  1. Putnam Valley 2nd Best under 25
  2. I may be a little out of touch but--the article keeps referring to Spartan. If I am correct, Spartan Motors makes chassis not fire trucks? Maybe in the past they did? As far as I know now--Spartan delivers the cab/chassis to the manufacturer that orders it (to their spec. Cab's are made for Spartan by Marion. The apparatus manufacturer installs the tank, body and pump. Did Spartan make trucks before? Is this the same company? If all is the same as today, then maybe they should be looking at the builder? We had a Ford Tanker built by Amthor's. We had issues with the truck--NOT FORD"S PROBLEM, simply a poorly engineered fire body and such. Just an opinion, not taking any sides or picking on any manufacturer. None the less it is still a tragedy.
  3. I was thinking about this while in the hospital this week with my wife and newborn son. We have alot of different chats and forums going on here. We need to start a Future Firefighter forum where all us proud parents can boast about our new additions. I do have to say, this is my first child--Never have I encountered a more amazing thing than child birth. And my wife--I cannot express how proud I am of her-- morning sickness till the last day, 15 hours of labor and then the C-section and never once complained. (screaming doesn't count). Finally at 1927 hours on Tuesday July 29th Adam John Savino II (A.J.) was brought into this world weighing a whopping 10 lbs and measuring 22 inches. He was almost a week late, and we were expecting to be around 9 or so--he fooled us !!! I think he waited purposely. PVVFD has something--a work detail, drill, meeting every Tuesday--most often beginning at 1930 hours. He didn't want to be late for his first drill LOL Okay--I am done gloating now!!!
  4. Well A.J. is just over a week old and it just keeps getting better. I seem to have the calming effect so apparently that is the green light to dirty the diaper!!! Moose--your daughter is beautiful--GOOD LUCK--I watched my niece and nephew go through that -- driving their parents insane. It is so well worth it. 1094--Best of luck to you. You are probably showing fairly well by now, the heat must be killing you!!! If you are going to et the epidural--make sure they get it right. Don't settle for close or almost!!! Gerry--What can we say--under roundhead you serve!!! I hope A.J. lets me be as much of an influence in his life. And to the rest of my family here. Thank you all so much for your kind words, messages, and encouragement. I am including the link to the thread started by Seth as well. I can't figure out how to combine the 2 posts!!! Thank You all http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopi...mp;#entry145142

  6. This pic was taken about 30 minutes after birth--right after the weigh in!!! Yes he is a big boy!!! Claudia and I (A.J. too) would like to thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes. This is simply the most amazing experience. I tried to get some bunker gear for him but turns out I have to wait a while!! Apparently there is some child labor law or something. LOL Thank you all again And John--we just might have to do that sometime in the near future!!!

  8. As the famous saying goes (here anyway) QTIP. If you feel this was aimed at you maybe you have a guilty conscience. There are a lot of members here that span a vast range in age as well as experience. Every dept operates differently in some fashion whether is be the fire-ground or business end. Read Seth's post carefully. He was not trying to bash or discourage anyone. We have all heard at one time or another "Think before you speak". I think this is more where he is leading. Please almighty administrators correct me if I am wrong.
  9. I am not taking any sides here--just one or two thoughts to ponder-- Outfitting a POV with proper/adaquate lights, siren, radio, antenna--would you wnat to be forced to do that to your car or truck? I would like the choice not be forced. All the meetings and alike--(there are alot believe me) alot of added wear and tear , milage etc to your POV--above and beyond calls. What about the insurance aspect of running red lights and siren on your POV? So--yes it may seem like a perk--but more a requirement. Just my humble opinion
  10. Over priced and over rated. I would definately not go out of my way for Starbucks. Actually it is a last resort. I will take Dunkin Donuts hands down if I had to chooose side by side. For the norm--W.B. Law and Green Mountain work just fine. Add a little French Vanilla creamer and I am good to go. Starbucks seem to do better on the more "upscale" areas. As for Barnes and Noble--I would rather have something other that Starbucks there. But we all have our own opinion on our coffe. The company does have way too many locations in some areas though.
