are probably not.

Billy fought a hard battle with cancer, going through chemotherapy several years ago, and a most recent bout with leukemia, and a bone marrow transplant.

Hey....thats MY QUOTE!!!

Saw it this past weekend and I was rolling in my seat! It definitely had its moments of being stupid, but overall, i thought it was HILARIOUS! So many questionable pokes at ethnic groups, but I guess it is ok, with the actor being that religion himself.

No, you are right. If memory serves me correctly, it was within the past 2 or 3 months the V&T changed. As of then, most NYSP I have seen have at least one, or 2 Blue LED flasher in the rear of their lightbars, and ALL new NYSP cruisers have them. I traveled up 17 this past weekend to visit my brother in Binghamton, and was cruising behind a NYSP Tahoe when he lit up and pulled the vehicle over in front of him. The blue LEDs were INSANE as compared to the old Red/Amber flashers. A good addition to the VTL...now if we could only get them to allow ALL emergency vehicles for rear blue facing lights...

Looks like they only need/use the bare essentials, not all the bells and whistles (pun intended) like over here.

Hope everyone did well on their FPAT. Best of luck to all!

A nice change I think! Good thinking EMTBravo, and Truck4!!

Its funny to be taking your gf's little sister trick-or-treating, and watch the cops pull up, and make little juvenile delinquents pat themselves down, and the best part is when they have eggs hidden in their pockets. No need for THOSE eggs anymore.

I too have had the deep fried Oreos, and they are heaven in a bite. Also about a 200 point jump in your cholesterol level per bite. Deep fried Coke? As good as it may be, someone has way, WAY too much free time on their hands. What will college students come up with next, deep fried term papers? "I'm sorry professor, I ate my own homework."

Wow, seriously, I never would have guessed. As far as I had always been told, you should wear an extra layer (i.e. pants) underneath your bunkers just to provide you with that extra protection. As much as your gear protects you, if you get into a high heat environment, we all know our gear can heat up quite a bit, and even worse, steam-scenarios. Thank you, res6cue for that update!!!!

Ok, random question. Do they wear the same gear/same style gear we do here in the good old US of A? I know that in some places, they were working on making a 1-piece jumpsuit, supposedly to eliminate the time to get ready, or just ease of use. Hopefully it does not sound stupid, but is there the possibility they wear a different style that requires them to wear no other clothing underneath?

I saw coverage of this apparatus last year on Discovery Channel, or TLC, if I remember correctly. It is an amazing craft. 0-50 time is supposed to be amazingly fast, and top speed is supposed to be around 100mph (if i remember correctly, but don't hold me to it). Lightweight and portability make it a nice choice to airlift to remote fields (as was told in the TV program), for first in units setting up remote air bases. Yes, have heard about lots of bells and whistles in it, but so long as it gets the job done, why not add a little flair?

Scores were given out about 3-4 weeks ago in a separate mailing than from the one with the information for the agility exam. If you wanted to find out your ranking on this list, you can contact the Dutchess County Personnel Office, Monday through Friday until 5PM at 845-486-2169. Agility exams are being given this upcoming weekend, and next weekend, for people who had conflicting schedules during their initially scheduled time. The chances of you getting hired living OUTSIDE of Dutchess are slim to none. Living IN Dutchess only helps live in a hiring department's response area. Also, the agility is a Pass/Fail examination, and your rank derives from your score. Hope that helps!

Yup, that is it.

Throughout the entire exam, you will be wearing a 50lb. weighted vest. For the stair climb, you will wear an extra 25 lbs, to total 75. Once you reach the top floor, they will remove the extra 25 lbs. After the climb, you will proceed to pull a hoseline (uncharged) up to the 5th floor, which is attached by a rope. You will take the rope, and pull it until you grab the nozzle, once in the window, and place it on the ground in a marked area. For the ladder raise, you have to walk a straight ladder, attached by a pivoted mechanism, walking it up to the wall, using hand over hand, your hands must touch each rung. The weighted tire is just that. Laying flat on its side, you have to hit the tire until it comes into contact with the wall. This is a pass/fail examination. If you fail one station, you fail the entire examination. Any other questions about any other stations, or any other questions about the exam, please feel free to ask, and best of luck to all on it!
