They claim to have fixed the reception problem as well as address some other issues from the 3/4 line. One thing I noticed that was really a good upgrade-If I read it right you can have the unit (if so programmed) scan both freq's in silent mode and trip for tones on either. That would help "dual" members that have different disp freq's (as long as they are in the same band) I would still rather have a 2 but since they are not made anymore--I would go with the 5

After seeing the costs of both--I have to agree--they are really pricy!!

The stored voice function can be programmed for a set amount or record time. The 3's and 4's can be set to reset a number of ways--one being automatic after a specified time frame and another is manual (like the 2's). There are I think 2 or 3 others. I don't like the squelch sound between the tones tripping them and the message and then again after the mesage is over(until the voice storage stop recording)

As of 1915 hours this date the rig has entered New York State. It was spotted in Rockland County en route to Ruscon for the finishing touches.

Very true--maybe shed some halogen and strobes and go L.E.D. as well. The key is to be on top of the manufacturer--I know from experiance--a little more money up front for LED saves a lot of nightmares(electrical wise) down the road. Oh yea--most upper level Maunfacturer's have 1 battery dedicated to the DDEC(for Detroit's) or similar "brain"
-
Don't know if this was mentioned--the enormous electrical load the "Real" Q uses-Alot of amps!!! Trucks being all electronic nowadays--just an item for thought--BUt the fact still remains--NOTHING beats the original--mechanical--Q2b

The 3's have stored voice as do the 4's--only in VHF High and UHF--are they adding it to low band? I have heard that the stored voice can be a nuisence though.

Long live the M II--like no other!!!

Ed you are 100% correct. There are some people that feel it is wrong to count on mutual aid(on the forums here). It is not my opinion-Sharing is the way to go-no doubt
-
I could be wrong--haven't researched this totally throughout Putnam and Westchester but--the most departments that don't have tankers have more than sufficent water systems for the bulk of the jobs they get. In the cases where things go bad they have mutual aid close by. Lets say Mohegan--they have Continental village, Putnam Valley, Mahopac Falls, and Yorktown close by. We call Mohegan for a ladder when we need it (no need for us to get one) they can call for a tanker> Resource sharing?? Peekskill has the same resources available as Mohegan--the Falls may be stretching it BUT remember back to December when Mahopac made it down to Peekskill. Now go south--Maybe some one in the tri village could get one to aid the area--Croton only has the one. Croton does have(normally) a Tanker--they have areas that they need it--as does Millwood. I say Booster tanks should be 750-1,000. You SHOULD be able to douse the fire with 1,000 gallons--at least put it out--if you need more for overhaul call mutual aid tanker. Kinda back and forth with my comments but I think you can see where I am going with this. Almost like the Tower craze in Westchester--does everyone need a tower ladder? No some should have a stick--mix it up--I know it is not right to "count on" mutual aid but really what is wrong with "sharing" resources??

Okay--you can agree or disagree with this one. Those of you who drive Route 6--almost anywhere(or 202)-but especially through Mohegan on weekends and at rush hour--a 10-15 minute ride from "The Village" can take a half hour. I am not condoning the Haul A$% transport--I believe is was Dadday that mentioned it earlier--lights--blip the siren occasionally. The patient may be stable but mot many patients likes riding in the back at all never mind for that long and may make other symptoms appear. This also keeps the rig tied up longer before being able to return to service.

I dunno--I think you covered it pretty well!!!

I couldn't pass up a 2 for 1!!! They were so close together!!!I actually stood on the back end of the Truck to photograph our rig!!!
-
God help us all!!! We SHOULD have the truck HERE within 2 weeks.
-
We have a few members that plow. We also use our "utility" (which is a Polaris Ranger 6x6) to assist at Station 2. We cannot equip our brush trucks with plows because they have front mounted winches. The highway crew helps out at Headquarters also. We do have a plans to equip a dept vehicle with a 8' plow in the future (so the members don't have to beat their own equipment)--hopefully this snow season is over and we will have it by next winter!!
-
Let us get it here first--baby steps--This truck has been a long time coming--a lot of planning--like around 2 years have gone into it. We are accepting bids for the 85 Pierce--maybe you could take it for a test drive LOL!!!

Not until at least a month or two after you are away from school so you have time to get you head back out of your--well you know--aside from that--we haven't gotten the booster seat ordered yet so you can see out the windshield!!! Gimme a call when u r back we can discuss it

I guess only time will tell now!!!

If ya check the spy shots on section--included in the Putnam Valley posting are a few pics of the rig--and the ladder which as of 4-1-05 were not yet joined.
-
As you can all see--the pics are posted--although not many of them but you get the idea. Also in the posting are various other pics from down there at the factory. Can you guess which Westchester county dept is getting that Mid Mount Ladder? THe other random photos include 2 tillers that are California bound (1 complete and one not, as well as Milton Truck 15-1. If you got questions--I can sure try and answer them.

Mohegan uses UHF Minitor IV's (still have some low band Minitior II's though). If you didn't know here is the deal. They have 2 repeaters. One is their "district wide" 453.650 I believe. The other is the link to low 453.275 which--at the current time is the primary disp freq so it does both the new pagers as well as the "old". The problem I believe is mainly with the UHF Minitor IV units not tripping. There also seems to be an issue at times with the VAC freq 462.200 clashing with the FD freq when they are both in use simultaniously. I could be wrong -- but am fairly confident this is what is going on
-
312/346 is the main and the new "added" tones are around the 1000/900 range I have heard before that the lower tones sometimes do not trip pagers as easily as the higher ones--matter of "hearing" the tones. Hope it fixes the problem--not just masks a coverage issue.
-
JOB SERCURITY!! They know we will break them!!! I would be satisfied if Motorola would make a Minitor pager in low band (high or UHF too) that worked HALFWAY decent. Where oh where have the MII's gone!!!

Hey doug--your chassis and body look pretty sharp--then again so does the platform and the ladder--when are they supposed to put it all together? No one down there wanted to answer me on our trip down today. That is some killer overhang in the rear though. Good luck with that rig. Our engine should be out of there(plant 7)next week.
