thNak yuo DOC. i h8 c-ing bad grammer and postengs. HAHA, sorry, I could not resist. Yes, it is a PAIN, and i cringe reading half of the postings on this forum. As far as those red lines go, I think that only works if you have, and are using Mozilla Firefox, unless IE came up with a similar plugin, I would not know, I never use that piece of...so anyway... I will, on occasion, drop a 'lol' or an 'idk' but at least most people can understand that....I would hope. -xfirefighter484x

So I have found out some more information. The 2 East Fishkill Young Pumpers were Custom Pumpers, and I believe sold to some department, or separate departments down south. They were a 1982, and a 1984, respectively. The old 85' Snorkel was a 1968 Young, well, Snorkel, I don't have too much more information on that as of yet. More details to come!
-
East Fishkill had a few Youngs. 39-11 (old E-1), 39-15 (old E-5), and 39-45 (old Snorkel 1) were all Youngs. The old 39-11 and 39-15 were sold in 2002, with the replacement of them. I believe their years were 1982 and 1984 Youngs. I do not know their whereabouts now, but I can inquire and re-post. 39-45, the old Snorkel, was sold back in 1999 with the purchase of a new source pumper (39-81), and is now owned, and still operational, with a roofing company in Poughkeepsie. I actually passed by and saw it up and operating about a year and a half ago in the City of Pk. The old Snorkel was a 1965, if I remember correctly. The Snorkel was originally owned by a department down on Long Island, and was purchased in the late '80s/early 90's by East Fishkill. I will get the name, but I know the initials were EFD.

East Fishkill has utilized Hyatt's Towing from Hyatt's Garage on several occasions at bad MVAs. For instance, one night, a pick-up went off the road, striking a downed tree, pinning the driver between the truck and the tree. The tow truck was utilized to lift the tree free, so extrication efforts could take place. http://eastfishkillfiredistrict.org/MVA%20...%209%202005.htm Firehouse.com Article At another incident, a patient ended up rear-ending a tractor trailer, forcing the vehicle they were driving underneath the trailer. Hyatt's Garage utilized their heavy wrecker to lift the trailer off the vehicle, so it would be pulled free and extrication would commence. http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=10757 From both of these incidents, members operating the Hurst Tools, AND the members of Hyatt's Garage were issued Green Cross Awards by the Hurst Company.

Thanks for the info! It just seemed weird how for no apparent reason they changed their thing to the live fire arrangement. There had been talk that the winner from the Dover competition would move on to a regional competition, but I never heard anything more on that topic either.
-
From 2003-2005, the Dover Fire Department here in Dutchess County hosted an Extrication Competition each year. About 7-10 or so teams signed up/were invited each year. An unnamed FD cleaned house all 3 years. In 2006, Dover chose to host a live fire event/competition instead of the extrication competition. No word on why.

Seems like a VERY cool idea. Seth, I have been impressed with all the changes coming for this site. I jsut signed up for this RSS feed, and I can't wait to see how it ends up working for me!

Got an e-mail from a friend currently serving over in Iraq.

The casing holds up relatively well, I mean, as well as can be expected of cheap plastic, not the thermoplastics of Survivor lights, etc... I think that if it is hot enough to melt the unit, the elastic band would already have melted away and the light fallen away anyways. Although I haven't seen any melting or malfunctions due to heat personally, I have seen the Garrity lights become, well, puddles. It is possible the the people who have these haven't been in situations where this could happen. It does provide some substantial lighting for a small light in smokey environments, and is perfect for plain dark environments, i.e. outside at night, and if you do take it into a building and get it ruined, it is just a cheap $15 more for a brand new one!
-
I had this as my textbook for my Principles of Fire Investigation course at SUNY DCC. It is a very thorough book, for sure.

This is the light that I have on my helmet. The only drawback is the thin elastic band that wraps around the helmet. Other guys using the same light have had it fail due to the high heat, but I guess that just means I haven't been in a hot enough place yet It has 2 white "spotlight" LEDs, 2 white "floodlight" LEDs, and 2 Red LEDs. It has 4 modes, the 2 spotlight LEDs on, the 2 Floodlight LEDs on, all 4 white LEDs on , and just the Red LEDs on. It has a ratcheting base, to pivot straight ahead, or anywhere to 90* straight down, which is GREAT when filling out paperwork at that 3AM MVA. The following is just a link for picture and reference online, I bought this light at Wal-Mart for $14.99. If ya break it, its cheap enough to buy another. It runs on 2 AAA batteries, so theyre easy to replace when they die! http://store.botachtactical.com/en6ledhe.html

I guess it depends on the person. I have taken my County's version of the CPAT. Dutchess runs the FPAT, giving a 14 minute time limit, just as a baseline for all applicants for any paid position. From there, once hired, you go through the academy, and from there have to pass the CPAT. The last time I took the FPAT, I passed the FPAT in 9:43, and at the end, the proctor said "Good enough to pass the CPAT." so I am pretty confident in my skills. I do know what you are saying though, about the orientation, I guess good if you have never taken one before.
-
I know of the list given out by the CT Fire Academy, but I thought at one point I heard that some other places do give out CPATs as well. My problem is that the closing date for the NEXT round of CPATs has already passed, it closed on 6-22, which means I would not be able to take another CPAT until November???
-
I am probably just stuck in the old way, because I was comfortable using it. I hope that most of the features/layout will be similar, otherwise it will be a pain, but I guess I will have to adjust.

What happened to the most recent posts area at the top of the main page on EMTBravo.net? Several times this afternoon I made attempts to get onto EMTBravo.net and was met with Error messages. Shortly after that, the site came back on, with a new forum skin already loaded (not by choice) and the section where the most recent 5 or 6 posts are shown is gone!
-
So, seeing as I was declined the opportunity from taking the test due to my late arrival, does anyone know of the next CT CPAT, or ANY CPAT to be given in the State of Conn? I have been informed that the Danbury list expires in October, and if my name DOES come up for an interview, I do not want to get excluded.

Gee, you'll NEVER guess what happened to me!!!
