  1. Isn't it "Rocket J. Squirrel"?? Edit: Confirmed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_the_Flying_Squirrel
  2. Original thread: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=37938 Since commenting has been disabled for photo and video threads, to my dismay, I have created this thread for related discussions: I am shocked that something happened in Congress other than a filibuster, and low energy mumbling and BS political procedure...
  3. Looking at the thread title, I thought it was going in THIS direction... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmsLUNFk_Qg
  4. Another question to ask is, what are your department's policies/procedures on this topic? If you are a driver/operator, should you be focusing on that function? If your SOP/SOGs state you should be in gear, should you be before entering the vehicle, or once on scene? What are punitive actions if you are not? What if your SOP/SOGs state you will NOT be in gear and you are? There are millions of "Well, what if...." that could be thrown out there....
  5. Never noticed that until you mentioned it. I had only watched the video, not looked at the article!! LoHud Article Title And, for those who haven't already heard this... If a Pro- is the opposite of a Con-, then is Congress the opposite of Progress???

  7. First and foremost, I want to thank our many IA posters. More often than not, the IAs are very informative, well documented, and for proper incidents, according to our guidelines. One issue that we see sometimes, is multiple people posting IAs for the same incident, most likely because they all hit the "Start New Topic" button near the same time, obviously unbeknownst to the others. Now the issue that presents, is multiple IAs, sometimes with all the same info, sometimes each has bits and pieces that the others don't. How does this get managed? At this time, the Moderators, or Administrators go through, and compile all the information, and will edit the FIRST IA POSTED, and add that information in. Any subsequent IA, posted after the first person hit "Post New Topic", will then be deleted. To give credit where credit is due, the authors of the subsequent posts will be added as "Reporters" to the primary IA, and the "Writer" will be the first person who got their IA posted. Ok, you're now asking why I am posting this thread? Well, it is in hopes that some people MIGHT be able to "Self Moderate" when this issue presents. If you are the person who gets your IA posted first, try and look to see if any others IA have been started (if not a time issue; i.e. major incident where most of your time is spent updating your own IA). Should you find other posts, try and incorporate their information into yours, and add them as a "Reporter" If you post an IA, and later notice someone else beat you to it, please, PM the member any information you have, and request to have it added to their IA, and you credited as a "Reporter". If you keep recording information, please pass that along to the original IA author as well. The Moderators and Admins will continue to manage the IAs as normal, but if you see you were the 3rd or 4th person to post an IA, please try and keep the clutter on the boards down, and you can always PM a Moderator for help if you see this happening. A good example of this, that was done today, is the link below: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=37834 Thank you for reading, and Happy Posting!
  8. Wow, a GREAT journalistic piece, ACCURATELY reflecting the purpose of a vehicle, AND, the purposeful spending of tax monies to justify such! Also, the greatest in-depth look I have had of the capabilities of this boat yet! Hats off to CNN for this exposé!!!
  9. For shame, I will be out in Meriden this coming week...
  10. Incident Alert: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=37697
  11. I saw the IA for a boat in distress in Orange County, but I have been listening to a search in the Dutchess/Putnam area. Multiple boats are searching, including Putnam County boat. I have heard "Enforcer 1" and "Enforcer 2" on the air, are those DCSO or NYSP boats? NYSP also have a helicopter up to aid in the search. Searches have been conducted from the Hyde Park Marina south (Enforcer 1), and searches from Whites Marina up to Poughkeepsie. Putnam boat has received reports of possibly in a bay area in Cold Spring. Was just wondering if this is possibly the same as the Orange County incident, or a separate incident?

  14. Used to help re-rack LDH. It appears to have rollers, some I have seen use a conveyor type mechanism. It can be moved from side to side along the bar it sits on.
  15. Interesting to the the E-One in the City. Possibly a trial one? As for the ALF, judging by the year, (I am far from an FDNY buff at all), would it be safe to venture a guess it was a Post 9/11 donated rig? (Take note the replacement rig for that one was a 2002, not even a year after the previous one).
  16. Sorry, couldn't help it. Hopefully you do get the answers you are seeking though!!
  17. Either a hydrant, or calling for a tanker task force. Usually, as the numbers of alarms go up (2nd, 3rd etc...) the amount of tankers that get dispatched will automatically climb. What you usually will find, is a department call specifically for a certain amount of tankers to get dispatched, or ask for specific tankers.
  18. 47-31 is at LaGrange St. 1 (Route 82), 47-32 is at LaGrange St. 2 (Route 55). To the best of my knowledge, no, no department in Dutchess has a Fire Department owned/operated "super tender".
  19. LaGrange 47-31 1989 E-One International Tanker 1500 Gal. Tank 1000GPM Pump LaGrange 47-32 1990 E-One International Tanker 1600 Gal. Tank 750GPM Pump Union Vale had no tanker previous to the purchase of the new one.
  20. Whenever I have seen such a fill valve not on a pump, I will see a 2 1/2" pipe, with a 5" storz adapter. I have not seen a 5" direct tank fill on any of these tankers.
  21. One of the main things that you have to look at, is what will its TRUE function be? Are you looking for the capability to put it far off road, and need water, pump, hose, and hand tools only, a "true" brush-truck? Or are you looking for a multi-purpose vehicle to run to an assortment of calls (i.e. EMS first response, minor MVAs for fluid spills etc....). This will dictate the size, and type of vehicle, and body that you are looking to get. Also, some manufacturers have specialties, in regards to the types of bodies you want (as stated before, a bare bones brush truck, or multi-purpose utility vehicle). Also, what department are you with? What is your budget? What is your response area (lots of hills, woods, fields, swamps or none of the above)? If you give us a little bit more info, we might be able to point you in a specific direction. Hope that helps you out a little bit.
  22. Here is the closest thing I came up with! http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=33639&view=findpost&p=192689
