  1. Probably just like many things in the fire service.... TRADITION!
  2. I am fairly certain the pictured was just to introduce some fun here, but in respone to Oswegowind: Haha, certainly Photoshopped. You can see the shadow of the plane on the falling water, but no shadow on the ground. The car looks somewhat like it was actually there, but the smoke and flames were edited in also! Lol, light colored smoke from a car, pssh!
  3. I saw this on tv, and I LOVE IT!! No false advertising, just a crafty marketing ploy! Bravo to those brothers for using ingenuity, raising money for themselves, and having and providing some laughs while doing so!
  4. Hahaha, that sucks. I have always wanted to go up to Lake George, but I never knew anyone who went up there, and those who I eventually met who did, never told me until after they had returned. I hope one day to make a venture up that way!
  5. [sarcasm] I have NO idea what you're talking about EFFP411![/sarcasm]
  6. http://eastfishkillfiredistrict.org/Upcoming_Events.htm Chili Registration Information In addition, ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY!!!! As mentioned above, previous recipients included the Belle Chaise FD in Louisiana, following hurricane Katrina, and the WMC Burn Center. Many patients have been "adopted" by this committee, and they provide companionship with visits, and presents such as laptop computers, and toys, and many other things to brighten the days of patients of ALL ages in the Burn Center. Come out and spend a few bucks. There is always also a 50/50 with THOSE proceeds going to benefit the Humanitarian committee as well. And one can always just feel free to donate regardless of the event, there are donation collections accepted. This is really a great cause than helps a lot of people. And the food ain't half bad either! I mean, for $5 all you can eat Chili, Chowder, and Wings???? I'm buyin' stock in Mylanta and Pepto Bismol, and Beano now!!!!!
  7. I'm sure it would be VERY confusing for those who use the expression "Get me a bus on a rush" Next thing you know, that rolls up.
  8. Already been discussed almost 2 weeks ago!! http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=19...mp;#entry100203
  9. No, unfortunately, it was in the house the whole time, and it was a TIGHT squeeze on either side, I was not able to get a photo of all the compartments due to the space restrictions :-/ Sorry. Hey, whatever works! Always knew my gf would come in handy!
  10. I stopped by there a little more than a month ago with a friend and our GFs, and one guy on duty took us through a compartment by compartment tour of the rig. Amazingly nice group of guys down there!
  11. At the operators table, there is usually a guide with information telling you what that specific vehicle is rated at, max height, max reach for all vertices, horizontal, vertical, and reach below grade too.
  12. You know, I find it despicable that my namesake will be lost!!
  13. i don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that FDNY already gave all their guys bail-out kits. At least, I thought I had heard they did shortly after this incident already.
  14. I also was VERY shocked at that issue. It almost seemed like he did not even hear the words "may-day" being issued. On a side note: Just a little FYI. MAYDAY, as it is spelled for us today, is derived from the French phrase "m'aidez" (pronounced the same was as mayday) which, when broken down, is "me" (pronounced muh) and "aidez". "Aidez" is the plural form of the "you" conjugation of the verb "aider" which means "to help" Together, the literal phrase is "you help me", or when used in the French context "HELP ME" Sorry, just figured I would throw in a little information to educate everyone Thank you 4 years of French class!!!!
  15. One word: WOW
  16. I was kind of curios the same thing. I am wondering if it has to do anything with the fiscal issues. Just a wild guess, I really have no idea.
  17. Hmm...5 minutes away from my house....free beer.... COUNT ME IN!!!!
  18. 84 with my name. Surprising!
  19. No roof rack? What do you mean by that? All the newer cruisers I have seen all have that same LED arrowstick in the back, yet I have never been able to identify it myself.
  20. Very cool...very cool!
  21. A wonderful and powerful story. http://www.whoisthemonkey.com/videos/42/worlds-strongest-dad
  22. Ok, thank you for that clarification. I only took a quick peek at it (was on my way out of the house and wanted to throw my 2 cents in). I was also thinking of similar constructions I have seen using granite, brownstone, etc....
  23. Also looking at the overhang up by the roof. While I am sure they were strong and reliable back in the day, I don't like the idea of an aging granite overhang 30-40 feet above my head.
  24. Used to see this unit up around me for the longest time. Haven't seen it in about a year or 2.
  25. Also, trying to stay on topic , what is NYSP doing as far as warning package on the new Tahoes?? I have only seen LEDs on the CVs (minus some LEDs in grille for Tahoes, and of course the LED modules in back of the lightbars).
