HOLY CRAP!!! I work in the Bronx and just got off a 24. What a mess! We were responding into boxes blind with no clue what we were going to! We got a 2+2 response to what the ticket said was a Residental Dispatch. What the hell is that? Early this morning we got a call for the engine and truck for EMS mutiple trauma patient. It was someone with a twisted ankle and a brused wrist. I mean come on this us f*%#ing insane!
-
I dont know what it was, but I got to sit in the traffic for an hour while it was going on.

Very true. The dispatch system is very bad. Last summer at my firehouse there was a fire going on one block behind us. We didnt hear a thing until they finally sent us a ticket and by then we were the 3rd due engine and 2nd due truck, when we were supposed to be 1st. Oh and the companies that go in 1st due, their house is 30 blocks south of us! Lucky someone didnt get killed b/c of the dispatchers mess up.

Lights were on the truck, not the engine.

Great looking stadium. I cant wait to see a game next year. Sad to see Shea go.

Looks like even back then the brothers in the Vern were getting the short end of the stick.

LOL you know he hit that foot pedal horn and was like holy....!

I think we are looking too far into this. Its not about having to go to court, or if the case gets dismissed. It is about the trooper teaching the kid a lesson. You can not do as you please to authority figures. If he was not wearing his seat belt and got a ticket, that is the troopers job to ticket him, and he is also teaching another lesson to be safe and wear the seat belt. That is the kids problem if he got rubbed the wrong way, but you can't then flip him the bird and think nothing is going to happen.

What is the row of lighs behind the rear doors for?

Im in if we can collect $2 and put a bit in on that Yonkers ladder. We will have our own fire house!

Job security. Last year we had a kitchen fire, when we got there the occupant had minor burns on his arms. When we asked him if what started the fire, "I was cleaning my oven with gasoline." ....amazing.

WOW! Great pictures, what was taking you so long?!?!?! I remember many of those jobs being a buff back then. Keep them coming.

I miss the days of the Mack. I wish they could bring them back. I dont know if the FDNY has them anymore at a TL spare. But the winter before last 44 truck was running with the old open cab Mack TL as a spare.
-
Maybe MVFD should look into this.
-
I could never understand why someone would want to do that job for free. Seeing as how easy it is to become NYPD. They wait for that job is not nearly as long as the FD.
-
Did anybody notice that the windows on the doors seem small. Whats that about?

I dont know about falling apart, but bids and orders are being placed for new rigs for rescues. When these new rigs arrive and the current ones are placed into reserve, I dont think they will be bad spares for rescue to use.
-
I believe that R1 just got their rig back. I believe that the reason it was OOS for the past months was due to a MVA they were involved in. Not to mechanical reasons.
-
Great photos again!

I am a member of the FDNY. The Rescue rigs are in great shape. Not at all beaten up. We replace our rigs every 10 years. When they reach the end of that cycle, some are beaten up, but most of them are in fine condition to be used as a spare. Because we are a busy department dosent mean we beat the crap out of our rigs. They are well maintained and taken care of. As for Yonkers getting two new rigs. I agree that it is a good idea to get two new ones, and take the current ones out of service while they are still in great shape to use a reserves. Its a shame that most departments have to wait until a rig is beaten and falling apart before getting a new one.
-
In the picture shown above, the body looked ok. A little work and that rig would have been in fine condition. Finally someone shed some light on the goings on in the MVFD. Maybe now some questions will be answered and proper actions taken to get them were they need to be.

Great shots! I remember seeing companies in my neighborhood I had never seen before! Continue the great work R1 SmokeEater! Looking forward to more great shots!

You guys are the best, keep them coming.

At this point of the fire, they shouldnt have been up there. You could hear them cutting, but on a roof like that there is no reason to cut. We are taught that if we even go on a roof like that, you get on, break skylights or any thing up there that is easly removed to get some venting, and then get off ASAP.
