I can attest that SEVERAL people attended the ER at Saint Francis today, some with some pretty nasty bruises and dog bites. Quite a few stories being told of some brutal actions by PD. Truth behind the claims?? There are 3 sides to every story. One person's view, the opposing party's view.... and the truth!

Despite a valiant effort on her behalf, and the FFs of AFD. Cannot say I am surprised. With the extent of injuries, and her age, I figured it was just a matter of time. God bless!

Just see this guy, he will be the head of the Volunteer Bomb Squad. And here are the Officers: Yes, this is meant as a joke. If we all can't have a laugh every now and then we would all be miserable fu...... well you get the picture

I moved a bunch of posts over to the discussion thread, as they did not relate to any photos that were posted. Please keep all posts in this thread to discuss the photography of this incident. Those posts that were moved can be found at the below link: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=30798

Hmmm, IRC channel or maybe even a Vent channel? We had a chat built into the forums on a couple different occasions, but it never really picked up.

I was gonna say, I thought that looked like Karl!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun time. I was unable to secure a spot this year. *Sigh* maybe next year! -
It is a sad situation. Rather than petitioning to rectify the situation, they simply want to shut down FFD. Their vision to save money is to eliminate the expenditure (need for a fire tax). FFD has 4 staff member on per shift, and do a helluva lot with just those 4 guys manning 2 engines, 1 ladder, and 1 ambulance. Going m/a as FAST to the City of Poughkeepsie on call of a 10-75 (which is another very understaffed group, but a story for a different day). Especially with the economic downturn, has not helped these guy's situation. These are an outstanding group who cover an area of high populous (Marist College, Dutchess Community College, Saint Francis Hospital, Hudson River Psych Ctr, DCDER, and more).

The straight side-on view is deceiving. Once you see the "full length" shot looking down towards the rear of the rig you can see the deformity to the rig. Thanks for providing that information, hope all are safe!!

I like the full surrounding Chevrons!! Looks like a nice piece, good luck with it! As far as with mentioning that it was already involved in an MVA, what is the problem? I don't think there was anything malicious meant by his comment. Would someone care to clarify the circumstances?

Thanks for that bit of info Chief!

After reading the description in the IA section, was the backhoe driving when it was rear-ended? I would assume that the backhoe deployed its outriggers to lift the rear bucket off of the car?? Just curious how this happened.

Working fire in a commercial building, fire in store that had just been vacated yesterday (finished vacating). I was driving home from work, saw a smoke condition, called a friend who lived in that general vicinity of the city, opened my window, and knew instantly that smell of a "worker". My buddy told me, 2 buildings down from him, was a working fire in a storefront. Must be nice to arrive before FD does!! Pictures will begin to upload right before I hit the hay, so they will be good to post here tomorrow. Photounit was also o/s, so if he has anything worthy for us (which I know he will), he might post them. For an easy reference point, this was the storefront adjacent to 911 Uniforms, to the right hand side (looking at 911 Uniforms from the street). They had a heavy smoke condition inside 911 Uniforms, and I hope not too much merchandise was lost/damaged, if any. Cause of the fire is still under investigation officially, but believed to NOT be suspicious, and IS believed to be accidental in nature. Once my pictures are uploaded, they were taken a good 20 minutes earlier than the Poughkeepsie Journal Photographer who has his photos posted below. PoJo Article PoJo Photos

Dutchess works out pretty well. From being on both sides of the spectrum being at a scene where we need to alert the hospital, as well as working in the ER that is expecting to receive a certain number of patients, it works out pretty well. Any agency can call DC911 via phone, or radio, and request that the receiving hospital be given warning of an incoming CPR case, severe trauma (i.e. me working at Saint Francis), or a large scale incident, contaminated pt, etc..... Sometimes, DC911 has gone and alerted our ER of ongoing incidents (cannot speak with or without the request of the IC) and what we might expect. For example, there have been serious MVAs with multiple patients, a few with serious/critical injuries. DC911 has called the ER on a line that few know the number to, and I have aptly nicknamed our "Bat Phone". When it rings, we know it might not be good news on the other end. They also have called us on that line to alert of an medevac incidents in the area. On occasion we have multiple medevac missions either in Dutchess, or in the region, and will give the heads up to us, so we are not all of a sudden inundated with several serious to critical patients. Even if it is multiple BLS patients, to prevent an overwhelming influx via ambulance, its a nice convenience that DC911 offers to the hospitals, and can be a great help!
