  1. You seem to know a lot about the doings of the film industry. What exactly did you do before EFD hired you????? Is Glover your real name or is it a take off of your Adult Film name "George Gloves Her" ?????
  2. Contact Peekskill FD, they know a guy who moves firehouses!
  3. Thanks chief for putting the video together. After watching it I feel as if I was back in 2001. It just brings back the feeling and emotions. NEVER FORGET!
  4. I would think that to extend the runway out over 684 they would have to trim off some of the hill that is across the lake. Maybe they could make the extension like a parking deck and slope it upwards so the planes can clear the hill. That way they could leave the hill intact and keep the tree huggers happy.
  5. It Might have Choked Artie But it ain't gone'a choke Stymie!
  6. Take the Chappy ferry across Edgartown Harbor and follow the road about 1/2 mile. It's on the right. Usually no one is there so you need to check at the main station before you go. If you come to the Ted Kennedy bridge, you went too far.
  7. And when I had a tough medical emergency, I would look at the lunch box and think, " what would Roy and Johnny due in this situation"????
  8. And I'm still waiting for you to return it !!!!!!! And without all the tears....... remember, you made it to captain.
  9. Don't forget the the engine in the Chappy sub-station. If you are looking to get a picture of Tisbury's Bronto sky lift, it's stationed in the DPW garage on State's Road. Doesn't fit in the firehouse.
  10. Sounds like a discrimination law suit waiting to happen. How can EFD hire a diverse cross section of the population it serves if they are barred from recruiting in the Bronxville schools. Where's the ACLU when you need them.
  11. They wore bunkers on EMERGENCY. Any alarm after they went to sleep they would turn out in bunker pants. And don't forget those guys from Pasadena, They had that funny yellow stuff. Emergency was ahead of it's time. They were already wearing their helmets during any response. What dept. mandates that all personnel wear their helmets while responding to any alarm?????
  12. And the guy in the jump seat (the best driver in the department) had to duck under the open door to avoid hitting his head.
  13. And don't forget to figure in the aggravation factor. It might not prevent the car or motorcycle from being stolen, but to have it recovered in hours or less is priceless.
  14. Does the County P.D. have them ?????
  15. Last night I attended the Dave Matthew's Band concert at Citifield. There was a staging of FDNY truck and engine companies across from the World's Fair Marina. Along with these companies there were communication/command post from FDNY, NYPD and OEM. Also, there were numerous TAC trucks and support vehicles. Inside Citifields parking lot were other FDNY companies. During the show around 11PM, NYPD aviation was flying over Citifield with it's spotlight on. When the concert was over there was an even greater FDNY presence, along with Rescue 4, in the outlying area along with what looked like every mounted unit NYPD has. One thing that I noticed the lack of was EMS. Usually there are private ambulances contracted for an event parked around Citfield, last night I didn't see any. I have been to many an event at Citifield and never saw such a mobilization of resources. Not even at Paul McCartney's concert last year. Does anyone know why the resources ??????
  16. I was thinking the same thing. The PAPD helicopter looks the same (minus the stripping & lettering) as the corporate helicopters that fly over my house 10 times a day.
  17. Journal News is also confirming the recovering. http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/201007041420/NEWS02/7040385
  18. NY Division closed the hiring process for now but Amtrak posts jobs regularly on their job site: http://www.amtrak.com/careers. Applications are all done online when a job is posted.
  19. If you are nervous about forest fires, maybe this can help. http://www.smokeybear.com/index.asp
  20. Former New Rochelle P.O. R.A. Smith is now a K-9 cop with Amtrak and he has been assigned to work Penn Station and many other part of the Amtrak line.
  21. Toto...I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!
  22. TMFD Eng 37 was sold to a private concern that was taking it upstate. It made it as far as Elmsford and then to the scrap yard.
  23. Nancy was the EMT every paramedic want to work with. When she became a paramedic many other paramedics wanted to be like her. She had a great sense of compassion for her patients and a great knowledge base as a paramedic. Nancy learned from some of the best and became one of the best. She was one of the original North Rockland Medic 1 Paramedics. Never a dull moment when you worked with Nancy. She will be missed
  24. Barry your info is not correct. When you were a volunteer the "paid staff" only had 6-8 weeks of in house training. That training was to train them how to operate and maintain the apparatus, house duties and to learn the district. If they had more firefighter training then you did it was due to the fact that most were volunteers before being hired. Some took classes on their own time and own expense. They weren't required to have the additional training, but they wanted to know more about the job. This was the exception not the rule. Since you left the department the "career staff" now receives the same basic training as any other career firefighter in Westchester. They then return to the department for the additional 6-8 weeks of training as mentioned above. I used the term "paid staff" and then "career staff" on purpose. Back in the day of the "paid staff" they were drivers. They would not give up the drivers/pump operators job to any one (volunteer) for fear of losing their jobs. This was a time when most of the "paid staff" didn't want to fight fires and get dirty. Today is totally different. The "career staff" has the training and the desire to get dirty and fight fires. They are not fearful of allowing a qualified volunteer take over the pumps so the driver can stretch and advance the line. Where this scenario is beneficial it happens. There is no paid-vs-volunteer. It is firefighters working together to get the job done. That is what ALL firefighters, volunteer and career, should be doing. Working together.
  25. Fleetwood Mac Rumours !!!!! A classic.....
