  1. I'm home. I'll see what pictures I could salvage before the light faded.
  2. Sheridan Avenue and McClellan Street around 0115 hours.
  3. There are two boats being built right now by the same company that built LA City's FB 2
  4. There's an officer, a pilot, two engineers, and what are known as wipers. I'm not sure what the total staffing is. If they need manpower, they are augmented as follows. Marine 1:E-24 or E-10 Marine 6:E-210 Marine 9:E-152 Also the Firefighter is a historic boat. It's probably going to be preserved in one way or another after it is retired from service.
  5. Nice guy. Wonder what'll happen when someone tries to swipe his green beans in lockup.
  6. I have absolutely no idea what this rig is for. Same goes for the Incident Management Team vehicle over at E-262.
  7. 550 East 180 was the address used.
  8. There was enough fire to go around for every one. When it came to relocations, we had quite a few interesting moves. Ladder 16 to 27, Ladder 143 to 54 and then up to 38 when Ladder 13 got the flat fixed. Engine 74 to 42, Engine 5 to 92, and they caught a first due job a few hours later. Always nice to see two tillers up here. Engine 21 to 71, Engine 229 from Brooklyn up to Engine 83. Engine 307 to 81. A job like this makes you think and anticipate what's gonna happen next. We must have gotten about 35-40 calls just for smoke in the area. One call that sticks in my head that someone took..... Lady calls, and says there's a fire on 180 and Monterey. The Dispatcher tells her the firefighters are there and they're putting it out. She says, "It's not enough!!!!" This was when the job was at a 3rd. Well, she was right. I checked the fire building(s) out on my way home this morning. Looks like it was cooking for a while before it broke out, 3 stores gone.
  9. Why yes I did.
  10. 27-30 History was always my favorite subject.
  11. I'm going to Lake Carmels to take pictures. That should be reason enough to go!!! BWAHAHAHAAH!!!!
  12. If memory serves me right, the residency requirement for EMS was tossed a few years back due to it being classified as hard to fill. As far as the Chief of EMS is concerned, he, along with a lot of other people probably got grandfathered in from his hire date.
  13. Anybody got info on this?? I want to come up for a little out and about.
  14. I remember a time when half of Carmels rigs didn't suffer from Lime Disease(credit to ejs).
  15. What's gonna be the disposition of 2-2 and 3-3???
  16. Looks like you guys had a great time. I think somewhere out there, Chewky is proud. Nice job Erin, ya dun good kiddo.
  17. Thanx for the info. See you guys there.
  18. Definitely better than the shots I took last year.
  19. Tell me about it. I got my stones broken for about a month after I got on. I had already done all my change of address paperwork, and they still gave me a hard time. So much so, I had to go down to Livingston Street to drop off more paperwork.
  20. The residency requirement for dispatchers pretty much got dropped a few years ago. I don't remember the particulars as to why. I've lived in the city the entire time I've been on the job. From the Bronx, to Queens, and now back to the Bronx. I honestly find it more convenient for me. We have guys coming in from the Island, Upstate, PA, Jersey. Unfortunately, I can't really take mass transit because it's not as convenient as driving. But, I can't complain, 15 minutes door to door. Saving on gas and tolls. Not sure if I really want to head back upstate or out to the Island. PS, there are ways around the residency requirement, as everyone knows. If I had done that in 1997 instead of moving in, I'd probably own a home right now.
  21. God Bless and all the best.
  22. I'm kinda surprised it was unloaded after doing less than 20 years. Not something you see every day.
  23. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see anything in this article either, that would be construed as fingerpointing. Just the comments left by readers. However, that accident is DEFINITELY in Yonkers.
  24. I can look into the Catalina Island thing. I got some friends in LA County. LA County used to get stepped on by I think Brooklyn or the Bronx at one time. When I was a member of Lake Carmel, we used to hear Paterson, NJ, and they could hear us. I remember us getting a card from them for our 50th Anniversary or the holidays.
  25. Awful angry. It describes a lot of people. Even some people you may know!!!! The ones that give harmless buffs who take pictures or have an interest in certain aspects a bad name. I took the test and actually scored 1 1/2. It does seem this guy has a legitamite gripe with those who take the buffiness, or "interest" to a level that even the casual buffs seem to find disturbing.
