Sir, to rebut your statement... That logic is like telling a cop "Well, I only killed 10 people, not 15 or 20..." or, "Well, I know I was doing 20mph over the speed limit, but not 30 or 40 over..." Rules are rules, and laws are laws. As much as some people don't like them, its not like they are new, or thought up by 1 or 2 people, they are consensus rules/laws, enacted long ago (obviously some modified as time goes on and needs change), but they are a law/rule for a reason. Sick perverts like that need to meet "Muffin", or "Bubba" behind some vertical bars composed of ferrous material. Just my humble $0.02

Yes Izzy, this was once discussed before. http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=23959

Excellent point, simple, and hopefully effective. Best of luck with this vehicle!

Submit your ideas for the Top 10 Incidents in Dutchess County for 2009! These do not necessarily need an Incident Alert to be considered, as not every incident has an IA!

Sorry, was busy with work. Will try to be posted by tomorrow. -
Lots of good information, that is along the lines of what I was looking for. Thank you!

There are many cold water teams in Dutchess, I was curious about Dive Rescue teams.
-
A fair enough response, and I think its a great asset in the area. I think the DC was trying to figure out what qualifications are required, who deems them a certifiable dive team, and, for that fact, what is the governing agency? I am assuming DC911 has them in the CAD, but as far as the OFPC goes, in their training catalog, on Page 7, under the header "NYS Firefighter Training Standards Certifications", it does list "Dive Rescue Technician", yet I don't know of any OFPC courses regarding diving. Another title listed under this same section is "Surface Water Rescue Technician". Is there some other way that this is achieved, such as, in addition to going through a licensed dive school, do you also have to take all NYS OFPC water classes, such as Swift Water, Cold Water/Ice Rescue, and tie them together, and are then recognized by the OFPC as a "dive team"? Not knocking on anyone here, I just know nothing about this, and am curious how this all falls in place.

I did say Top 10, not Top 100 you know... -

That one I already posted in the EMTBravo Development forum, and I wholeheartedly agree. -

If not, you'll get a blank Top 10 list! -
The Dutchess County Top 10 will be available by the end of the first week, early second week of January.

I want to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to read this. Please, read the whole post, and reflect on the thought behind it. A recent issue/thread made me want to try and express my feelings on how things get run here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on this, and this is merely mine... There is a fine line between moderating, and censoring. This line has to be walked precariously, because when things start to get out of hand, or threats are made, or bashing goes on, someone is bound to get upset. When it gets out of hand, some members ask, plead, or demand that action gets taken. When action gets taken, some members cry, complain, or claim censorship. Its a fine balance to try and appease everyone, and sorry to say, that is physically impossible. The moderators, and administration of this forum do our best to keep it civil, and on topic, while permitting as much freedom as we can allow. There come times that we do have to step in, to keep civil. Should some people grow a little bit thicker skin? Sure, but it shouldn't have to come down to that. No, things aren't always hunky-dory, people screw up, make mistakes, and it is how we learn from those mistakes, and MOVE ON, that really shows our value. There obviously is a reason that people come onto this forum, because that what it is/should be, a place to exchange ideas and knowledge. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/forum EMTBravo is in fact a place to have open discussion, and share questions, and information, of public interest, but there has to be a degree of decorum. As I said before, we're all on here for one reason or another, and the common binding thread, is that we are either involved in, or interested in the emergency/public service sector, and we should be using this forum, and the information gathered/shared here, to better ourselves. We need to stop arguing amongst each other, and take the information presented, and compile it, and apply it. There is a reason that EMTBravo has lasted as long as it has, and endured these same trials and tribulations, because I think underneath everyone's tough exterior, they really do want it to succeed, and be a place to gather with their brethren (and sistren [yes I know I just made that word up]), and better themselves in one way or another. Remember, those who are in the public sector, are there for that, the public, and we are always in the public's eye, so let's start acting accordingly. [/soapbox] Despite the hard times, I personally hope, and am sure I speak for the entire moderating team, that everyone has a safe and bountiful holiday season. I wish everyone a happy and safe New Years, and let's strive to start off 2010 with an open mind, and fresh ideas. -Nathan aka xfirefighter484x P.S. - To hopefully lighten the mood a bit, enjoy this comical Year in Review from JibJab! http://sendables.jibjab.com/originals/never_a_year_like_09

That was priceless, I almost fell out my chair when I saw that picture!

I believe that the only vehicle-specific cascade system around Dutchess is Nichols Oxygen, who has their truck that goes around filling other systems. Any rig with a portable cascade in Dutchess is usually a multi-role vehicle. Off the top of my head, I know of only a few such vehicles (although I know there are more):: Roosevelt East Fishkill Rombout Hughsonville City of Beacon Roosevelt acquired a new (to them) 'Air Lite' truck, within the last year or so (if anyone cares to clarify).

Tough call, but, in the corporate defense, they stepped up to the place, and put down a good chunk of change. I am sure no one twisted their arm to do so.

Chief Flynn, I would venture a guess, that it was approximately 2003, or 2004, when LED lights first started making appearances as warning lights, that the candlepower portion of the law was scrapped. Currently there is no limit to that, although the statute still does limit it to "one blue light visible from 360*".

STL has been around for a while, but the quality of their products, and customer service, is complete garbage.

First, welcome to the boards. Secondly, a bit of advice, SpeedTech Lights are garbage, I guarantee you will have nothing but problems with them, ditch them and get a name brand. Whelen, Code 3, Axixtech, Federal Signal, SVP, etc...

Hello, I am also up that day, and need all my Core! *cringe* Lol, yea, I waited too long...
