I think 'some' people misinterpret my simple statement that DC911 will now officially be calling it Care1 EMS, as a shot at the company, when it is no such thing. There was simply a question back in November why they were not calling them that. IIRC, it was still 'in the works' for the OFFICIAL name change to take place, through whatever applications were made, I am sure with DoH, and any other entities. Can't just wake up and decide to change your company's name and it happens right then and there. Also, in reference to the contract held by PVFD, the CONTRACT was decided by, and signed BY the TOWN itself, NOT the FD. Since those hours for contracted coverage were decided by the town, it said nothing about who HAD to provide coverage after that time. I will not speculate into how pleased/displeased PVFD was by the off-hours service, but word was passed onto the dispatch agency that MLSS would be dispatched during the non-contracted hours. I should also clarify that the Care1 EMS will also be dispatched as they normally would in order of preference by agencies that use commercial agencies for transports (i.e. correctional facilities), and any mutual aid, NOT just as multiple calls in PVFD area. I fail to see how stating this is so terrible. **shrugs** QTIP

I think you are right, some people SHOULD get a grip. I merely stated facts, you sir, read too far into it.

As of 0000hrs 1/1/12, Dutchess 911 is now dispatching the agency as Care1 EMS, no longer Hudson Valley Paramedics. This will only affect 2nd calls in the district during contracted hours, as the dedicated unit is still called 56-79. After contract hours, Mobile Life Support has been chosen by PVFD as the ALS provider.

One of our units, I will spare who it actually is, has had some real gems. In regards to an erratic vehicle complaint: "...I am behind that vehicle now, just waiting for him to do something wrong... And he just did..." In regards to a domestic; "Unfortunately I am familiar, show me enroute"

As I stated in my posting... Look at the date of the thing you quoted...

Very good points. Let's not forget that those wind turbines are massive electric generators. Even once wound down, if no capacitors of any form to store energy, there is sure to be plenty of residual electrical energy there, and we all know a burning transformer on a pole, or downed electrical line doesn't get touched until the Utility Company will prove it's dead, the same precaution should come from an electrical "factory" for lack of a better term!! Jet, thanks for bringing the Cell Tower issue to light to, never really considered that!

It's that time of the year again. Just remember, IA's are for CONFIRMED incidents only, these malfunctions do not count. Shoutbox posting for developing incidents ARE acceptable.

Looks like they took the video down.

Mutual, in and of it's nature, means it is shared by both parties. Mutual ends when it stops working both ways. Some departments use the 'mutual' system to add numbers for their runs, and to aid in justification of existence. No longer it seems, is the majority of 'mutual aid' as such, it is more automatic assistance.

Nice job guys. Just goes to show that the vast majority of people in this field REALLY are in it for the right reasons! To be there for people when they need it the most, and this looks like something this kid needed, and loved. Nice job HFD!

I agree! People have heard of the concept, but it really is different to actually SEE it first hand!! Also, quick question, why the lettering on the windshield of the Rescue "LADDER RESCUE". To ME, I would think something with an aerial device would be labeled a "Ladder" whatever, but I see no aerial. Just for clarification, thanks!!!

Mark, this is a new feature put in place to bring to attention/remind people that they are about to post in a thread that is "dead"/old. Some people like to go in and post comments in old thread for reasons unknown, sometimes just to comment and build up post counts. This by no means should discourage someone from posting that really has something to contribute to a topic. Just because a thread is old and you get that message, please don't feel the need to start a new thread if it already exists, if it is appropriate!

Shame I gotta work...

What about the entire public safety sector? How many future FF are investigated for ONLY Arson history?? That, and if there is no history, look how many FF arsonist there end up being!!! You can investigate everyone's history as much as you want, but it seems that only the specifics apply to the fire service, a history of arson. Sure people have become valuable assets to the public safety sector, even after having a marred past. There are also people out there with spotless pasts who end up having TERRIBLE 'careers' in their service (career meaning only their time spent, not saying a paid member of an organization).
