  1. Writing tickets is a revenue generator for your town???? I thought the reason tickets were issued was because someone didn't comply with the law. Just as the WPFD would issue a summons and posiblely shut down a bar for non-compliance. This too could "generate revenue" for White Plains, If that was the basis for the inspections. The basis is to prevent anymore Gulliver's or The Station Night Club (2003) in West Warwick Rhode Island from happening again. This would also have a positive effect on White Plain's bottom line. The money they would save from not being brought into wrongful death lawsuits.
  2. Remember the good old days of 1 radio and only 1 channel. The hardest part was to remember, 'push mic button, then talk, then release mic button' !!!!!!!
  3. That's what I'd like to know also. I had heard before the story broke, that Chief Everett was demoted!! Can anyone confirm this ?????
  4. One thing that I can't seem to find in all this. Did Chief Everett retire or was he told his services as chief were no longer needed ????? Nothing would suprise me !!!!
  5. I can see this unit being used for limit time events. Such as the old Danbury Fair, golf courses that have annual major tournaments etc. It would be used for on site treatment and movement of patients to the on site medical facility and not for transport to the hospital. When the event is over the pod can be stored until the next event and the pickup truck can be used for day to day operations. I can also see it being used at beaches and amusement parks. Again used for on site and limited time.
  6. It appears that the dealers in Texas like their sound more then New York dealers do. $ 3,000 vs. $ 1,800
  7. I have heard from city officials that it is not if, it's how many will have to be layed off. Unless the city can find moneis to pay the salaries and benefits, they will have to lay city workers off. NRFD was a 2 'fire' department not that long ago. They could handle 2 house fires at the same time. And that was with 6 engine companies and 3 truck companies . Now it's down to 5 and 3 with 3 times the number of runs. Now at the first sign of flames they have to start a call back and many times start in mutual aid. If they lose more position, NRFD will go down to a 3/4 'fire' department.
  8. Barry...just wondering...who has control of the ejection seat??? The officer or the firefighters ?????
  9. From an atricle in the Larchmont Gazette. http://www.larchmontgazette.com/?p=6095
  10. And he looks as tall as all the others.......
  11. As a citizen of the Queen City of the Sound, that statement of the firefighters not accepting pay for their job just shows how ignorant some of the posters here can be. You know NRFD is a career department. Has been for many years and will be for many more. The City of New Rochelle realized over 70 years ago that the Volunteers could not provide the services needed for the ever expanding city. Up until that point the voluteers did their best, but the demands of the growth of the city far out weighed the willingness of the volunteers to provide fire coverage. The city invested in manpower, training, apparatus and upgrading the water supply. The old above ground wooden water mains just were not doing the job. Nor were the cisterns (look that up in the dictionary). NRFD ran 7 engines and 3 ladders out of 7 stations back in the 60's and had a work load of less than 3,000 runs a year. Now they run 5 engines, 3 ladders and a rescue ( I believe it is manned most of the time) and running 7,500-8,000 calls a year out of 5 stations. All this and I pay about $650 a year towards my fire department and my home owners insurance is $ 1,100 for coverage on a house valued at 1 million. I think that's a bargin. I know of people who have homes of the same value covered by a volunteer department and pays 3 times that much for their home owners insurance. The bottom line is, if the volunteers can do the job....great....continue.....BUT when the service is not being provided, you have to take a LONG, HARD look at what the citizens are getting for their dollar vs. what they can get for a few dollars more. And when you factor ALL cost of providing fire service, fire tax and cost of insurance etc., you might not be making statements about puppet strings.
  12. So it's a 'BIG SATELLITE MANIFOLD'.......

  15. The old E & J pressure cycle resuscitator in the green case.
  16. I think there is more than one person on this site that has done similar things. I always wanted to know how the vehicle I was operating would handle in snow and ice. To find an open parking lot with no hazards was priceless. The problem is that this group made it public as a music video.
  17. Let me check the couch to see how much I can spend on your gift. Otherwise I'll have to re-gift.

  19. It's a push-me pull-me !!!!!
  20. New Rochelle was suppose to get a cell tower at city hall a year or two ago. This was then going to replace the aging radio tower that has fallen into disrepair. I don't know what the status of the cell tower is, Bnechis can shed more light on the status.
  21. In point #1, did they do the right thing or do you feel differently ??????
