It's yellow, it can reach high places, I can see the comparisons.

Night tours will do that to a guy. I still think the whole situation stinks.

It was lime green, with a giraffe painted on the side near the turn table. It had a Smith and Wesson lightbar on the roof and was still open cabbed. The aerial was white with CARMEL FIRE DEPT. painted on the side of it. It had 12-5-1 in big gold numbers under the Oren name plate, above the CARMEL NEW YORK decals, and on the rear side compartments. Those were added in maybe 1987 or 88. The 4 on the doors was replaced with the Carmel FD logo. It was refurbed in 1985/86, to how it looked when it was sold to Cold Spring. The picture you have there is obviously how it looked pre-refurb. The red flashing lights were replaced with a twin red/yellow flashers. I don't have any pictures of it, I'm doing this from memory. I would suggest maybe you call someone from Carmel FD, or call the firehouse and ask.

Like Brian said, ANI ALI can be advantageous, and at times better than nothing. Spin brings up a good point. I thought about that today as I was driving home, and heard the tape of the call. The lady can clearly be heard saying 419 Montauk Highway, and the town she's in. I wonder if the CAD that is being used on the Island has that feature, where it pops up multiple choices. We have that here for a number of spots, Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, or in Breezy Point, West 9th Street in Red Hook, or Coney Island. There's a Broadway in each borough, so we ask as part of our interrogation, "what borough are you in?" before we even take an address. The news also reported the wife screamed "You killed my husband!!!" My heart truly goes out to that dispatcher.

This is truly unfortunate, and not at all uncommon. ANI ALI is a big help. I just hope the dispatcher will be able to live with himself after this.

At least it's not those guys toodling around the Bronx, claiming to be a Fire Patrol.

I looked at this site last night. I'm going to give it a wait and see approach. I wonder if any of my Patrolio buddies are going to give it a nother shot when it's back up and running.

I wish. I remember seeing it on NBC 4. But I doubt they have it. I spoke too soon.

Ehhh, If it had been something like one of the casinos in Vegas, or an old ball park, I'd be bummed out. I think they're hamming it up just a little. Personal note, nothing was cooler than watching the old Greenpoint tanks go down 9 yrs ago.

Engine Companies in St. Louis have 75 foot Quints, the Truck Companies are 105 foot Quints. There was talk it was going to change to one Quint per battalion(that was 2 years ago, when I was last out there). The way it was explained to me is on a Box alarm, it was something like 3 Engines, a Truck, and a Chief. If you were the second due Engine and you were closer than the Truck, you'd be operating as the first due Truck.

They still do.

Here's Enfield's Tele-Squrt and Philly Squrt 57

Philadelphia still has a few Squrts floating around. Articulating booms.

Let it burn, go defensive, bring snacks, and remember how to get back to quarters afterwards.

Howdy, Y'all. I got two helmets, one an old MSA LA County style helmet from the 1970's, and a Cairns Metro. Both are pretty beat up. I'm looking to find someone who can spruce them up/restore them to a condition where I can display them. If anyone knows anyone, or you can do it, please contact me via pm, or on here. Thanx in Advance, Jimmy

I think any video should be run past the chief of department before posting anywhere. Let the chief have the final say on what they deem appropriate to show to the public.

This is ridiculous. It's not an endorsement of Christianity. If these guys were Jews, there would be a star of David. This is just another frivolous lawsuit by another special interest group trying to force an opinion on others. Words can't describe what I want to say. I guess the compromise is going to be one of those big green signs with the name of the deceased trooper. People are dumb. Ruining everything because oh, someone might get offended. Thicker skin.

Best of luck with it, I'd like to come up and get some pix of it.

Great shots. I smelled this on the Saw Mill as I was heading back to the Chateau last night. Called the Bronx to see if they had anything, then called Yonkers and they were like, yup. We got it.

My bad, I knew they were Agustas. Thanx DK!!!

If I remember right, the Coast Guard used a few of them as well for interdiction and SAR. However, they don't show any as being in the inventory right now.

I forget the name of the street, but the PC tin house was a couple of blocks past the Willett House, just before Pathmark, if I remember right.

...to the member(s) of this board who made it through the first phase of training to be an FDNY Fire Alarm Dispatcher. I recognized one of your names when I looked at the assignments last week. I'm back to work next week. Don't worry, you'll know who I am the minute you walk in the door.

So who's gonna be the straw that stirs the drink??
