  1. "I'm trying to put in the 10-92, and the MDT won't take it" To echo Toms' comments, can't think of how many times I've heard that one.
  2. Yet another example of you just can't make this stuff up.
  3. The Dremel Tool Kid does it again!!! Outstanding work, buddy!!
  4. Definitely an author who doesn't like volunteers. The article seriously reeks of bias. "Hopefully carrying water" ??? Seems to me he was surprised it didn't end up leaking beer or booze. En route to one of the so called "Beer bashes". He does have a point, what the hell were junior members doing driving this rig?? Sounds like there's gonna be a LOT of trouble down below the Mason Dixon. Juniors need to be taught respect for the senior people who have been doing it before many of them were in diapers. You may not agree, but be respectful about it. I hope these kids get taken out behind the woodshed.
  5. Bad color, and worse price. They must have really gone for all the bells and whistles and goodies for it to cost that much.
  6. The press would have found out anyway. Arrested or made to make restitution. What bugs me about the stories is the constant mention of his sister, who is an innocent party in all of this. It does seem like the media lately like to jump on the public service sector when they mess up, and then bury the story in the @$$ end of the paper by the want ads when nothing comes of it.
  7. OK wait one second here. How can we possibly be weak?? The guy was accused of using a public credit card to buy personal items. Far as I am concerned, guilty or not, that was a dumb move. Were these purchases approved by the FD in Question?? Where were the items found?? Were they in the Firehouse or in his residence/place of employment??? Ever heard of being held to a higher standard?? Guilty or not, this sort of thing makes EVERY person in the Fire/EMS Service look bad. Public perception, yet again. Imagine this, if you will. You're a volunteer department doing a fundraiser for equipment/apparatus. John Q. Public reads the Journal News and sees the story about this fellow and immediately assumes the worst. John Q: They are a bunch of thieves, (among other descriptions that have been used when someone gets in trouble) they will get none of my hard earned money to squander, my taxes pay for enough of it. Never mind 99.9% of the people in your Department are stand up, do the right thing type of people. One person gets locked up and out comes the VERY broad brush. The broad brush also comes out even if nobody gets into trouble. That's already been discussed here.
  8. Segretis is, or was in Putnam Plaza over by the Rite Aid, or whatever it is now. Please forgive my lapse in memory or not knowing where the other place was/is. I haven't lived up that way in a number of years.
  9. Redendos, or Segrettis??
  10. That's ok, the residency requirement on my job is soon to be lifted. We're always hiring/looking for people.
  11. Since I don't have enough Juice to get a rig up there, I will be more than happy to dress up in any outfit. Ask fitzjr11 of my experiences at a few of the LCFD Explorer Run Xmas parties for the kids back in the day.
  12. Ouch, that's harsh. But, on a more serious note, this isn't the first time this has happened. I can remember a few from the West Indies who suffered the same fate and they were found at JFK, but these folks unfortunately froze to death as opposed to being mangled.
  13. Hubbas was introduced to me back in my Coast Guard days by a fella I knew from Greenwich. I used to go there occasionally when I worked in Port Chester 96/97. Haven't been there since. The chili was like major nuclear blast hot. What was the name of that burger joint at the corner of Boston Rd and Westchester Ave that was open just about 24 hours a day?? It's not there anymore, and they used to have some seriously hot chili. Just a few notches below Hubbas.
  14. Quite a few jakes up there are not too keen on it. I'll watch one show and make my mind up from there.
  15. Knucklehead...
  16. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  17. I dunno where they went. I think there was someone trying to sell the old 49 truck on E-bay a while back. Other than that, I am totally clueless.
  18. I just got a good look at that rig. Only one critique that I can see. The flag on the grille has got to go. It's also nice to see they didn't go with the LED light package..
  19. Ferarra makes really good bodies, as opposed to really good chassis. They probably went with the low bid.
  20. I was at this rally and it felt like I was eating cow dung the entire time. This mayor has done nothing but dump on the FDNY. Why was I there, You ask?? Very simple, HARD TO FILL!!!! This little gem allows the 5 borough residency requirement to be squashed and allows current employees the opportunity to move out of the city. Not that I would just yet, but I want that option somewhere along the way. The agreement was to endorse Doomberg and get the hard to fill.
  21. The reason they went with the E-one Chassis is because E-one was the only company who could step up and get the rigs built in a short period of time, to the specifications designed by the late Capt. Hatton of R-1. Seagrave was overloaded with all the replacement rigs following the 11th. I'm interested in seeing how this rig, when built, holds up to the beating it's going to get. R-1 and R-2 do the most running around, I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them get it to really put it through its paces. The E-ones are chock full of problems as 290/103 said, however, when they ran right, they were a pretty smooth ride in the back.
  22. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get pix. Here's a question, what rig is it replacing?? 12-2-2 or 12-2-3?? Or, is it replacing neither??
  23. I dunno, I don't think I have set foot in Poughkeepsie in over 10 years.
