Keep your fingers crossed.

That's an isolated incident. There are going to be bad eggs on both sides, as you said. EMS just got the new contract this week. It's still crappy pay. But better than nothing.
-
It's been 10 years since the merge. It really depends on who you ask. From my end, we have a good working relationship. Some units out there have good relationships with each other. Other times it's not so pleasant. I think it will eventually get better, it's going to take a little more time. What on-scene fight were you referring to??
-
I would suggest looking to see if Empress has a website, and then check employment opportunities.

You submit photos and a back story to Code 3. Usually units with anniversaries, or an interesting paint scheme(such as TL-78) are considered. Sometimes if you have a unit which won't be hard for them to replicate with current molds(repaints), that's also a plus. Unique designs such as the Quantum are also a factor.

I think the whole popularity contest theory goes along the line of who is so and so's buddy. This is the sort of stuff I hated, along with the clique-ish attitudes. If your father or grandfather wasn't a rock carrier, or you weren't a member of the "in-crowd" you were looked upon with disdain or outright ignored.
-
I'm not impressed. Looks like something is missing here and there. But, it's a different paint scheme and the collectors will eat it up. BRING BACK JETMAN!!!!

There is a plan to have L-114 and E-201 and possibly the 40 Bn move into one house together not too far from E-201's current quarters.

Perception, nothing. In a lot of cases the call is transferred from dispatcher to dispatcher unless you have a 911 center that handles everything. The homeowner is talking out of his @$$, as the public usually does when they don't understand how the system works. The call was placed, the information was disseminated, the rigs got there. Why not look into the other factors, such as tinder dry brush conditions, wind speed, cause of the fire, response time of apparatus(not pointing fingers). 5 minutes plus is an eternity to a person in need.
-
It's too bad they can't provide us with quality rigs that can stay on the road without falling apart.

Might be too much for the city, and it isn't necessarily isolated(seaborne attack). Not to mention the city owns the property and would probably rather get a large investment into the island as opposed to public facilities.

There's been a lot of changes coming down on our end. Whole lot of terminology changes when it comes to unit designations that go along with the national standards. I read it a few weeks ago and my head is still spinning.

Right, and how many other teams have been around as long?? Believe me, I am not taking anything away from the Yankees. I respect them and all the stats they have put up. For the Mets to have a better season than last year, here are some key needs. #1 Keep Beltran healthy. Oops, that's not going to happen. There's money well spent. #2 Bring back the Bensons. I don't care how big of a yap or breasts Mrs. Benson has, her husband is a far better pitcher than the guy they got for him. I'll gladly take Anna over Julio. This view was solidified after watching Julio dish up quite a few gopherballs against the Braves and Nationals. #3 Zambrano must go. This guy has been nothing but inconsistent since day 1. One of the worst trades I have ever seen. And while you're at it, take Matsui with you. He showed his pop tonight in San Diego. Let's see how long before he loses the job to Chris Woodward or Hernandez when he gets off the DL. Keep Aaron Heilman around as that utility type pitcher. Starter, long relief. #4 Pick up another starting pitcher. Dontrelle Willis comes to mind. Trade him for Milledge (which has already been discussed in the media) #5 Keep the other big bats healthy. Floyd, Wright, Delgado. #6 Stop trembling whenever you play Atlanta, They aren't invincible. It's going to be an interesting season.

Looks like assignment cards will be used for when everyone is in quarters. Any other time, they're out the window.

It's going to be a fun ride. I am unhappy that they got rid of Piazza(SHOWED HIM NO LOVE, DAMN YOU, MINAYA!!!), Seo and Benson. Zambrano was a bust. I would be more than happy to take Anna Benson and her big mouth, amongst other things, over this guy Julio they put in the bullpen. Put Zambrano in the bullpen, bring Heilman into the rotation. They have a pretty decent bench, so we'll see how things work out. I'm not the slightest bit surprised that Beltran went down. Not worth the money. Should have kept Cameron. Now just get rid of Matsui and platoon Hernandez and Woodward. As for the playoffs/series, it's too early to tell. If just about everyone stays healthy, we'll see. I want to see how well they handle Philly, after Atlanta. I mean come on, Florida and Washington were pushovers. Florida gutted the team exactly like they did after they won in 1997. I will go out on a limb and say if the Mets don't win the division, they'll get the wild card. I don't know how far they will get into the playoffs. As for you Yankee fans, your team has not won a series in 6 years. I respect the Yankees, however throwing money around instead of developing your farm system and having a pitching rotation that is a little younger could be of help. I know, I know the Mets have been throwing the money around, and I disagree with it completely. Who is the last home grown Yankee player to make it really big??? Jeter?? Bernie?? As for the home grown stuff at Shea, dealing Mike Jacobs for Delgado, bad move as well. I couldn't care less about Pedro. Just cut the toe off and be done with it already. Glavine is another one I have no use for. And I am a Met fan. OK I am done.

Sure, the more the merrier.
-
That's kind of strange considering LCFD and EFFD are in between on 84.
-
Two observations. First, the VIPIR unit has been doing something similar to this in the projects for a number of years. Second one, the ACLU is going to jump all over this one.
-
Shoulda run him the @#$% over.
-
Thumbs down.

They tried the Squrts back in the 70's and they went the way of the dodo. They also tried the LA Light Force concept back then as well.(One boss, two units) I strongly doubt you'll see the quint move into the city.
-
I can understand the "When in doubt, start em out" Philosophy. But, can you justify sending units out when you know it's complete and total BS?? Example, kid calling from one place, incident is 10 miles away and the child says they see it?? I'm not even talking about fires. I guess what I am getting at is a lot of the time it is a judgement call. You just have to know when to use the proper judgement.
-
The rumor has been going around for a long time about 39 going over to 63. The next firehouse scheduled to be built will be a house for Engine 201, Ladder 114(both single houses) and possibly a battalion in with them.
-
Somebody, regardless of age, says they need help, you send it. There are very few grey areas.(Like a kid saying a fire is in Yorktown and they're calling from Yonkers) And when they say disciplined, she will take a BIG hit in the wallet. I would venture to say 30-60 days pay. This may be a pretty bold presumption on my part, but she's probably been around so long, read, jaded, that a kid calling 911 and saying someone is dead or unconcious and thinking it's a prank is not too far of a stretch. I would want to listen to the tape before totally passing judgement. However, right off the bat, this girl should lose her job, or be forced to retire.
