At Noroton FD (Darien) we have a 27' Boston Whaler Challenger Fire Boat, which remains in the water year round. Fire Suppression and Rescue capabilities, one bow mounted deck gun and a mid-deck hydrant for operating multiple handlines.

amazing how often common sense is overlooked to blindly "play by the book"

Sad day, but nice to read something that makes you truly respect all that is great about this country. Its just a shame it takes something like this to remind us of what America should be, not the crap we read in the paper or see on the news on a daily basis. RIP
-
The 72 Maxim is still at Noroton, it is our 2nd due engine.

couldn't agree more... I would definitely be willing to pay an annual membership fee. Given that most of us probably check this site a minimum of once a day it would only cost pennies a day.

its time for the self-serving politicians to go before they ruin this country for good!

two dominators in the grill? they hoping even blind people will see it coming? nice looking... lets see the light show

Its always a slow news day in nebraska, probably the biggest news story since last years corn crop numbers.

salvageable?

Just wondering if this is an early april fools joke? The entire department seems a bit absurd if their apparatus are reflective of the department as a whole... worst of all is that ambulance... is it really an ambulance or they just throw the patient into a large rear compartment? Hate to be part of the public fitting that diesel bill.

Reverse discrimination at its finest! Just another reason this country is going to hell quickly, doesn't make sense to me to give the unqualified (no matter what color they are) a position they DON'T deserve. People in high places, ie politicians, better start getting off the "politically correct" bandwagon and begin to realize they are destroying the fabric of this country allowing such ridiculous decisions. If everyone is equal, and skin color doesn't matter in this country, then why do certain groups continually claim that their skin color entitles them to different standards? Vulcan is allowed to get away with it, but god forbid an "irish american" group protested something in this manner, they would be ruled against and probably be called insensitive racists! A complete double standard and there will never be true equality until everyone gets treated the same in every situation.

Sounds like a "grade a" a****** to me. Let's see how immature ffs are if he ever has the audacity to call 911.

wow, a great idea. It's nice to see some agencies trying to be proactive and get "in front" of some of these medical issues. As far as co-responding with EMS, its a very rewarding practice. As an EMT-I in my town we ride in one of two fly cars and meet our 3 BLS ambulances on scene. Most of the time you're there to be a guiding hand if needed, but sometimes its necessary to step in and take over in "out-of-the-norm" situations. I hope this new Medic program works out for them.

And the new truck of the year goes to...
-
That is one hell of a light package! Great looking chief's truck
-
Its a lot easier to replace a fire truck than it is to replace 4 state troopers. Good job to the local FD in taking care of scene safety in an always precarious situation.
-
nice trucks, but they're still the second best department in the Town of Darien... Just Kidding of course (maybe?), but it is nice to see some "old school" apparatus still in service.

its a shame that the idea of being "politically correct" and well-intentioned movements such as affirmative action and equal rights have gotten so wildly out of control... Its sad to see that the most qualified individuals aren't being rewarded with the deserved leadership positions, especially in a line of work where sometimes you only get one chance to make the right decisions and take the right actions... I wonder if John Q Public really cares who or what you are when you are trying to save a loved ones life.