  11. Putnam Valley Best Non Reg Best Color Guard
  12. I think this would fall under the okay to post section as it did occur in a firehouse--am I correct or do I need to be corrected?
  13. I cannot remember many of the trophy winners . I do recall Mahopac Falls taking a ladies aux trophy, and a Marine corp winning Non Firematic color guard I believe, Patterson took a marching trophy for under 20. Putnam Valley VAC took Best Ambulance. As for the categories--They were not broken down by uniform class. Usually not in Mahopac. It was 1st and second best by number in line--under 20, 21-40 and 40 plus I believe. It was an awesome evening for a parade. Although we took home nothing, we felt good, looked good and had a great time. Maybe next year?!?
  14. Happy Anniversary Best wishes as you celebrate your first anniversary!!!
  15. 911 dispatched Putnam Valley Fire M/A but we were cancelled shortly after the dispatch-
  16. I definately agree with you there Seth. There are alot of things I keep to myself in regards to conventions, perks, use of taxpayer funds etc... I can safely say--without getting into detail and upsetting anyone--PRIORITIES -- at times -- for some -- are not what they should be.
  17. How can you tell it is not LED. Not all LED's have clear outer lenses--I didn't really inspect it--maybe I missed something.
  18. As a good friend of mine from the Big O says, Its all about having fun ABSOLUTELY!!!!
  19. We all have our own opinions on parades. Are they the most important thing--ABSOLUTELY NOT. For some--it is a time for camaraderie, fun, and a little competition among friends. For those who take it too seriously--then that is a totally separate issue. I am not for or against the trophy deal. It would be fine just knowing that you won--although--some of the awards are pretty damn nice. Maybe saving the money from trophies and donating it to a good cause would be better. Who knows. It does keep the apparatus clean though--LOL Ed--I had a feeling that is what it was. And well--your crew is much more experienced in parading (and winning) Too bad about the "other" issue from yesterday. WE did ALL cross the finish line-LOL
  20. Yes interasting thing about the trophies. We did get Best Tanker and Chief's vehicle but the 2nd Best Non-Reg is still a topic of conversation. We are not at all complaining but--we have no jackets--we are Non Reg--no question about it. Just curious how Mahopac--who wears Jackets took Best Non Reg. Like I said--just a conversation piece--not complaining. I could be wrong--and am going to probably answer my own question here BUT--maybe Regulation is Jackets and Pants with a stripe -- No stripe on the pants is Dress (which there was no catagory for in this parade)--therefore placing them in the non reg catagory?
  21. I was driving down Broad St this morning and only to discover the road was closed between Park St. and Lincoln Terrace. Not being able to just pass by, I stopped to investigate and was informed that the horses will be appearing in some type of Parade this evening around 1800 down by the Paramount. They had the road closed so the horses could be unloaded from their trailers and being kept at the old wire plant next to Peekskill Electric Motor. Anyone know what this parade is for?
  22. D. Bertoiline & Sons
  23. That just might be it!! Too bad they can't stick around for the Montrose Parade on Saturday. The Budweiser staff members were really nice. Actually got to walk through the garage where they are keeping them for the day. They are such incredible animals.
  24. Who needs Rachael Ray when there is Giada DeLaurentis?
  25. Taken from the Pierce website--hope this does not violate too many rules here-- PUC | Pumpers Today’s fire departments told us what they want in a first response vehicle. A vehicle that dramatically reduces operational steps. Make it safer to use and operate. Provide easy access for easier servicing. Allow for better organization with more compartment space. Design greater conveniences to work faster, and all in a rig that’s still highly maneuverable. Plus, eliminate the pumphouse so the truck can be built around your needs and not the pump. To accomplish all that – well, no one could accomplish all of that. Until now. No more compromises. PUC — the Pierce Ultimate Configuration — changes everything.
