  1. Take a mark, tap out if necessary, CYA!!!!!
  2. It is an interesting precedent, definitely. I have to admit, that if I was put in that position, I'd do the same thing. Yes, there are other ways to look out for your brethren, but if this keeps someone from losing their job, I'm all for it. Nice work YFD.
  3. OK, wait a second here guys. Let's look at this from a big picture point of view. Put aside your feelings towards the President-Elect. This is a historic event. DC is going to be jammed with hundreds of thousands more people than would normally come out for an inaugurational. The story itself explains why they are doing it. It's not a true emergency, but DC may not be able to pay the total tab. I have to say, W did the right thing here. It's probably gonna cost a heck of a lot more than the $15 mil already appropriated. IMHO it's a legitimate request that got sensationalized by the press, who never liked W to begin with.
  4. Personal opinion. The safety of the people operating at the incident takes priority over moving traffic along. Close the road until it is safe to move traffic through.
  5. AMEN!!!! I had to laugh when I heard about that. I am honestly surprised some of these shipping companies haven't shelled out a few bucks for some M-60's or 50 Cal Machine guns to handle the problem.
  6. I think it's just a case of reading way too far into it. But then again, we are our own worst critics.
  7. I can't hear you, sound off like you got a pair!!!! That would make it through the filter. YOU WILL NOT LAUGH, YOU WILL NOT CRY, YOU WILL LEARN BY THE NUMBERS I WILL TEACH YOU!!!! Your hearts may belong to Jesus, but your @$$es belong to the Corps!!!! Somebody pick me up a couple of double jalapeno cheeseburgers from White Castle and a sack of onion rings!!!
  8. Now that this is out, I wonder if any heads are going to roll from FDNY Brass...
  9. Just some constructive criticism, try to be a little more steady with your hands when taking the pictures. Secondly, see if they'll pull them out for you, so those viewing can see the whole rig. That stump jumper looks like it's seen some action.
  10. Not that I care for socialism, or any ism for that matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there, after all, he was the Walrus. I could be the Walrus, I'd still have to bum rides off people. And my orders are to weed out all non hackers who do not pack the sufficient gear in my beloved Corps!!!! She turned me into a newt!!! A newt??? I got better... The ring is bupkis!! I got it from a Cracker Jack Box!!!! A Druish Princess?? Funny, she doesn't look Druish!!!
  11. Followed soon after by...."Mother of God...." Who could forget, "It's Afghanistanimation!!!!" Or, "You know what the speed limit is around meow??" And my two personal faves, "Shut up, Farva" "I want a liter of Cola!!!" Wasn't Stryker stationed in DramBui??
  12. What's our vector, Victor?? How do you take your coffee?? Like my men, Black.
  13. I've gotten inked all over the place, meaning locations. Mac Kenzies in Carmel, Slingin Ink in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Dave's in Philly. Itching for a couple more, so this gives me some ideas.
  14. Because Seth is a truck afficianado. He seems to like the big toys, especially ones that can be of assistance to the local Emergency Services folks. Think of it as a very big toy in the toybox of equipment that the Hudson Valley people can call upon if needed. And finally, and most obvious, it's his site.
  15. Did a day tour yesterday, doing a day tour today and then some. Came in a little early so my relief can go home to her 3 yr old daughter. Just another day in the office for me, holiday pay or not. All the best from 126,136,175,220,226,242,244,703 and the Rock n Roll Supervisor.
  16. Note to bigfire1 Think before you type..
  17. Not silly at all George. FDNY protocols state an Engine and Ladder are to be assigned to any reported car fire on the street. The most important reason is for the ladder to block traffic to keep the members safe. Prior to a firefighter being struck by a car and killed in Queens a number of years ago, it was only a single Engine response.
  18. I would say just the location of the vehicle, along with the terrain added to the length of time. I'd like to see the other side of the vehicle to see how they did it. Nice going 11-6-1...
  19. As per the NY Daily News, Bostic found Guilty of all charges.
  20. I've always been a fan of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, K??? Or, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over, as preferred by the military types..
  21. It's all about what's gonna sell, and if the Apparatus manufacturers have an interest in allowing it. Collectors have been clamoring for LA County KME's for years. That won't happen anytime soon. And I remember that ALF, I wouldn't mind seeing it either. First Yonkers rig I ever saw.
  22. There is a bright side to this...He's still going away for a long time. Plus, the other two mutts he was with may not be so lucky.
