  1. New update just released. http://vimeo.com/11673844
  2. Booster reel???? Do you have to water the hanging baskets in the business district????
  3. Thanks for the clarification. I heard the audio from post#7 (Geppetto) and I did not see a disclaimer. If the audio is complete, how was TRFD dispatched? Are they dispatched on another frequency????
  4. Again I will ask. Does anyone have the audio for the entire time from dispatch to on the scene. The Stamford Advocate's article states that the time of dispatch to the on scene time is 7 minutes. The audio tape is only 3 minutes long. What info is on the other 4 minutes. Could it have info that directed 712 to turn around all but the LRFD units? Could it have had info that confirmed the working structure fire before 712 returned the other companies? Or was the tape just edited of dead air? The Stamford Advocate's article reported that the alarm was called in by an alarm company, yet the first dispatch was for a chimney fire. How was this info about the chimney fire obtained? Did the alarm company call the location and speak to the resident and did the homeowner advise that there was a chimney fire or that the roof was on fire? Or did the fire dispatcher receive a second source call reporting the chimney fire? I think everyone here is making judgement on this fire without all the facts. I'm not saying that LRFD was right or wrong, I just don't think ALL the facts are on the table.
  5. I wasn't referring to NRFD R-4, I was referring to that old bucket of bolts YOU owned a few years back. The old West Haven rescue.
  6. If your rescue was up against Bnechis' rescue, you would win hands down.
  7. Maybe Mary Woods can help locate the missing 4 minutes of audio ?????
  8. Does someone have the entire audio of the dispatch to this fire. I can not totally understand what happen here because the audio tape is only about 3 minutes long. According to the Stamford Advocates article it took LRFD 7 minutes to have the 1st unit on the scene. "An alarm company reported the fire at 8:50 p.m. Monday. Three minutes later, the Long Ridge assistant chief canceled all responding units except for Long Ridge. At 8:57 p.m., the first Long Ridge unit arrived and reported the roof was on fire. That's when Turn of River units and city engines were called back to assist Long Ridge, arriving nearly 19 minutes after the first report." The audio does not have the TOR units being dispatched. The first indication of TOR is 6-7 'canceling the city truck'. What I would be interested to find out was there any other information that the dispatcher relayed to the responding units that we don't know about. Was the tape just edited to remove dead air, or was info edited also. The time of the units being cancelled by 712 is consistent in the article by the Stamford Advocate and the audio tape that they provided. Is this a true picture or one that was edited by the paper? Has anyone heard the entire 7+ minutes?
  9. That is sow funny .....
  10. George...why are you stalking me ????
  11. I thought Port Chester was going green??? You should be buying corn oil !!!!!
  12. They sound like a bunch of good neighbors to me !!!!!!
  13. If you go to their website, www.iaff2501.com, you will see that in 3 out of 4 of their groups, that 1 of the 4 of the firefighters is an asst. chief. In the 4th group there are 3 men and 1 is an asst. chief/firefighter (also the union president). If there is more than 1 call that needs coverage, the fire department will recall 2 firefighters. They have 5 asst. chiefs, 13 firefighters and 1 part time paramedic. "Duty crews are 4 man strong," I think this is how they do it. All men on duty are "STRONG". There is no other explanation.
  14. From the IFFA Locals website. Salamanca Fire Department is currently operating with 16 Full Time Firefighters and 1 Part time Paramedic under Chief Nicholas Bocharski. The Department provides Fire and ALS level EMS protection to the City of Salamanca, covering an area roughly 6 sq miles. Additionally, another 10sq miles of neighboring areas are covered for EMS only. 2 Engines, 1 Tower Ladder, 2 utility vehicles and 2 ALS Ambulances are available to Firefighters. Duty crews are 4 man strong, with minimum 2 man staffing. These crews consist of 1 Assistant Chief and up to 3 Firefighters. When duty crews are tied up at 1 or more calls and station coverage is needed 2 Firefighters can be recalled for duty coverage of the station (more Firefighters can be recalled as needed for manpower and staffing needs). From what I can see they run a 4 man shift. This covers 2 ALS ambulances and the 2 engines and the tower ladder. It looks like there is a manpower concern with the duty coverage.
  15. A few years ago a pre-school came to see New Rochelle Fire Station #5 for a tour of the station and Engine 25. After giving our little talk about the engine we allowed the 4-5 year olds a chance to sit in the drivers seat. The engine was in the rear driveway, wheels chocked and the batteries were on so we could be in service by radio. The first child that was lifted into the seat, without hesitation, reached over to the small black button in the middle of the dashboard and pushed it in. The look on everyones face of horror that this kids had just started the engine. The kid was so proud of himself and the officer ordered the batteries off and a man to the watch desk to monitor alarms. Even when you think you have all the bases covered, think again. Murphy always seems to find his way home.
  16. I think Posada needs to put some double stick tape on his glove. LET'S GO METS
  17. 30 or so years ago at one of the County Fire Control meeting it was announced that there was 1 and maybe 2 Bell type helicopters delivered and sitting at the County Airport. They were army surplus and were given to the County. At the time the County Police did not exist. There was the Parkway Police and the County Sheriff. The story goes that the Parkway P.D. was to get the helicopter(s) for patrolling the parkways, but the Sheriff put claimed to the helicopter(s) for investigating crimes. It was said that there was such a rift between the two police agencies that the County Exec returned the copter(s) to the Government.
  18. Chief.....I've been out of the loop for a while. Does Yonkers F.D. still follow the policy of not covering another F.D.'s houses? The last I heard was that YFD only goes to the scene to work (like FDNY).
  19. The death of the dolphin leaves no intelligent life form in the area.......
  20. Sounds like you're having a slow day on the reservation !!!!
  21. I think it might be more along the lines of a more intelligent mammal then what already resides in the area. The USCG is trying to keep it there and hope the intelligence might rub off on the residents. After seeing people run generators inside their garages, walking on downed power lines, complaining that they don't have internet access during the storm you have to wonder what about how smart the people in the area are.
  22. Hey Barry...I like this terminology for the smaller boats !!!!! Maybe we call ALL the boats MARC's........Then I get my pick.
  23. Are you sure it's a school bus company ???? Maybe a neighboring fire department has been crossed trained to get more productivity out of them. Hey what kids wouldn't love to get a ride to school in the big red fire engine. Or someone's wife getting a ride to the train station !!!!!!!
  24. Barry what ambulances are you counting???? Are you looking at the local ambulance only or do you include the commercials???? Just in the sound shore area alone there has been a 50% increase in actual ambulances. The area went from 10 ambulance to 15 ambulances. The south county is different from the northern part and should be separated when these statements are made. You wouldn't want put N.R. and Yonkers to be lumped in with the smaller slower departments up north when you talk about fire department responses. Compare apples to apples. I just wish when all these numbers and statements are thrown around that they are explained. Just like JFLYNN always asks for general statements to be explained further, I too wish that numbers and statements don't get all lumped together and generalized.
