If you read the article, this isn't the first time he's gotten in trouble for being "racially insensitive". Honestly, he's lucky he hasn't gotten dragged into an EEO hearing, and even luckier to still have a job. Unfortunately, you can't expect people to lighten up. I'm not going to get into this whole higher standard stuff, I've blabbed about that till I'm blue in the face, but I've learned in my career, especially now as a supervisor, treat every interaction with someone as a potential EEO case. It's really unfortunate that I have to change my personality out of fear of getting jammed up, but, you never know who's looking to stick it to you. The way I talk to people I have been friends with, as opposed to those I'm not, it's incredibly different. I can drop the frequent F-bomb when I am dealing with certain people.

I got a feeling it's gonna be FDNY. Just a hunch.

Let's see how long before they start asking for 39 Truck, 51 Truck, and 32 Truck for mutual aid.

There are actually more than that. Richmond and Oceanic(SI, and the only ones we dispatch) West Hamilton Beach, Broad Channel, Roxbury, Point Breeze, Rockaway Point(Queens) Gerritsen Beach(Brooklyn) Edgewater Park (Bronx) I didn't include Aviation, because I am not sure they are still existing, nor do I count this so called Bronx Fire Patrol 4, because I'm not quite sure they are even legit.

He was in probie school. The 5-5-5-5 came down last night and stated he was assigned to the Bureau of Training.

I would really have to look at the Atlanta dispatch protocols before I could make a judgement on this one.

Is it safe to presume Water Ops means communications between tankers, source pumpers and the IC or Water Resource Officer??
-
Amen to that. Put the bs politics aside, and let's get the job done.

I think you're missing my point. It's not the issue of the members training or the rig being worked on for preventive maintenance. It's the fact that a fire company is closed for the duration of the day tour. Nobody is brought in on OT or straight time to man the rig, if it's even there. There isn't an outcry from the public there. That should be just as, if not more important than 5 Engines being shut down at night. Granted, statisitcally fatal fires occur at night, but I've seen a few instances where fatal fires have occured during the day, two of which occured when the first due ladder company was out of service for training. One last parting shot for the evening, I strongly doubt Engines 22,44,or 39 will be shut down on the night tours. (Those are three of the four Engines on the first alarm assignment to Mayor Bloombergs home)

What makes it worse is there is an uproar about it, but nobody says anything that 15-20 fire COMPANIES are closed on a daily basis, CITYWIDE. 12 were closed today, including Battalions, for various training that lasts all day. Another 13 units were closed for a part of the day for training. Another 8 are out of service right now for training. 25 units out of service for either all, or a part of the day tour. Silence. This is just as dangerous as shutting anyone down on a night tour. You guys are right, all they care about is the response times, hence no single engines will be shut down. And they also know how stupid the general public is by saying the service will not be affected. We all know better. My own personal opinion, a gamble is being taken by the current mayoral and FD administration. We're going to have to work with less. It's going to blow up in their faces the minute a civilian or God forbid a FF buys it. Although I don't like it, and I don't want to see any house get shut down overnight, it's better than losing the house permanently.

Nice job, Craig. Good guy. Retired out of 32 Truck about a year ago. He worked light duty security in my office while it was being renovated. Gee, chief, I wonder why it hit so close

Now that would be a sight to see after putting out a rip roaring blaze. Nice little recuperation and canteen unit.

This almost looks like a painting. Incredible shot.

I've done a couple of silly ones. I did Luke Skywalker twice when I was a kid. I also did the boxer from the video game, Punch Out!! Green hair and all. That went well at the Boy Scout party when there was green glitter in the bucket for apple bobbing. Had my head shaved once, so painted my face like a baseball, and threw on my Cyclones jersey. I have to say my parents were hysterical at it. Bags of jelly beans, angel and devil, I guess it was their big holiday.

Shovels and Shop-Vacs. Nope, don't envy those folks one bit.
-
EDP mother maybe?? I often wonder why more parents just don't give up a kid for adoption if they know they can't take care of them. Especially before something like this happens.
-
I dunno what's worse, the unbelievable irresponsibiliy of the parent, the firearms instructor, or the fact that an 8 year old kid was handling a weapon that, correct me if I'm wrong here my cop pals, is illegal. Maybe I'm just getting a little softer in my advancing age, but I think the guilt and grief these folks are going through is worse than any prison sentence. Side note, handled my first weapon at age 11 at Camp Siwanoy, never touched a firearm again until I was in the military.

Now that there is one of the only things I miss about Carmel, the scenery.

I was out in White Plains earlier this evening, and noticed an old rear mount marked as L-33. I'm going to take a stab and say it's late 80's/early 90's vintage, Duplex/LTI. Is this a frontline truck or a spare??

That was it Seth, thanx.

Thank you kindly..
