They are turned in because they get physically shredded so they can NOT be used again.

I have been searching for a statute, or some explanation on the DMV site, but not able to find one yet. I do know it IS illegal to sell old plates, as they are supposed to be surrendered to be destroyed once they are no longer valid.

Granted, I don't know the situation that led some of these people to their status now, but this is how I see it. Working in the ER, I see this exact situation on a daily basis, more often during the winter, for a nice warm soft bed. What REALLY irks me, is that all the money I pay into taxes, that go to pay for these bums, come from me serving them in the ER. So when I am paying taxes by working, and they are benefiting, it is doubly killing me. I am paying them, to come in, and be served BY me!!!!!

I don't know what other jurisdictions it could be filed for, but I took it for Dutchess County, and City of Poughkeepsie.

Was quite disappointed to find out that all the tickets were given out at 1PM, and I didn't even get to get a tour of the boat!!!

I remember the purple neon signs vividly, just cannot for the life of me remember where it was!!! Scary I remember that????? I sure am!!!!!! I always thought it was either somewhere in the area of where Barnes and Nobles or IHOP is now...

I was thinking the same exact thing. Good old Caldor (now Kohl's). Jamesway now the empty shell in the former Dutchess Mall. So many memories there growing up (my mother used to work in a store in the Dutchess Mall). Service Merchandise on the opposite end... Was a sad, sad, sad sight when participating in the training that was held there with the FD's before it's demolition. Sad to see what was once such a thriving mall a barren, Black Mold infested wasteland... Ames that used to be in the Village of Fishkill, down by Rombout's firehouse. How about Lechmere and Steinbach's?? What about Bradlee's, wasn't there one of them locally??? And Sizzler, I remember there being one on Rt. 9, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember where it was?!?!?!?! Boy, I was young back during their tragic downfall's, but still remember them vividly.... Lol, back on topic though, I welcome Sonic, White Castle, TGI Fridays, Dave and Buster's to this area.... 'bout friggin' time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I get a chance to swing by and check it out!! I am amazed at how these boats are managed. It served for 63 years with FDNY, and has been in the water since it started 78 YEARS AGO, AMAZING!!!!! For ANY boat, that is a feat, let alone a front line piece, is mind blowing!!!

There was, it is now I believe a Japanese restaurant. I SO believe there was a Denny's also further up on 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie IAO the Poughkeepsie Plaza Mall.

Even hitting a deer, who wouldn't stop and check out the damage to their vehicle?? Not in a derogatory manner, but, excluding even humans, isn't it a crime to leave the scene of an accident, even if it does involve just an animal (assuming there is damage)?

+1 So do you have to place an online order, or can people swing by Main St. Station and just buy 'em?

Agreed. His 'over-the-top' attitude and enthusiasm for his job are to be lauded. I did like him too! RIP In talking with mbendel36, Mark told me "Whoa, there is no beard that can match his".. To which I had to remind him, that no one holds a thread to the beard of the Almighty Chuck Norris... Lol, and no, I didn't make this picture, I found it online!
