Electrics F-ing blow. I was spoiled with the Q on my engine, and never appreciated it till I first had to ride an ambulance with just the POS eletric. People don't move until you are right on their a**. Even if someone doesn't know what the hell the Q is, it sure as hell gets their attention. And for all of those who say that the Q confuses drivers as to the direction its comming from, thats only cause the operator wails on the Q too hard for too long. Vary the the Q and it allows peopel to pick up on the direction you're comming from.

The recoils are amazing. Nothing is brighter or pierces smoke better. They're light weight and they are guarenteed for life, including the LED bulb. They also get over 40hrs of run time on the batteries. While I haven't had the chance to test in a real fire (friggin pleasantville won't burn) many others have comented on how it was the only light they could see when the smoke got real heavy.

Don't sweat it. I know one EMT who in 20+ yrs has never had a save. Excellent emt, just all ways gets the f-ed up cases.

Those are the "greatest" clips...wow, that may be the buffiest thing I've heard in a while

Darwin was right, thin the herd. If you get hurt or kill yourself frying a turkey you probably deserved what you got. Just follow the directions and you get an amazing meal.

In Baltimore...two yrs ago I think; they opened up the confrence with that video, but its two maybe three times longer.

Just wait, soon the guidelines are going to state compressions only when you are performing single recuer cpr.

ER notification works best for everyone involved. Even if you just have the driver radio the ER just to say X# of patients f*cking bad 5 minutes out. Just enough so they aren't blind sided

Arguably the best movie this year, but don't expect an apocolypse now.

ALl right, so we all agree that havign PD follow and staying on your toes is a MUST. What about some tips for restraining EDP's and protecting ourselves from potentially dangerous patients. WOlf's tip for flipping the straps works great. So does keeping a dialog with the patient. If you can keep them talking you can see their attitude and demeanor change and you are more likely to keep the person from just snapping on you. My best tip is when you're strappign someone in that must be heavily restrained tighten the straps when they exhale. You don't want to restrict their breathing, but it keeps them from being able to get that gap that allows them to wrrigle out of the straps.

True, the guy could be the biggest jack off this side of the missisippi, but non the less those guys dropped the ball. Unless you are rotting in the ground or cut in half, I'm gonna thump on your chest till I'm told to do otherwise.

You've gotta play it out by ear, but ALL WAYS check the patient for weapons. You don;t need to do a body cavity search, but if there's any indication of violence you've gotta at least check the pockets. And then the patient, like all patients should be arapped up in a sheet and strapped up. As for bringing a cop. 9 times out of 10 they make the situation worse through no faulkt of their own, but they're cops. People tend to fear them. If I'm willing to transport the patient then I'll be comfortable having the cop follow, but the cop all ways follows.

If you're like me with freakishly large feet, packers shoes in yonkers on ashburton ave is hands down the best. Competiitve prices and he knows his sh!t

I know simply the fact that its a fund raiser for this guy should be enough to pack out the place, sadly its thats not true for alot of people. Maybe a description of whats going on at the turttle that evening will help sway those guys that are on the fence about going. I'll see you all there.

From what i understand, nearly all of the problems peopel ahve been having, alert length, accidental alerts, etc are programing fixes

Damn, city island as probie...thats just cruel. Also makes for a potentially useless probie. I can't imagine the city risking an ff finishing their probie rotation with a chance they may not have even seen a fire.

My vac has brought patients to WP and they were waiting for us to arrive at the door. Even had the ED head come in on it. As for the long transport times from north county...try the north country (clinton county). The nearest level one was Burlington Vt. Without a bird to get you over the lake from Plattsburgh its actually faster to go lights and sirens to Albany (never got a chance to try it though, damn). The long transports are a necessary evil. But liek others have said, if you're more concerned over missing dinner than you are over the best possible care for your patient your wasting your time.

Med control can overide protocols, but at a risk. Most if not all of the responsibility now falls on med control, but there is still a level of liability out there for operating outside your protocols.

Absolutely. And while we're at it why not look around and see what's around before buying up new equipment. Now nearly everyone has a tower, but if you need a stick for what ever reason, the pickings are slim.

If you aren't lucky enough to either be in a community with access to burnable donated homes or know someone in one of those towns, you had better start making friends in other counties.

Everyone mentions driving safety and trainign to keep our guys alive. The single biggest killer of FF's in this country is us. We are eating ourselves to death and not getting off our a$$es to do anything about it. Sh!t happens on the road and in fires that is beyond our control sometimes. Our health and physical fitness is all ways right there. There is no excuse for cardiac deaths to be our number one killer. Sorry for the rant, and thanks for reading.

The best argument I've heard is that the hose type systems are not constantly attached to the rigs. Unless they are every moment that rig is running they don't do any good. The box systems work all the time. Add to that the hose systems are both in the way and are more prone to damage, the box system seems to make sense.

Its in service and has all ready been out on the road. Its called a rescue because its primamry function is as a rescue. Just like all of those trucks out there with pumps on them, doesn't make them engines. They are still trucks. This is still a recue. Just with the bonus of a pump. If I'm not mistaken it doesn't carry hose or water.

I dunno, I think they're getting carried away with the yellow stripes. A little big aren't they???
