  1. 15 was IC till the 7th showed up. 20 was All Hands Chief. Two Battalions as Foam Coordinators. Not sure what the 5th BC was for. Looks like in total, an All Hands Assignment from the Bronx, with the added response for a foam operation.
  2. Wow, very lucky that pilot more or less walked away.
  3. Hudson Valley?? Empire State?? or BBMS??
  4. I went down to Ladder 2 a few months ago, when they were running the snorkel. They wouldn't even budge at pulling it out for pictures. Looks like they got the tiller they wanted, spare or not.
  5. Spartan Chassis, though. I thought it looked similar.
  6. IIRC Doesn't Miami Dade have a few of these with the Braun bodies?? That might be where you saw them before.
  7. Not to get too off topic, but that's hot..
  8. I'm wondering when they will just come out with a Blue Thunder type helicopter complete with Sidewinders. IMHO, they probably have a couple of Stingers or some form of portable SAM system.
  9. I wonder if there's been any thought given to a cloverleaf and overpass at Pudding Street. I also don't know if it's feasible, but maybe a traffic light?? The reason I ask is because I don't travel that stretch very much, but when I do, I got white knuckles all the way up to 84. MB is right, anytime I hear of an accident on the TSP when I'm listening to the traffic reports, the first place that goes through my mind is either Pudding Street or Peekskill Hollow.
  10. thank you, Heather. Means a lot.
  11. Field Comm is staffed by an officer and two Dispatchers. They respond on all 10-77's 10-76's Multiple Alarms, and other major stuff. The Mack is still around as a spare, I think. They have the Freightliner and a Sprinter as FC-2. Tac Units respond on all multiples, and certain alarms under the SOC Matrix(Person in the water, building collapses, etc.). I have to agree that I don't see the Mask Service Units being replaced for a few more years because they don't take the beatings that frontline rigs do. As far as the Tac Units go, probably a few more years, as they are both only 9 years old. But they are both doing at least 2-3 runs a day.
  12. Personal opinion, leave it up. This is a training tool of what not to do. Doesn't matter if it's a local department, or it's from 2000 miles away. Everybody makes mistakes and this is one to learn from.
  13. Great shots, buddy. I didn't go down there till nearly three years had passed. I won't go down there unless I have to. Everybody out there on the road or behind a desk tomorrow, stay safe.
  14. I can vouch for that. I've met Vinnie on a couple of occasions at his shop and he was the nicest guy you could ever meet. Very appreciative of the fans. I actually stopped watching the show when he left OCC. I wach occasionally now, and it's pretty sad when money and other dysfunction ruin a family.
  15. That's not going to help. So, what you're saying is that if I want to take my girlfriends' son over for a ride on the Dragon Coaster, I should not be allowed entry because I live in the Five Boroughs?? Ya know, Cap, we've been talking on this board for a number of years and this is a ridiculous statement. You got that "element" as you put it, in many of the towns and cities in Westchester County. People got stupid, acted up, and 4 Rangers got hurt. Here's a thought, and someone please chime in with opinions. Would it be feasible for specific local PD's from throughout the county to say, detail a cop or two over to Playland during the hours of operation?? Pair them up with the rangers on duty to keep a presence in the park so people think twice before acting the fool??
  16. Funny enough, it's all Giuliani is, a one trick pony. That's all he gets by on. I've never gone on any trips for free, gotten more than a couple of gifts of a shirt or hat here and there, and a DVD of the two documentaries I filmed. It makes me sad to see all these people doing stuff like this and bringing home a paycheck for it.
  17. My brother has one of 16 Engine doing that to a car in Midtown a number of years ago.
  18. What' happens to the present 21-6-1(Ex 2-3)??
  19. Nice shots..
  20. I can probably sum it up. They were spending more than they were taking in, the prices couldn't be justified by the lack of desire from the collectors, except the really hardcore ones. Bankruptcy was waiting in the wings, so better to cut losses before it went to complete poop.
  21. As a long time collector, up until 2008, and longtime member of a number of boards surrounding the hobby, I can't say I'm surprised. Like Mr. Pinto said, after a number of people left in 2007, and one in particular before that, the product quality really went to poop. Prices went up, quality went down. Now, I wonder who is going to pick up the ball, if anyone??
  22. I haven't done one of these in a while. I have been doing some trips, but my time in between has been very busy, so I haven't had the time to post anything. Get ready, here it comes. 4 and half months, to be exact of everybody's favortie Fire Dispatchers journeys!!! First stop, Nashville. Engine and Truck 28, second due to the Opry, and Cooters Dukes of Hazzard museum!!! Followed up with Engine 9 and Tower 2 from Downtown. Next stop, the suburbs and Wilson County Emergency Services Station 31. Here's Engine, Tanker, and Brush 31. The camera lay dormant for a little while. I had given the Lake Carmel Explorer Post, my fire service alma mater, a little tour around the city. After we got done, I was standing in the Bronx Dispatchers Office when an all hands was transmitted for Echo Place and the Grand Concourse. Here's some shots I took from there. Ladder 59 and Engine 42. I had heard the new fireboat Bravest was in town, and ran down to the dock to get some shots of that. These are kinda ehh by my standards, but I got better ones coming. More coming..
