  1. Does anyone know what the Parade route is for this years WCC in Ardsley?
  2. Its is with great sadness that the Tarrytowns VFW Drum Corps announce the passing of our Drum Major and 60 year Life Member Harold Hassett. Harold will be waked at Clarks Funeral in Yorktown on Monday 2-4 and 7-9, From there he will be laid to rest at St.Patricks church in Yorktown. For those of you who have known Harold he will be missed dearly
  3. I know as one of those "Band Marchers for 23 years" and an Ex firefighter of 18 years that when those sirens or airhorn goes off I quickly look behind me to see if there is a truck responding to a call. I have seen people run over, Hit and knocked down and people rushing to get out of the way because when you are in a parade with Trucks Tooting at there sirens and airhorns you tend to block it out until all the sudden theres one right behind you. I believe the No Siren rule was put into effect after a truck was in a parade tooting on his horn and siren then was called to respond to a working fire. But now no ones pauing attention to his Horns and he strikes one of my members and throws her about 75 feet(Yes she lived, But can never march again). After that happened I believed thats when they stopped it all. From my point of view, Yes I think that it should be done for the kids but then again I want to be safe on the parade route and not have to turn around 1001 times to make sure you guys aren't doing your job by responding so quickly.
  4. Hey all Just wanted to know what you all think is the best month to have this parade? The Tarrytowns VFW Senior Drum and Bugle Corps will be hosting there 75th Anniversary Parade in Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow in the year 2007 and we all know how much planning this takes to set up. The first thing we want to do is try to get a month to where we have the chance to make this one of the biggest Anniversary parades Westchester has ever seen. We will be starting the planning for this event in January of 2006 and I just wanted to get a feeling from all the Depts on here since you all seem to know whats going on more then anyone else. So I would appericate it you all could give me some opinions here.
  5. Just wondering where the parades ending. All I know so far is that its starting somewhere by Bed bath and beyond.

  7. Well I just read the article that went along with the pictures. If you read it you would relize that it's not a department. A ex-airforce firman, A DOT worker and 1 member of the local department.
  8. I didn't know either, But from the people I spoke with about it they said it has been in the paper all week long as well as the news.
  9. I was working on 860 Hudson Steet in Manhattan when everything happened. I must say working for Nortel Networks only 4 blocks away from ground zero it was one of the most scariest things I have ever seen. We work on the 17th floor in the building. When the first plane crashed it sounded like a bomb went off somewhere. My whole building shook. We all actually watched the 2nd plane crash into the building. I can't bring to words the reaction we had. We sat there totally silent. To sit there and watch victims hanging out of the hole in the tower mad me sick to my stomach. As a former firefighter when something like this happens you first instinct is to run and start helping. But the situation I was in all I could do is sit there and watch. The reason for this is that when commincations in Manhattan go down it is my job to get it back up. I felt helpless. When the 1st Tower came down my whole Switch(Room with telecommunication equipment) shut down and thats where we lost our 911. I had to do everything possible to get it back up and working which took me until 9pm. To sum this all up all I can say is that if these people hate us so much they can get the hell out of America. Where our troops fight so hard to give us the very same freedom that THEY live today. These people have put a hole in my heart that will never heal. An image that will never fade. But the one good thing that came out of this is that they brought a country so close together that we will stand by our brothers and sisters and unite against any of these terrorist and kick them right where the lord split them!!!
  10. Just wondering who took what?
  11. Hey is there anyway you can let me know when they have the line up ready. I know that my musical group will be marching twice. We will be marching for Croton and Mahopac. Thanks dude.
  12. I will make the call if we get enough together. So far we have 4.
  13. So is everyone good for the 2nd Saturday in October to head upto Liberty Paintball or do we need another date?
  14. Miami Hurricanes!!! Do I need to say more? The College speaks for itself
  15. The 2nd weekend in October sounds good to me...The more we get the better the game. Seeing that September is Convention month and it seems like there are alot of inspections I think we should set it for October. Again my preference is the 2nd saturday.
