We couldn't stop laughing at work when we heard that live!

Sorry Jim, I thought about it after posting, and tried to call the number I had listed for you, but it was apparently not the correct one. Sorry if this was posted against your wishes, just glad you are ok.

'Specially the owner's son...
-
Sir, I was more referring to the above quoted laws, and a general statement, than the specific person(s) involved in the LI incident.
-
You know, with all that problems in today's society, you would HOPE and WISH our lawmakers would be more interested in saving the economy, and making our lives safer, yet they are too busy filibustering, and passing absolutely ridiculously and stupid laws such as this. Its no wonder so many people have lost faith in our politicians.
-
Well I wish them the best of luck with it. They've needed a piece like this for years.

This is supposedly a quint, housed at EFFD Station 1 (Hopewell Hose) and 39-46 is still in service, as well, housed at EF Station 1. Anyone have any further details or pictures? Is it new or used (I have heard differing things)?
-
Interesting to hear, before Hughsonville had this, I had never even heard of it, and, now that this discussion has sparked some talk on it, you are only the second person that I have heard of that I PERSONALLY have heard of with it.
-
All Firegrounds work in pairs. For example, Fireground(s) 7 and 8. F/G 7 is a repeater channel, and F/G 8 is a talkaround. You can hear all transmissions from F/G 7 on F/G 8 (since it has hit the tower and rebroadcast), and, so long as you are in close enough proximity, you can hear F/G 8 transmissions, on F/G 7. Some F/Gs work on multiple towers, and are disabled except for one, and can be switched as needed. That being said, all the odd number F/G are repeaters, and all the even numbers are talkarounds. So long as the talkaround is close enough to our facility, we can monitor those frequencies, and the repeaters can be monitored. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=1838 Channel 1 - Dispatch (only) Channel 2 - Response (responding units, on scene, updates, in service etc...) Channel 3 - Command (IC to DC911 - Repeater) Channel 4 - Command (T/A) Channel 5/6 - Repeater/Talkaround (fireground) Channel 7/8 - Repeater/Talkaround (fireground) Channel 9/10 - Repeater/Talkaround (fireground) Channel 11/12 - Repeater/Talkaround (fireground) Channel 13/14 - Repeater/Talkaround (fireground) Channel 15/16 - Field Operations (Helicopter LZ command --> medivac, knox box activations [Repeater/Talkaround]) These are the main, day to day channels used. Some, but not all departments own their own channels that they will use for internal operations (standard A/F/A, MVC, etc...). County Fireground channels are supposed to be a common channel that all departments in the county have in their radios, and, if a larger scale incident, where mutual aid occurs, sometimes not all departments will have the host department's private channel, so the common County channel will get assigned so communication can occur. Hope that helps!

$$$$$$$ - Leaves more money for bells and whistles. I commend Hughsonville for thinking outside the box! Bnechis, I am not sure if you meant with a mechanical diverter, such as the Hughsonville Rescue, or, if you mean making an upright stack vs. a lower-level exhaust pipe. I have seen both types able to hook up to exhaust capture devices.
-
Another forehead-slapper, think about extended times on scenes, and, positioning of the apparatus, you may have a patient backboarded, laying near the exhaust pipe of a rig unintentionally. I know Hughsonville had a really great option/device for this in their Rescue. An exhaust diverter. flip a switch, and the exhaust routes elsewhere! http://www.emtbravo.com/hugh/HughsonvilleRescue.html

I have met my fair share of people who request medivacs before any first responders AT ALL are on scene. That includes before PD, FD, or EMS are on scene. I know in the fire service, there can be the though "I'd rather have equipment on the road I can cancel if need be, than to be behind the 8-ball once I get on scene". Of course, there is a huge difference between having a medivac in the air, on the way, than an engine company, or ladder company.
-
Very poignant article. Something that most responders do not even bat an eye at, or take into consideration. Can't even tell you how many people that came in via medivac when I worked in the ER, that were discharged the same day.

I can see a visible badge, or something that someone could recognize as representing solely a Police agency, might be subject to vandalism of sorts. I would HOPE and think that crosses would incur less of such. If only I lived out there, I personally would replace the forcibly removed memorials myself, thereby eliminating the involvement of the UHP themselves.

I looked at their selection of warning lights, and they all appear to be knock-offs/no-name brands. Not ALWAYS a bad thing, but I have found through experience that you get what you pay for. There area several dealer's I have dealt with in the past. http://www.sirennet.com http://www.strobesnmore.com http://www.lshlights.net Visit http://elightbars.org/phpBB3/ , it is a lighting enthusiast forum. There are dealers, manufacturer representatives, retailers, installers, consumers, you name it... all members there. And, a lot of members there are VERY knowledgeable with the technical aspects of their products, you will NOT be disappointed.
-
There are a lot of other brand names out there that have come a LONG way from where they started, and some, IMHO, rival Whelen with options and technology. 911EP Axixtech Sound Off Signal Star SVP (made in NY) Those are just a few examples.

What is your budget? There are "economy bars", or, if you have the funds, you can go all out, and get one of the more upper line models. Also, what will the application be? Will it be a single purpose, such as a POV, is it a chief's vehicle, or will it get used for multi-purposes, such as a POV, and a plow vehicle in the winter, where the ability to change colors/have multiple different colors be accessible?
-
STL are garbage. Go onto http://www.elightbars.org/ and post this claim. You will be laughed out of the forums. In all seriousness, one in a dozen people who use these items are pleased with their quality, performance, and/or tech support. When you have an issue, try to get them replaced. You will be lucky if they ever even reply to you, let alone if you get your matter resolved. I have purchased several items from Sirennet.com over the past several years, and always pleased with the service, and pricing I get from them.
-
What you gain from the price, you lack in quality.

If things are channeled through appropriate means, i.e. if a FD has a PIO, and it is released for public knowledge/benefit, or as a "promotional" item, then yes. Such if said videos were recorded from a "dash-cam" as was discussed in another thread here, versus a member who records something on a personal recording device, and posts it of his/her own accord (without clearance from their FD), then I would not say it might not be appropriate.
