Did the wall blow out because of the weight of the water on the roof? Or the force of water? Or explosion?

Can we stay away from the ESU vs. Firefighters? Just talk about what was done wrong and move on. I really don't care WHO was to blame. How about talking about what was done wrong. What was the correct thing to do? What was could have been done if they couldn't wait? (The car was resting on the patients chest and he couldn't breath, for example). Obviously something went wrong. I'd rather learn from it. Not try to be the judge and jury placing blame. But that may just be me.

He's an AMERICAN who has pride in his County, his Uniform and Himself! That's it! Military, Paramilitary or Draft Dodger - who cares? I agree send a letter to his superiors.

As with everything -Believe none of what you hear, half of what you read and all of what you see.

Tappan Zee Bridge is a nightmare when it backs up. When traffic is not moving the only hope is the siren. The driver in front of you knows you're there, but the people 20 cars ahead need to know you're trying to get through. Usually the first one or two trucks or ambulances get through, but then cars fill the lane behind you and pack it in even tighter. That's why it's best for a responce from both ends. But siren wise, you feel like a moron sitting there, not moving and the siren is blasting. Again, hopefully the cars ahead hear it and try to move over.

I don't question the need of law enforcement on the river. I question whether law enforcement has a right or is allowed to to stop a vessel just for the sake of a safety inspection if no violations are observed. I'm no lawyer and have no knowledge of laws as they pertain to the river. But, If I'm operateing my vessel in a safe and lawful manner and have whatever I'm supposed to have visable, then why get stopped? Or, I get stopped once and then again and then again. All with no visable reason to get stopped? That's my question.

So...Would it be okay if as I'm driving my car from Yonkers to Peekskill on Route 9 to get pulled over by every police agency so they can perform a safety check? Or let's make it my commercial 18 wheeler. Safety check in every jursidiction is okay?

Corner of Union Ave. and 2nd St. New Rochelle. Never would have guessed it was a firehouse.

1 - Use of flares. Assign a crew memeber as a spotter. The idea of a utility truck, on the order of one of the HELP trucks has been discussed. For calls on the Tappen Zee Bridge there is nobody better than the Thruway Wrecker Crew personnel. They protect us better than anyone could. 2 - Spimply put - We get called - we answer the call.
-
Our Fire Department, separate from the ambulance corps, has refused to provide any traffic control for ambulance calls on the Thruway. Unless it's a jaws call, fire or fluids, the ambulance corps is on its' own. So when pulling past the scene is not an option, the ambulance is the only line of defense. Chevrons will be on the next ambulance purchased.

All this talk about closing company's leads me to ask those that would know....Are there any areas of the city that are in need of additional coverage/units? Any areas that have poor coverage? Constant backfilling?

BRAVO for the PBA. They are standing behind one of their own. In a world where everyone runs for cover they stand shoulder to shoulder with their comrade. They should be commended, not second guessed.

How many Departments hold annual elections in April every year?

I notice in the Valhalla pictures, firefighters with air packs. This was 1962. What is the history behind air packs and there use?
