  1. Aside from WCMC, and maybe St Lukes??(Memory) on the other side of the river, are there any other Level 1 Trauma Centers in the area?? The reason I ask this, is because over the past few years I've been a member here, I've regularly seen IA's and IW's about patients transported to WCMC via Stat Flight or NYSP. Not to knock either, but I think many would be better served by having PHC, NWHC, HVHC, and one of the Dutchess hospitals as a Level 1 TC. That's a lot of area to cover and with an ever growing population, are you really getting your tax dollars worth?? Discuss.
  2. It's this weekend. I'm going up tomorrow. You can usually find some good stuff up there.
  3. Yup, that would be it. Passed one going the other way on 52. Along with one of the chiefs out of Company 4. I believe it was 39-6.
  4. Well, I have returned. And I must say I left a little disappointed. The only thing I got out of it was a couple of Godzilla movies. I actually spent more money in Wal Mart in Fishkill than I did at the flea market. And of course, I got me some pickles. Although I didn't go for the spicy ones. I'm more of a half sour guy myself. PS Dadbo, Unfortunately, I didn't get to see numbah 1 son. But I did run into a couple of LCFD guys and one or two people from Carmel High. PS, I did see one of East Fishkills buses, very nice.
  5. Just out of curiosity 484, and I am presuming you are a member of EFFD, why not put a bus at Station 2 and standby there when the market is going on?? The traffic isn't that bad.
  6. I read the proposal on this. It's been on the drawing board for a number of years. This goes back at least a year or so prior to Sept. 11th. It was originally called a 10-65. The original, if I remember right wasn't as much as this in the way of special units. Although we didn't have as many at the time. I think it was another alarm, Rescue, RCollapse, SOC Support truck, Squad, Safety, SOC Battalion, and a CFR-D Engine. Let's just hope we don't have to use this signal, EVER!!!!!
  7. I joined the fire service because it appealed to me, and public service is the family biz. My father was a cop, my grandfather(paternal) was a corrections officer. My grandfather(maternal), and a few of my uncles worked for the City Transit Authority. I have a few other relatives that are in the Emergency Services. I joined the Coast Guard in 1992 and saw it from three of the many big missions. Maritime Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, and Aids to Navigation. I got into dispatching through my experiences in buffing and my military service. I did the volunteer thing and near the end, I started to get sour on a lot of the things I saw, or heard. (Read: POLITICS!!!!!!) Then my mom moved, and I left it behind. I was a member of a VAC here in the city and saw the crap I saw up there, and it was like I never left Putnam. Nowadays, I'm reaching a point where it's almost all about the money. I'm in a position where I really am not happy with what I see when I walk in the door. My love for the job has been beaten up pretty good. This was even before my experiences on Sept. 11th. Maybe someday I will get myself in a position where I will be having more fun.
  8. Explain to the superior, politely, that you will not be following that order. Then explain the reasons why you feel the action taken would be unsafe. I know time is of the essence in some situations, so make it quick.
  9. If you go out to the Island, the numbering system is Battalion based. I'm not quite sure how they do it. I liked the way Putnam and Dutchess did it. If you knew the numbers, you knew who you were getting.
  10. It's in the car, but there really hasn't been anything noteworthy to shoot lately. Besides, personal things have kept me from doing my out and abouts lately. PS, I'm not that good of a photographer.
  11. First glance, it looks like an HME.
  12. Oh, fear not my friend...I will return.
  13. I was surprised that there wasn't a stop for the stadium. Or at least not a real stop.
  14. Welcome back and best wishes from the Rock n Roll Supervisor.
  15. What rig did this replace?? I kinda forgot. Looking forward to coming up and shooting it.
  16. Nice looking rigs. Hope it was a good time for everyone.
  17. The WTF I believe is one of those new Pierce Chassis. I think it's the Impel. My cousin does some work for the USSS and I think he had something to do with spec'ing out that rig, and another on they picked up. Chicago, as far as I know, has not abandoned the Port/Starboard thing. I'm planning a trip out there in the next couple of weeks, so I should have some out and about shots.
  18. They were disbanded. However, some of the upper echelon types are still working and driving around in FP vehicles. They no longer respond to anything.
  19. Manhattan Box 1823!!! I'll keep you guys in suspense till my book comes out.
  20. This may have been asked recently, but I'll ask again. I was leaving the 10-13 party in WP last weekend, when I saw what looked to be a Pierce rig in WPFD's house near the Turtle. It was parked in the back, and it looked like a Rescue. Can anyone tell me what it is??
  21. BRING BACK THE MACKS!!!!! For as old as some of the CF TL's are in the spare pool, they're still doing the job at the ripe old age of 20, or more, in some cases. Just an opinion.
  22. If you put Volunteer Ambulance Corps on the side of the bus, I think people get the point.
  23. This guy apparently doesn't follow the philosphy, the faster you go, the thinner the bus gets. Sorry, inside joke.
  24. Nice to have you back, bro. Nice shots as always.
