There are a lot of different aspects of the Emergency Services to be looked at. I know that about a year or 2 ago, there was a study that was released, referring to the state of the emergency services sector of Dutchess County, and a Symposium held at DCC with the results. Unfortunately, I did not get to go, but wish I could see some of the results turned up. I am far too tired, and it is far too late right now for me to post any more, but I will come back to this topic tomorrow, when I am a bit more alert, and composed, to, well, compose my thoughts into word form, lol!

Thought this unit looked familiar Seth. Although not in a firefighter mode, I found a thread from right after the major flooding earlier this year. http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=17...bious&st=20 Page 2, JBE made a reply. This was a thread on "High Water Rescue Vehicles".

Yessss!! Thats it!! Thanks jack!! I knew I was somewhat close!!

Yes, adding dish detergent works with the same basic principle as a Class A foam, breaking down the sarface tension allowing the water to penetrate better (sounds dirty, doesn't it ). I thought I have heard of people adding ethylene glycol to their 2.5s to prevent from freezing. Wish I had known to do that 2 years ago, so it didn't bust the pressure gauge in mine.

You know, that is a good question. I actually was wondering about that a few months ago. He had said he wanted to take one course that I had signed up for, and after that, never heard from him again.

Seconded!

**DISCLAIMER** I hate to have to make a disclaimer, but I don't want anyone to take this personally. These things happen every day, but no single person/department is being singled out. This is a mere generalization ******************************************************************************** ***************************** I agree with you 100% dfdallen. It happens ALL over the place. I am friends with people from different departments all over my county, and we get along great. Many of us were taking Fire Science courses together, and since we get along good at a younger age, there are hopes relationships will bring something good down the road. Unfortunately, many of our departments have some problem with other departments because years ago, one guy broke someone else's GI Joe, and they never got over it, and now they don't get called for mutual aid, and no one REALLY knows why they don't get along. Its high time people sit back, and re-evaluate what they are in this field for. It seems more nowadays a pride thing, than to actually be out there to protect, and aid the public! Maybe reorganization, and making alliances is the way to go for some of the less progressive, and more deeply "traditionally entrenched" areas to try and get along. This is one reason I love this forum. I get to talk with SO many people, from all over, and who honestly seem to want to learn, and make a difference. I hope one day, for all the talk of progress, and things actually begin to make a great difference, but I guess as with anything, we have to take baby steps. Well here is to EMTBravo, the first of many steps in the right direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/rant]

Well, I had tried to update my AIM SN back in the day, and I wanted 'firefighter484' but it was already taken. My younger brother had a screenname that has the letter 'x' at the beginning and end, and I liked how it looked, so I tried it out with my name, and it seemed to fit! The 484 comes from my month and year of birth, 4-84, April of '84. Hence, xfirefighter484x!

:o Can't say this is the first time I have heard of an instance like this.

A reporter talking about a previous MVA involving an Ambulance at an intersection witnesses another MVA at the same spot while broadcasting live! http://www.break.com/index/car-accident-on-live-tv.html

I am not 100% positive who the person was, but someone made the ultimate gift.

I cannot speak for every singly Organ Transport agency out there, but all 3 vehicles I saw were fully loaded. A team of about 5-6 walked out with each set of organs as they came through the ER.
-
Why "fix" something that isn't broken??
-
They transport an entire team that come to assist with the harvesting, TO the harvest site, pick up the organs, and then transport the organs AND team to the delivery site for the transplant. Each seat in each vehicle was filled by the harvest team, and the "trunk" space held the organs. Good question though wcr20! Sorry I did not make that clear earlier!!

I remember seeing what happened when Alamo absorbed Sloper-Willen. I can not envision too many positives here.

Amen!!

Apparently, it comes down to this... Cruising EMTBravo! Actually, we DO. do a LOT of xBox.

I am awaiting to hear from the "official EMTBravo meteorologist", Emt301. Apparently a former weatherguy/meteorologist.

I wholeheartedly agree, and it made me curious too, about the VTL "requirements" or whatever section authorizes them to use red lights and sirens, and I have been searching online with little to no success (a lot of info on how to BECOME a donor). Also, as far as flying, yes, they do sometimes fly, but the weather that day was less than favorable, and I am not sure if the air crews didn't want to fly due to that fact.

Thank you for the support ALS. ac316scu, this was not meant as an internet shouting match (as some CAPS conversations are). I merely used CAPS to draw attention to NETWORK. I am sorry you got offended, but it was not meant to be offensive towards you.

;) Well JetPhoto, you hit the nail on the head. I didn't want to come right out and say WHO it was, without it being a matter of public record already. While I was at work, these individuals came through all day as the body was being harvested. From what I had been told, it was that particular individual, but as I said, didn't want to single it out without full details being present!
