Get well soon brother.

I have been into lifting for about 5 years now. I would say take baby steps. Ease your way into workouts and over time up the intensity. Don't go to hard to fast. At least 30-40 min of cardio a day is a good way to start. It can be as simple as walking and then gradually increasing it over time. Also try to eat 6-8 small meals a day. Anything can be counted as a meal, so like a healthy snack can be considered a meal. This will keep your metabolism running all day and help to burn off fat. As for gaining mass. I usually start the day with a protein smoothie with protein powder, some fruit, milk and ice. After working out try to consume a lighter protein shake within an hour of working out. Maybe just water or milk with protein powder.

Its all about cash. I dont care who sits on these boards and how many different depts and companies have reps sitting in on these commities. In the end fire departments arent hiring as many people as before. That means these companies like morning pride and others werent making as much equipment, and their profits were down. So lets get the NFPA to come up with this new 10 year policy so we can make some money. You know someone got their pockets lined as well to get this to pass.

Why do they remove all the lights from it?
-
That guy got trucked and then they took off and left him behind! That was great!
-
Never mind the test. Lets just give them the job. Why bother even seeing if they can do the job at this rate.
-
nycemt728..I dont think it would still apply. The company disbanded and was no longer an orginazation. As far as seeing any of their credentials, they refuse to work with any office in the 3rd batt. or the 6th division to show their charter or any paper work showing they are ligit.
-
Fire42resue..they are not being picked on. They are not trained to our standards. At fire or emergencies they are very disrespectfull, and make unprofessional transmissions on the radio. In the past they have blocked fdny rigs at jobs, and they are very unwilling to cooperate with us.
-
They pointed a BB gun at the cops! They are lucky they didnt get shot and only got hit with water.
-
Not to start a pissing contest. But if you watched any of the media coverage on this you would have thought the FDNY wasnt even there. It was so bad that my g/f who was watching the news asked me if the FDNY even had dive teams b/c she said she was only seeing ESU and NYPD guys getting interviewed and the news casters kept saying great job by the NYPD.
-
What a shame. I love those Mack TLs and Engines. One of the best rigs ever. There arent too many out there anymore. I do see one that currently sits in a lot in Yonkers with some other spares.
-
From the pics of the Mack that was going out, it still looked to be in great condition. Why did they choose to replace this rig? Mechanical problems maybe?
-
I drove by this yesterday as R1 got on scene. Any idea how this happened? They must have been flying to get that high up into the trees!
-
I dont know...I like it. It seems pretty acurate to me. Who would have thought there would be a day when Code 3 was making a 63 Engine model!

i feel compelled to just mention the fact that vital services life saving services and quality of life services are just being attacked by individuals who are just trying to justify their existence. a study is comprised in an effort to try and mark up the good record these services have demonstrated over the years. it seems quite evident these people are trying to save their job at the risk of taxpayers by telling the towns , villages and citys how to save money. it is a shame and a pity that to justify ones job one has to potentially threaten the safety and lives of others. can costs be effectively cut across the board...? yes of course. towns like greenburgh n.y. should and must consolidate in areas but not at the risk of safety.

When I was about to graduate proby school, they had Brendan and Gene come and show us the power point and talked to us for about 2 hours. You could have heard a pin drop while they were telling us their stories and showing us the different pictures and diagrams. Being in proby school you dont really understand how dangerous or how quick things can change on the fire floor. The talk they gave was very sobering and a good way to get our heads straight about what we might see someday on the job. I will never forget their talk and the expressions on their faces as they shared their stories with us.

i have seen con ed trucks around here in Westchester/NYC area that have those lights as well.
-
Thats good. I feel terrible for the guys on the list who got the shaft and should be on the job.
-
I am trying to get my tow endorsement and get a side job in the tow truck industry. If things up here operated anywhere near those conditions I would look into another line of work. Also if I was a resident of Phili, I wouldnt let any of these low lifes near my car.

The FDNY had a few of these ladders back in the early 90's. I know that Ladder 38 and Ladder 165 had them. I also think they were 105 foot aerials.
-
Why was R1 O.O.S? Also why were they using a ladder, what happened to the spare Rescue?
-
I spend a week down there every summer and I never knew about this. I will be adding this to my trip to CM next year for sure.
-
Funny that this topic has been brought up b/c I just saw MVPD's heavy rescue on the Bronx River PKWY before. It had been so long since I had seen it that I forgot they even had it.
-
Its amazing, they were given rides and free exams! Isnt that reverse discrimination? As was said by another post before...there was only 1 black person and 2 women in his classroom! Maybe they dont want the job! The judges just bow to these cases b/c in the times that we live in, telling the truth means your raceist. If I were a miniority on the job I would be insulted by this. Are you trying to say that minorities are too dumb to pass this joke of a test. This county is going down in a ball of flame and fast!

I am not sure, but I think it was a fire on the roof, no special units required.
