Was originally posted in the wrong forum, I moved it to the correct one. I believe the homeowner was txp for smoke inhalation, and shortly after that, a neighbor had an asthma attack, both were txp to area hospitals. I heard something about the ASPCA being o/s for this fire, anyone care to elaborate??

Ok, so nothing amazing, but my brother provided me with the following links with a few pics. He did say that if/when he sees one he will snap a couple pics: http://news10now.com/content/top_stories/1...rs/Default.aspx http://www.newschannel34.com/news/local/st...oWT88Dujeg.cspx

I shall ask my brother, he goes to school up there.

Mark, you know, as soon as I make sure I am off that day (and quite possibly the next) I will definitely be there!!! Last time was awesome!!

Oh my goodness, is that Turborich.... ACTUALLY in turnout gear for once (and not a flycar??) I also spy with my little eye... AFD68 and Onthejob!! Thought about buffing it, but was wayyyyy too cozy in bed (it was my day off, I slept in late, don't be hatin')!!!

I was quoting FIRECHIEF63, referring to that "Bill", the one that always yells and calls ME a buff at scenes, hahaha!! (Pot calling the kettle black.....) I have seen quite a few incidents posted by first responders and buffs alike on FB, nice to get a first o/s view sometimes (although the ones I saw were far from first arriving), but not complaining!

It definitely is an awesome rig. Got a walk-around last week (prior to lettering), and it has a LOT of space for storage, heavy duty pull-out trays (the front compartment is a through and through compt, with a pullout tray up top that slides out either side, and is rated at 1000 lbs), small amount of water (300 gallons if I remember correct, not sure of pump capacity), and even a coffin container up top for storage. Best of luck with it guys!!

What, you didn't go buff this one Bill??

Sadly, I was thinking about how tough it is going to be this year. We're only 1/4 of the way through the year and we already have more than enough for a Top 10!!!!!! -
Let this be the one and only warning. If ANYONE starts to bash another person or organization, their posts will be deleted, and they will be banned. Also, DO NOT let this end up a Career vs/ Volly Bash fest, or the same rules apply as above.

Dutchess County 2008 Top 10 List Incidents were selected by a panel of EMTBravo.com moderators based on, with no factor holding any more weight than another, size and scope of incident, response to incident, loss of life, effect on response, training and operating policy. Rank of incidents was voted on by EMTBravo.com moderators. 1.) Poughkeepsie River Church Fire - October 30th: A 116 year old church in the center of the city caught fire during construction work, spreading fast, completely consuming the main structure. This incident brought a multi-county response. Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread Incident Photos Thread Photounit Pictures 2.) East Fishkill Fatal Car v. Snowplow - February 1st: A tragic, devastating accident took the life of 2 children's mother, her friend, one of her children, and critically injured her almost 2 year old son. The child was transported by ground to St. Francis for stabilization due to weather, and then transferred to WMC for definitive treatment. He survived to present the EMS Person of the Year award to the Paramedic who treated him, at St. Francis' 2008 Annual Trauma Conference (See This Link) Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread 3.) LaGrange FreshTown Fire - April 5th: A patrolling NYSP unit noticed smoke coming from the store, and had 911 dispatch for an FD response. Upon further investigation, noticed flames, had 911 dispatch an FD response, beginning a long duration incident with a nearly half-county region response. This fire was believed to be an arson job. Incident Alert Incident Photos Thread Photounit Pictures 4.) City of Poughkeepsie "Abandon Ship" - June 6th: Initial dispatch for a possible structure fire with persons trapped. Quickly went to a 10-75, followed soon after by a 2nd alarm, eventually ending as a 3rd alarm. County 911 received a cell call from a person reporting to be still trapped in the building which was later cleared up and deemed to not be in the building (by a 2nd cell call, and a search of the residence). Multiple other calls in the district went out around that time, including a rollover MVA, and later a shooting. VERY busy night for City 911 and our own x129k!!! Incident Alert Incident Photos Thread Local 596 Website (with audio on the bottom of the page) 5.) Wappingers Church Fire - May 11th: A new church being constructed opposite the original caught fire. Due to the open-ness of the structure (merely framing) the fire was a fast burning one, leveling the entire structure. This fire generated a response by the FBI and other government agencies (as is standard), to rule out a hate crime, yet it was determined to be accidental. Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread Incident Photos Thread Photounit Pictures 6.) Arlington Mountain Brook Apts Fire - September 6th: Original dispatch for a mattress fire brought a 3 Alarm response when first arriving units found heavy smoke showing from all ends of the top story of one apartment building. Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread Photounit Pictures 7.) LaGrange LOOP Bus Garage Fire - May 18th: A fire that started in one bus in the county's bus garage spread to 8 other buses, generating a nearly half-county response. Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread Incident Photos Thread Photounit Pictures 8.) Northern Dutchess/Southern Columbia County - Explosion/Working Fire/Medivac - August 31st: A gas leak led to the structure exploding, severely injuring several occupants. Two medivacs transported patients to trauma centers, and two other patients were transported by ground. Incident Alert Incident Workshop Thread FIRECHIEF63 Pictures 9.) New Hamburg - Adjacent Structure Fires 2nd to Lightning Strike - June 10th: During a large storm rolling through the entire southern half of the county, 2 separate private dwellings, adjacent to one another, both experienced fires after lightning struck a transformer, and somehow managed to break and ignite gas lines running to each residence. Incident Workshop Thread Incident Photos Thread Photounit Pictures 10.) IBM Poughkeepsie/Arlington - Christmas Morning - December 25th: Early Christmas Morning, IBM Emergency Control and Arlington Fire were dispatched to a report of a shed on fire on the roof of IBM Building #3. Upon discovery of a large plume, a 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted. A quick knockdown was made, despite tough access to the location. Incident Alert Photounit Pictures **Honorable Mention** Tivoli MVC MCI - June 22nd: An MCI was declared due to lack of resources to handle the 5 critical patients from this MVC. Incident Alert **Special Mention** Although not an incident, our own fdny2817 was presented with the Liberty Mutual Firemark Award, for his innumerable contributions to the firefighting field, and to the community abroad. I saw Episode 1, and was highly impressed. Yes, a little "Hollywood-ed up" but all in all, not too terrible.
-
I hit the big 2-5 today too. Happy Birthday, fellow EMTBravo-ers!!

Anyone have any Dutchess info??
-
The only agency that I personally know of who uses EMT-I around this region is Mobile Life Support Services, but they are in the HVREMAC. I cannot speak for Westchester.
-
We just recently acquired one in our ER. It has been a great tool. No mussing and fussing. We have gotten calls from some of the other floors who were doing difficult emergent intubations asking for our Glidescope, and of course, who usually gets stuck running it up??
-
Quite an interesting read, and well versed. Its not just a bunch of ramblings asking for money or support (like some auto makers and banks) ooooops, did I say that out loud??? This is one of those articles I hope leads to some action!!
