  1. Looks like she will go ahead with the planned program, the stage is set.
  2. But she is still warming up to sing.
  3. Good job Greg! That one guy with the negative post sounds like the envious type.
  4. I had a dumpster fire near an above ground fuel tank behind a school. The first thing we did was roll it away from the tank. This might help here with the buildings being an exposure problem, and if they have wheels this might give you enough time to get a line in place.
  5. With the limited manpower and having a tanker using the deck gun would of been a home run!
  6. That seems like a lot of recognition.
  7. You might deserve it, you might not. But why should I have to pay for your gas. You don't provide any services for me. I pay taxes for fire protection already. Maybe the citizens where you volunteer should flip the bill for your gas. Sounds like a bad idea to have people taxed for services they don't receive.
  8. 40 people between the ages of 18 and 22 or 23. Men and women living in a fire house. That should work? what happens at spring break or christmas?
  9. What year is that rear mount? If MV would get the new seagrave mid-mount in service the need to borrow spares wouldn't be such a priority.
  10. The Engine and truck are protecting the scene but they are not positioned as to protect the firefighters as they dismount on the passenger side. They'll be stepping off in to a real danger zone. If a firefighter try's to walk around the front of the engine he'll be stepping into traffic. Going around the back is a big no no. Maybe there is not a riding position on that side or maybe the firefighters are only there to protect the scene and choose to stay in the safety of the rig. Look at how the rear of the engine is away from the traffic where its safe and the cab where the firefighters get out is right near the passing traffic.
  11. Where I work The Deputy Chief Is the IC and if he needs mutual aid his aid will notify our dispatchers who will contact 60 control. 60 control has our mutual aid list. Its important that our dispatchers know who's coming and where their going incase another alarm comes in. There's been times when the dispatchers have been left out of the loop by a coordinator. Our dispatchers then sent mutual aid company's on calls when they were already sent to the fire scene without them knowing, causing confusion and a delay. For example the dispatchers would have mutual aid in town to cover a firehouse. Then they get re-routed to the scene by someone else. The dispatchers thinking their available send them to another call. They don't respond. The system works great for some departments, It seems to add some confusion where I work and might need to be re-thought as to how the battalion can best assist. No matter what I've experienced I know the intentions of the Battalion coord. are to always help the best they can.
  12. I agree that the urgency is gone if it is determined to be a recovery. But as I asked before how long would it take to get a Volunteer dive team to a scene in lower Westchester if its not a recovery. Which dept's below 287 have them and how long would it take to arrive. If the time to respond is to long they might not be a good option if its a rescue. But it would be good to know either way. Is there a minimum amount of time that dive teams have to assemble and then arrive?
  13. For me the closest dive team isn't volunteer. But if it was how long would it take for them to assemble and arrive? I'm guessing anywhere from a couple of minutes to???? Can anybody help me with this?
  14. Great method and a good drill. The hinge pins will be spot welded as to prevent a break in. If there not that would be great. If you happen to be carrying a saw with an aluminum oxide blade there is another method similar to the one shown. Or you might be able to attack the hinges. Hopefully the owner doesn't have the door chained from the inside.
  15. The link above should make a lot of Dept's think about the training they provide to their firefighters and officers. Not to mention enforcing or having dept. policy's.
  16. Not only is there a delay of 10 minutes before the call for mutual aid goes out. But also the time it takes for the mutual aid dept. to assemble and respond. maybe the call for mutual aid has to go out sooner.
  17. This thread started out as (how might Clinton Young help the FDMV) You turned it into how come the FDMV did'nt help you with a DOA. Its not about morale , its dept policy. Yes where there is an IDLH you will see the FD preform a removel. This was not. It is the pd that does the removel with the M.E. in Mt. Vernon. Although in the past for one reason or another the FD has assisted the M.E. with a removel. The members of the FDMV would never let low moral dictate how the public is served. The members of the FDMV do there best to serve the citizens of Mt. Vernon on a daily basis. We have a good relationship with the PD. This is proven daily. As far as your agency I would think the same unless you speak on behalf of everyone you work with. You might see a need for change in your dept or another dept. If so then there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Maybe theres a need for more personal in the M.E.'s office. Being I don't know your policy's I'll leave it at that.
  18. Speak of what in private? You do realize you're posting on an open forum. What info on what issue? You made a vague statement.....thats all I'm asking about. What do you mean about not working well with other agencies? I've never seen this.
  19. I always see the fdmv working well with all the agencies. Is there something in particular you are talking about? Maybe you need more information
  20. That house is still there, I think its a garage now......I'm pretty sure it was engine 6
  21. Two Dep. Comm. positions. Plus the commish. Does anyone think that WDES is a little top heavy. Could this money be better used? What would his dutys be anyway?
  22. So your answer to Trama74's question is to mention the paid fire service, and cops. What does that accomplish?
  23. I've read on hear before about e.m.t.'s getting badges. It seems for some that once certified as a e.m.t. the only thing to do next is get a badge. My Dept. issued me a badge. Which reminds me, I have'nt seen it in awhile. I might look for it.......maybe not. I never carried it, never felt like I would need it to show somebody to prove what I am. Some guys I know carry it, then lose it, then have to report it missing and buy a new one. Save your money.
  24. these nozzles make a great door chock!
