  1. 17-5-1 was purchased in 1987, just before I joined LCFD as an explorer. It stayed with LCFD until early 1992, just after I enlisted. It went to Wall, PA, and last I heard via fdny trucks.com, it's down in Texas somewhere.
  2. No it wasn't a silly idea. But like I said earlier, if you don't have a team available to you, it may not hurt to see if there is one on here and PM them.
  3. I'm gonna go with calhobs on this one. You don't really want to air out stuff like that on this site. I do believe we need CISD teams. For anyone who needs one, the phone numbers are out there. Or if you want to use this site, find someone on here who is a CISD counselor, and PM them.
  4. I've seen a few complaints on here, and a few solutions. Why not this?? Every 2-3 years after a person turns, we'll say 65, they are to be given a road test. The same road test a kid has to pass to be licensed to drive. They fail, they have to wait x amount of months to re-apply and retake the test. Fail it three times, driving privileges taken away permanently. I know it's a b**** for an older person to feel like they are losing their independence, but at the same time that person has to realize when it is time to turn over the keys, permanently.
  5. That Nicholson rig is a refurbed engine. Looks like the CAFS cell, larger tank and higher capacity pump, and second rear axle were added in the refurb.
  6. Engine 99 and Ladder 62 are fictional unit numbers. Although in the early episodes, Jack Mc Gee used Battalion 15, which does exist. They were filming up there the other day. What for I don't know.
  7. This is going to hurt the other vollie departments in the city. Broad Channel has been trying to raise funds to build a new firehouse for a few years now. Aviation "protects" an area south of 96 Engine. IMHO the only reason they were left to exist is because it is a long haul for 96/54 to get down there. They aren't turned out by us, and most of the dealings I had with them in my tenure as a dispatcher in Da Bronx were less than pleasant. I have heard them on the old handi talkies drilling in the projects near their area, as if they're actually gonna go in there, or beat 96/54 into a box. Sorry, but these folks were shady after the 11th, and now they're being called on the carpet for it. I do have to agree with the question, why didn't they keep the Spartan and have the ALF refurbed again.
  8. FT-1, Quartered with E-238 in Brooklyn. 2,000 gallon tender.
  9. That was something I didn't know. Maybe the city could ask the brothers to the north in Yonkers how the Eagles are holding up for them. As far as Pierce is concerned, I don't know if the city would be willing to shell out the money even if Pierce wanted some action here.
  10. Nip nothing. I'd have the bottle of JD and a bottle of Pepsi in hand the minute I stepped on the gantry.
  11. Nice shots Duane. Keep em coming.
  12. Gotta admit, though, she's kinda cute. I guess it's something she's gonna have to get used to. It'll always help the property value since she lives right next to a firehouse. Oh, and PS to the Mahwah guys, nice move knuckleheads. To a point Mr. Diaz does bring up some good points in a lot of his reports. His tactics leave a lot to be desired. He pulled one of his reports a few years back when the Queens CO was being renovated and dispatchers were parking on the sidewalks. I'm getting old, I suppose, but I remember when he actually did real news stories on important issues. Oh, and Arnold, sometimes pagers aren't always enough.
  13. OK, since I'm probably killing Seth's bandwidth here, I'm gonna just put up a few more. Some that I had been looking forward to shooting, but not in a parade setting. Somers, TL-18. I'm gonna have to come up on an off day and get some better shots of this. 16-2-1 from Kent. Mount Kisco's TL-14. Union Vale, 67-12. Can someone explain to me the purpose of leaving the compartments open?? And in honor of my brothers recent birthday, CVAC 31-7-2. I've got about 20 or so more pictures, but the light was fading and the pictures weren't turning out so great. Enjoy!!!
  14. Germantown, CT Croton Falls Rescue 28 Ball Pond's trophy winning tanker. 18-2-3 18-5-1, I miss the old Oshkosh/LTI.
  15. Pawling 54-14 54-63 Cold Spring Chief. I'm starting to dig this whole pickup truck chiefs vehicle.
  16. 11-4-2 11-8-1 11-6-1 Lynbroook, Long Island, not too far from my neck of the woods. Put Valley, 24-4-2
  17. When did Brewster get a police force??? Or for that matter, when did PCSO need motorcycles?? OK Here we go.
  18. Patience Folks, I'm cropping pix right now. I should have them ready in a little while.
  19. Pictures will be up tomorrow night. I got about 30 rigs total, woulda had a few more if some people didn't wander into my shots, or the rigs were moving a little too fast. Thank you to ff274 and Mrs. ff274 for the cold refreshment even though half of it ended up on my sneakers. Maybe it's me, and maybe it's because I haven't been to one of these things since I left Lake Carmel in 1998. I was amazed at how few members I saw marching. I can understand smaller departments having fewer people, but I can remember in my Explorer days, and even the last few years I was in Lake Carmel, there were departments that fielded nearly 30 plus for EVERY Parade. Sign of the times, I suppose.
  20. It's pretty bad when there aren't enough spare tower ladders(Late 80's early 90's Macks and Mid 90's Seagraves) to keep up with the number of them breaking down. Up until Saturday night(my last tour) TL-44 was driving a rearmount, TL-51 was driving a RM and then got a spare TL(75 footer) and TL-58 was driving a TL-spare. Last week, TL-107 was also driving a rear mount spare. The job I buffed Sunday, 64 Engine had a spare(regular rig can't be more than 2 years old) Squad 61 was also driving a spare. I believe it might have been another reserve Squad. So I think that sums it up for ya Seth. PS BRING BACK THE MACKS!!!!!! Or, see if ALF can make a modernized Century, or an Eagle that doesn't take out apparatus doors at older firehouses.
  21. I'll stick with the waterbugs since I don't like cats, and we aren't allowed to own a dog. Although if I see a waterbug, it will die long before I do.
  22. I've seen the blue reflector bumps out in LA.
  23. I'll bet if they checked some of those sites like adult friend finder, or Craigs list, they could probably find more. Just another little tool for corruption of the innocent.
