  1. I was the same way. I was on stage/lighting/sound crew back in HS, and daily, I had a multi-tool on me, or in my locker. Scary how much all that has changed in the short time since I have been in HS.
  2. If nothing else, it just PROVES that these FF were in fact doing their job (the occupancy/fire inspections). WPFD Brass said they knew about the photos, nothing is mentioned about any suspensions or anything punitive (at this time at least). While I do not live near, receive, nor subscribe to the JN, I still call poor taste, and say to the JN "Shame on you for trying to sensationalize this." 2 Thumbs Down JN! [/rant]
  3. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
  4. Unfortunately I missed out, was stuck @ SFH. I drove down to check it out after my shift ended, at which point they were re-racking the engine's hosebed. Not much left to the building except a very few structural members, and about 10% of a roof...
  5. The agility is not the CPAT, it's called the FPAT, Firefighter Physical Agility Test. It is similar in organization to the CPAT, but a little more time is given. This is to weed out the ones who are serious about wanting the job, and some who aren't physically fit (and trust me, even at a "slow" to moderate pace, one can easily breeze through this course, as I am far from in the best of shape, but still can do well at it). Those who do not show up for this (and who got a letter to show up) are automatically dropped from the eligible list, and those who fail the test are also dropped from eligibility. Good luck to all taking the FPAT, start exercising now, cardio is where it's at!!
  6. Previews looked too Hollywood for me, and judging from several of my friend's statuses on Facebook, it bites... hardcore...
  7. That was the first thing that popped into my mind, and I am QUITE sure that some twisted person out there decided it was worth a try... "Best" quote from that scene in The Dark Knight; EMT: "It looks like some sort of..... contusion....."
  8. Results have been/are being mailed out!! I know some people have received them in the mail already!
  9. What is that other truck in the last pic? Looks like the Ice Cream Man, and the beer delivery guy collided...
  10. You will probably find those same stringent requirements all around these days. I just got mine last month, and it took a LONG time, and a LOT of info was asked for prior. If you have a real/legit reason to carry, then the wait and amount of info you need to give will be well worth it...
  11. Congrats to our own Chris192!! Hopefully a politician now with a brain and an actual constituent to the average Joe!!!
  12. "Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning... Red sky at night, sailors delight"
  13. That would mean I would have to be up before the crack of dawn.. ain't gonna happen!! Beautiful shots tho!!
  14. http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article...NEWS01/90910048 Link to Incident Alert Ambulance report to SFH related two DOA's, with multi-system trauma to one driver (the pt they were txp at time of report).
  15. Updated Poughkeepsie Journal Article http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article...NEWS05/90910048
  16. I haven't looked into it, but what is the cost factor? Would it be a "practical" alternative for a department strapped for funding???
  17. I once heard that a Positive Pressure SCBA is operational down to 15 feet below water, anyone have any knowledge of such?
  18. Also consider this, what is the composition in PFDs? Lightweight foam for flotation, and what does foam do when exposed to heat/fire????? I know that your SOP states to wear it underneath your Turnout, but how is that in reality, I have never tried it, it just seems completely impractical. Thank you for bringing up an excellent real-life discussion. The pictures to go along with it make it a FANTASTIC teaching tool!!!
  19. Glad to hear the brothers made it out unscathed!
  20. Lieutenant J. Karn... Although I am not sure if he would take the Captain comment as a compliment or too much for him, lol!!
  21. Ladder 1 at the 1/2 corner: TL 2 at the 1/4 corner: Eng 2 and 41-11: Alamo Medic 2/RNMedic08 keeping Eng 3 from running away!
  22. Haha, sorry Dan. My laptop with my media card reader crapped out on me today. I had to find other methods to get my pics on the computer. As for the MVA, I had just gotten back home and was unlocking my front door when the tones dropped, and did not make it there.
  23. One of my friends (won't mention his name because I call him a traitor, lol) is a BNN poster, and he posted a link on his Facebook to an article in the NY Times from last year, where BNN was written about. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/17/nyregion...aking.html?_r=2 Sounds like its time to round up the cavalry and get EMTBravo into the limelight... or do you think its better as a grassroots/underground thing????
  24. http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/ems/spinal/ This protocol has been out for several months.
